This user guide provides essential information for the Kogan SmarterHome™ 3MP Outdoor Battery-Powered Security Camera, model KASMOTCMSLA, which features a built-in floodlight and solar panel for enhanced security and convenience.

Overview

The Kogan SmarterHome™ Security Camera features several key components:

Installation

Before Installation

• This camera operates exclusively on a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. A Wi-Fi extender may be needed if the signal is weak.
• Fully charge the camera before powering it on. A complete charge takes approximately 10 hours.
• Ensure a stable connection by maintaining a suitable distance between the camera, router, and smartphone during installation.

Mounting the Camera

1. Identify the desired mounting position.
2. Confirm the presence of the two screws and rubber plugs provided.
3. Mark the screw spots on the selected surface, aligning with the camera's screw holes.
4. If necessary, drill holes and insert the rubber plugs.
5. Screw the provided screws into the plugs or directly into the marked spots, leaving them slightly protruding.
6. Align the camera's screw holes with the installed screws and hang the camera.
7. Ensure the camera is securely mounted and stable.
8. Adjust the camera angle for optimal coverage.

Connect to SmarterHome™ App

Install App

Download the “Kogan SmarterHome” app from the Google Play Store (Android) or Apple App Store (iOS).

To Register

1. If an account exists, select ‘Log In’; otherwise, select 'Sign Up' to register a new account.
2. The system typically recognizes the country automatically. Manually select if needed. Enter an email address and tap 'Get Verification Code'.
3. Enter the 6-digit verification code sent to the email within one minute.
4. Complete the SmarterHome profile.

Set Device in Pairing Mode

Upon initial power-on, the device may automatically enter pairing mode (indicated by a slow red flash). If not, manually activate pairing mode by pressing and holding the 'Reset' button for 7 seconds until "Initialising camera" is heard and the indicator rapidly flashes red.

Add Device Through Network

1. After registration, tap “Add Device” on the app's home page or the “+” icon to add a new device.
2. Select "Home Security > Cameras" from the product type list.
3. Ensure the device is in pairing mode (indicator flashing red) and tap “Confirm light is rapidly flashing”.
4. Enter Wi-Fi details. The SmarterHome™ device and app must be on the same 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network during setup.
5. Calibrate the camera by holding the smartphone 15-20cm away from the camera lens to scan the QR code shown on the app screen. A prompt sound will confirm success; tap "I heard a prompt".
6. The device will begin pairing. Keep the camera, router, and phone close until connected.
7. Once added, rename the device and assign a location. It will then appear on the app's home page.

Note: The device and app must use the same 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. The device is only compatible with 2.4GHz networks. Depending on the product, steps may vary slightly.

Note: After connection, users can select "Create Scene" from the “+” icon or Scene tab to group SmarterHome™ products and automate functions.

Google Home Control

Note: A Google Home account must be set up before linking the Kogan SmarterHome™ device.

Adding SmarterHome™ to the Google Home App

1. From the Google Home app home page, select the “+” icon (top left) to access the ‘Add and manage’ page.
2. Select 'Set up device', then 'Works with Google'.
3. Use the search bar to find and select ‘Smarter Home’.
4. Sign into the SmarterHome™ account using the registered email or mobile number.
5. Select "Kogan SmarterHome™" from the app options.
6. Tap 'Authorise' to grant Google permission to access the SmarterHome™ app and devices.
7. The app will display compatible devices linked to the SmarterHome™ account. Devices can be assigned to rooms and routines set up.

Note: Google Home controls only base/core functions. For full smart functionality, use the Kogan SmarterHome™ app.

Amazon Alexa Control

Note: An Alexa account must be set up prior to linking the Kogan SmarterHome™ device.

Adding SmarterHome™ to the Alexa App

1. From the Alexa app home page, select the "More" icon (bottom-right) and then "Skills & Games".
2. Use the search bar to find and type ‘Smarter Home’ to locate the Kogan SmarterHome™ skill.
3. Tap 'Enable to Use' to add the Kogan SmarterHome™ skill.
4. Sign into the SmarterHome™ account using the registered email or mobile number.
5. Select "Kogan SmarterHome™" from the app options.
6. Tap 'Authorise' to grant Alexa permission to access the SmarterHome™ app and devices.
7. The app will search for and display devices linked to the SmarterHome™ account. Kogan SmarterHome™ devices can then be controlled via Alexa's voice commands.

Note: Alexa controls only base/core functions. For full smart functionality, use the Kogan SmarterHome™ app.
