Accessibility in Action: Tackling Species Conservation

The ORG.one initiative, launched in 2021, aims to democratize and localize the sequencing of critically endangered species. This project empowers biologists to rapidly analyze species near their sample origin using portable nanopore sequencing tools, contributing to conservation efforts and future scientific research. The initiative has already completed reference genomes for 119 critically endangered species, enhancing open-access biodiversity resources.

By providing free access to reagents and tools, ORG.one is setting a new standard in biodiversity genomics, supporting global efforts to protect vulnerable species.
