Component Diagram
Diagram showing all components of the aFe POWER Momentum GT Cold Air Intake System, labeled with letters corresponding to the parts list: A (Air Filter), B (Tube), C (Housing), D (Silicone Reducer Coupling), E (Silicone Hump Coupling), F & G (Clamps), H (Clamps), J (Grommet), K (Air Temperature Sensor Fitting), M (Retainer Clips), N (Cable Holder), P (Vent Insert).
Removal Procedure
Step 1: Disconnect Temperature Sensor
Refer to Figure A. The image shows the engine bay with a circle highlighting the temperature sensor harness connection. Step 1 instructs to unplug the temperature sensor harness.
Steps 2-4: Loosen Clamps and Remove Factory Intake
Refer to Figure B. The image shows the engine bay with circles highlighting clamp locations and coolant line. Step 2: Loosen the two clamps connecting the intake tube to the turbo inlet tubes. Step 3: Unclip the coolant line from the intake tube. Step 4: Unclip the top of the factory air box and remove the intake tube, air filter, and top of the air box from the vehicle.
Steps 5-7: Remove Air Box Components
Refer to Figure C. The image shows the engine bay near the air box with circles highlighting fastener locations. Step 5: Remove the two plastic rivets securing the front scoop of the housing. Step 6: Unclip the wire harness from the back of the air box. Step 7: Remove the screw securing the air box to the fender, then pull the factory air box out of the truck. Note: The screw removed in step 7 will be reused to secure the aFe POWER housing.
Installation Procedure
Step 8: Locate Factory Tube for Driver's Side Turbo Inlet
Refer to Figure D. The image displays the intake tube assembly off the vehicle, with arrows indicating vent fittings and turbo inlets. The text explains that the plastic vent tube insert installation is crucial to prevent check engine lights and that these procedures are best done with the turbo inlet tubes installed on the engine. Step 8: Locate the factory plastic tube feeding the driver's side turbo inlet (the connection closer to the turbo).
Steps 9-10: Identify Vent Tube and Quick Disconnect Tab
Refer to Figure E. The image shows a close-up of a vent fitting on a tube. Step 9: Locate the valve cover vent tube that feeds into the driver's side turbo inlet (the connection closer to the turbo). The engine cover does not need to be removed. Step 10: Check the color of the locking tab on the quick disconnect fitting. If the tab is orange, proceed to steps 11 and 12. If the tab is blue or grey, proceed to step 13.
Step 11: Prepare for Quick Disconnect Removal (Orange Tab)
Refer to Figure F. The image shows a quick disconnect fitting with an orange locking tab. Step 11: If the locking tab is orange, a quick disconnect tool (commonly used on AC and fuel lines) will be needed for removal.
Step 12: Remove Quick Disconnect Fitting (Orange Tab)
Refer to Figure G. The image shows a quick disconnect tool being used on the fitting with an orange tab. Step 12: For the fitting with the orange locking tab, slide the 5/8” quick disconnect tool over the fitting, push it inside, rotate, and pull the fitting simultaneously.
Step 13: Remove Vent Fitting (Grey/Blue Tab)
Refer to Figure H. The image shows a hand manipulating a tab on a vent fitting. The text indicates a sensor and wire harness on this vent tube. Step 13: If the locking tab is grey or blue, apply pressure against the exposed tail and pull the vent fitting off the turbo inlet tube. Do not disconnect at the valve cover end. Do not damage or remove the sensor and wire harness.
Step 14: Insert Vent Fitting onto Turbo Inlet
Refer to Figure I. The image shows a vent fitting being inserted into a turbo inlet. Step 14: Insert the vent fitting with the slash cut facing the turbo. Ensure a snug fit; it is direction-dependent and must not rotate once installed.
Steps 15-16: Reconnect Vent Fitting and Finalize Vent Tube Installation
Refer to Figure J. The image shows a vent fitting being reconnected. Step 15: Reconnect the vent fitting; it will snap into place without releasing the plastic clip. Pull up slightly to confirm installation. Step 16: The vent tube installation is complete. Any diagnostic trouble codes can be cleared with a code reader or by disconnecting the battery (note: battery disconnection will reset radio presets). If the vent insert needs removal, use internal snap ring pliers.
Steps 17-18: Transfer Grommet and Install Cable Holder
Refer to Figure K. The image shows the aFe POWER housing and a close-up of a grommet. Step 17: Transfer the factory grommet and sleeve from the factory air box to the aFe POWER housing. Step 18: Install the provided white cable holder into the hole below the filter opening.
Steps 19-21: Install and Secure aFe POWER Housing
Refer to Figure L. The image shows the aFe POWER housing being placed into the engine bay. Step 19: Install the aFe POWER housing into the truck by pushing it into the factory mounting grommets. Step 20: Secure it using the factory screw removed at step 7. Step 21: Secure the front of the housing with the two provided plastic retainer clips.
Steps 22-23: Install Air Filter and Secure Coolant Hose
Refer to Figure M. The image shows the air filter being installed into the housing and a coolant hose. Step 22: Install the air filter into the aFe Power housing by firmly pushing it until the tabs lock into place. Install the clamp on the filter, but do not tighten it yet. Step 23: Secure the coolant hose to the housing with the white cable holder.
Steps 24-25: Install Grommet and Transfer Temperature Sensor
Refer to Figure N. The image shows a close-up of a fitting on the intake tube where the grommet and temperature sensor will be installed. Step 24: Install the grommet into the hole on the aFe POWER tube. Press in the plastic fitting and orient it correctly for the temperature sensor. Step 25: Remove the temperature sensor from the factory intake tube. Transfer it to the fitting onto the aFe POWER intake tube. Turn it clockwise until the tab locks it into place.
Steps 26-27: Install Turbo Inlet Couplings
Refer to Figure O. The image shows the turbo inlet areas of the engine. Step 26: Install the bellow coupling onto the driver side turbo inlet. Place the larger clamps on it but do not tighten yet. Step 27: Install the reducer coupling on the other turbo inlet and place the clamps on it but do not tighten at this time.
Steps 28-29: Connect Intake Tube and Tighten Clamps
Refer to Figure P. The image shows the aFe POWER intake tube being connected to the filter and couplings. Step 28: Install the aFe POWER intake tube into the filter flange then connect it to the two couplings. Step 29: Align the tube and air filter, then tighten all clamps.
Steps 30-31: Reconnect Temperature Sensor Harness
Refer to Figure Q. The image shows the temperature sensor harness being reconnected. Step 30: Reconnect the temperature sensor harness. Step 31: Secure the harness clip into the hole on the housing.
Step 32: Final Verification
Refer to Figure R. The image shows the completed installation in the engine bay. Step 32: Verify all clamps and connections are secured. Your installation is now complete. Thank you for choosing aFe POWER!
