System Overview Ventilation Device aV100 ALD

The aV100 ALD is an external wall air diffuser for fresh air supply, complementing extract air devices. It features an insert with an adjustable inner panel, integrated wind protection and filter, a wall sleeve, and an external cover. The air volume is regulated via the inner panel. The filter cartridge ensures clean air intake.

The standard wall sleeve is 495 mm, with longer options available. Both can be shortened on-site.

Components

Models

The aV100 ALD series differs in external terminations:

Refer to separate installation instructions for details on external closure variants.

Construction

The aV100 ALD Plus consists of:

  1. External closure (Base plate, Drip edge, Cover, Weather protection grille)
  2. Wall sleeve
  3. Filter cartridge with wind protection
  4. Filter ISO Coarse (G1)
  5. Inner panel base plate ALD100
  6. Inner panel cover ALD 100

Functions

ALD units are installed in supply air rooms connected to extract air devices. Negative pressure from the extract air device draws outside air in. Fresh air outlets have filters and wind protection. Air volume is regulated at the inner panel by adjusting the opening angle.

Installation Example: Aventus extract air system with aV100 ALD for fresh air supply.

Preparing for Installation

Installation Position

Installation location should follow ventilation planning. Exact positioning requires on-site checks and adjustments with the planner/user. Installation near the ceiling (e.g., 1.80 m above finished floor) is recommended for optimal function. Avoid placing the unit above radiators, thermostats, sensitive furniture, or pictures.

Minimum Distances for Wall Opening

Observe minimum distances to components and building elements on both internal and external walls. A minimum distance of 1.2 m is required between adjacent air openings. Ensure the aV100 ALD is not covered and has free airflow. Maintain a minimum circumferential clearance of 250 mm. Installation close to the ceiling improves air distribution.

Recommendation: Install the wall opening above a radiator to pre-heat incoming air. Position the device so air does not flow directly into the occupied zone (maintain 1-1.2 m distance). Each device must be in its own wall sleeve. Minimize inflow air velocity to avoid drafts.

Components Overview

Create Wall Opening

CAUTION: Falling masonry can cause injury or damage. Install protection against falling masonry and clear the area.

For new constructions, consider the optional Simplex D103 wall mounting system, D120 wall block, or Woodplex for timber construction. Observe minimum distances and installation positions. Consult your planner if unsure.

Create Wall Opening via Core Drilling

Drill a hole with a core drill attachment or milling drill of Ø 115 mm. Ensure the masonry is dry and load-bearing, and that no load-bearing elements are in the drill hole path. The wall opening must have a slope of 1-2° towards the exterior wall.

Installing the Wall Sleeve

Tools required: Measuring tape, angle grinder, spirit level, non-pressing 2K polyurethane foam, cutter, mounting wedge set, styrofoam discs.

Requirements: Wall opening Ø 115 mm is complete. Determine exact wall thickness X and protrusion Y based on exterior rendering (D), insulation (C), masonry (B), and interior plaster (A). Refer to the table for specific calculations based on external closure and inner cover type.

Steps:

  1. Cut the wall sleeve to the determined dimension X + Y. File edges.
  2. Remove styrofoam discs. Insert the wall sleeve into the opening, flush with the interior wall, ensuring a 1-2° slope towards the exterior wall using mounting wedges and checking with a spirit level.
  3. Insert styrofoam discs from inside and outside to prevent contamination.
  4. Foam-seal the gap between the wall sleeve and masonry with 2K polyurethane foam.
  5. After hardening (approx. 24 hours), cut off excess foam and protruding mounting wedges flush with the inner or outer wall as needed.

NOTICE: Improper slope can lead to condensation water accumulation and damage. Ensure proper sealing to prevent contamination.

Installing the External Closure

Weather Protection Grille aV100

Tools required: Spirit level, pencil, power drill with Ø 6mm bit, cordless screwdriver, anchors.

Requirements: Exterior wall completed and even, wall sleeve installed.

Steps:

  1. Insert the weather protection grille into the wall sleeve from outside. Level it with a spirit level.
  2. Mark the four drill holes, remove the grille, and drill holes (Ø 6 mm, min 50 mm deep). Insert anchors.
  3. Apply permanently elastic external sealing compound to the spigot and base plate.
  4. Slide the grille onto the wall sleeve, ensuring the condensate drain slopes towards the floor and away from the wall.
  5. Screw the grille to the exterior wall.

NOTICE: Misaligned condensate drain can damage the masonry/exterior wall.

Installing the Weather Protection Hood Flex aV100

Tools required: Spirit level, pen, cordless screwdriver, dowel, stop tape, sealing tape 10 mm, screws, saw.

Requirements: Exterior wall completed and even. Wall sleeve with Ø 100 mm installed, with a maximum projection of 10 mm on the outer wall. Remove styrofoam disc from the outer wall side of the sleeve.

Steps:

  1. Slide the base plate onto the projecting wall sleeve. Ensure the protective grille faces the floor.
  2. Level the base plate inner panel. Mark the four drill holes.
  3. Drill holes (Ø 8 mm, min 50 mm deep).
  4. Apply sealing tape (10 mm) to the outside wall side and circumferentially on the base plate, flush with the sleeve opening and along the outer edge guide. Do not seal fixing holes.
  5. Insert wall anchors and screw the base plate to the wall anchors with 4 screws. Use insulation plugs/anchors for insulated walls or Simplex systems if needed (optional).
  6. Seal only the upper joint between the base plate and the outer wall with permanently elastic exterior sealant.
  7. Place the cover onto the base plate from above and pull it down until it hooks behind the base plate.

NOTICE: Improper sealing of the joint between the base plate and outer wall prevents cover fitting.

Installing Inner Panel ALD100

Requirements: Exterior wall completed and even, wall sleeve installed.

Steps:

  1. Slide the pre-assembled inner panel into the wall sleeve, ensuring the inVENTer logo is at the bottom right. Level the base plate inner panel.
  2. (Optional) Screw the inner panel to the inner wall using the 4 corner holes if it does not fit tightly.
  3. Pull the top edge of the cover forward to unhook it. The inner panel is fitted.
