Pair to Bluetooth (Main Earbud)
Step 1: Choose the Main Earbud. Select one earbud to connect to your Bluetooth device. This earbud will maintain the primary Bluetooth signal. Set the other earbud aside until Step 5.
Earbud Selection Guidance:
- Choose the left earbud if you typically keep your device on your left side or in your left pocket.
- Choose the right earbud if you typically keep your device on your right side or in your right pocket.
Step 2: Power On. Press and hold the Power Button located on the inside of the selected earbud for 3 seconds. The indicator light will blink blue (?), signaling it is powered on.
Step 3: Enter Bluetooth Pairing Mode. With the earbud powered on, double-press the Power Button. The indicator light will then blink blue and white (?⚪), indicating it is in Bluetooth Pairing Mode.
Understanding Connectivity
This section details connecting your main earbud to your Bluetooth device and then pairing the second earbud.
Step 4: Connect to Device. On your Bluetooth device, search for 'Epic Air' and connect. The device display may show "JLab EpicAir-R" or "JLab EpicAir-L" depending on the earbud chosen.
Step 5: Connect Main Earbud to 2nd Earbud. Turn on the second earbud by pressing and holding its Power Button for 3 seconds. The earbud will blink blue (?), indicating it is powered on.
Once the main earbud is successfully connected to your device, its indicator light will flash white, signaling it is ready to connect to the second earbud.
Step 6: Automatic Earbud Pairing. The earbuds will automatically connect to each other. Both earbuds will then slowly pulse white, indicating a successful connection.
You are now ready to use your Epic Air earbuds.
Note on Connection: Pair only one earbud to your Bluetooth device to ensure a proper connection. The Epic Air earbuds are designed to learn usage patterns and improve connection stability over time, making the signal transmission between earbuds more precise.
Troubleshooting Connection: If earbuds do not connect automatically, take the earbud connected to your device and double-press its Power Button until the light blinks white rapidly. Once both earbuds are blinking white rapidly, they should connect automatically and then slowly pulse white.
In Use
After earbuds are powered on and connected, the white pulsing indicator lights will turn off after 30 seconds. They will reactivate when any button function is used.
Voice Prompt Battery Indications:
- "Battery Full" indicates 100-75% charge.
- "Battery Medium" indicates 75-25% charge.
- "Low Battery" indicates less than 25% charge.
When the battery level drops to 10%, a "Low Battery" voice prompt will play.
Recurring Use & Power Management
Auto-Power Off: Placing the earbuds back into the charging case will automatically power them off and initiate charging. A slow pulsing blue indicator light (?) signifies charging.
Alternate Power Off: You can also manually power off both earbuds by pressing and holding the Power Button for 3 seconds on one earbud.
Auto-Power On: When earbuds are removed from the case for subsequent use, they will automatically power on and reconnect to your device. Refer to the 'Pair to Bluetooth' guide to connect a new or additional device.
Disabling Auto-Power On: With earbuds on and connected to each other, perform a quick triple press on one earbud. Both earbuds will blink white 3 times to indicate the Auto-Power On feature is disabled.
Re-enabling Auto-Power On: Perform a quick triple press again on one earbud. Both earbuds will blink blue 3 times to indicate the Auto-Power On feature is enabled.

Fitting Your Earbuds
Proper fitting ensures optimal sound quality and secure wear.
- Initial Placement: Hold the earbud with the ear hook facing upwards. Place the earbud forward, positioning the hook on the back of your ear. Gently move the earbud back towards your ear.
- Ear Canal Alignment: Locate the earbud's position in your ear canal and rotate it inward to achieve a secure fit.
- Seal Adjustment: Rotate and adjust the earbud until a proper seal is formed. Experiment with the included ear tip sizes (Standard, Shallow, Double Flange, Triple Flange) to find the best fit and seal for your ear.
Cleaning and Care
The JLab Epic Air earbuds are rated IP55, making them splashproof, sweatproof, and washable. Rinse your earbuds with water after use as needed.
Warnings
- Drying: Ensure the earbuds are completely dry before placing them in the charging case. Moisture in the case can cause damage, voiding the warranty.
- Ear Hook Integrity: Do not deform the ear hooks. While made of flexible silicone, they contain an internal structure for the antenna. Prying or excessive force on the ear hooks may cause damage or breakage to the antenna.
Troubleshooting Tips
Earbud Will Not Connect to Bluetooth Device
- On your device's settings, turn Bluetooth off and then back on to reset the connection search.
- If the earbud was previously connected, 'forget' or 'remove' "Epic Air R" or "Epic Air L" from your device's Bluetooth settings.
- Follow the 'Pair to Bluetooth' guide to establish a new connection.
Epic Air: Pairing Your Earbuds Together
If your Epic Air earbuds are not pairing automatically, consult the instructional video at jlabaudio.com/products/epic-air-true-wireless-earbuds on the Support tab. For further assistance, contact service@jlabaudio.com or call 405-445-7219.
Automatic Pairing Process:
- Power on both earbuds.
- On one earbud, double-press the power/pairing button until its indicator light blinks white rapidly.
- Repeat step 2 for the other earbud.
- Wait approximately 10 seconds. The indicator lights should begin to pulse slowly in white, indicating they are paired together. They will pair automatically on subsequent power-ups.
Touch Sensor Recalibration
Recalibrating touch sensors can resolve issues with controls like Volume Up/Down, Play/Pause, and Track Forward/Back. Refer to the instructional video at jlabaudio.com/products/epic-air-true-wireless-earbuds on the Support tab for detailed steps. For help, contact service@jlabaudio.com or 405-445-7219.
Recalibration Steps (One Earbud at a Time):
- Power on one earbud.
- Press the power/pairing button ten times. The LED light should become solid white.
- Hold the earbud by its housing or hook, ensuring nothing touches the touch sensor.
- Press the power/pairing button one more time. The LED light should blink blue (?).
- The touch sensor is now recalibrated. The earbud remains powered on.
- Repeat these steps for the other earbud.
Earbuds Will Not Automatically Connect to Bluetooth Device When Powered Back On
- When both earbuds are powered on, manually search for and select "Epic Air R" or "Epic Air L" in your device's Bluetooth settings.
- If connection is still not established, turn off both earbuds, then 'forget' or 'remove' them from your device's Bluetooth settings.
- Follow the 'Pair to Bluetooth' guide to re-establish the connection.
Music Playing on Device, Not Through Earbuds
- If audio plays on the device but not the earbuds, re-establish the Bluetooth connection via your device's settings.
- Ensure the volume on your Bluetooth device is adjusted appropriately. A beep from the earbuds may indicate they are muted.
- App behavior can affect audio sync. Try pausing and playing your music again.
- If the issue persists, power the earbuds off and then back on to re-establish the Bluetooth connection.
Earbud Enters Bluetooth Pairing After Connecting to Device
- In your Bluetooth settings, locate the "Epic Air R" or "Epic Air L" that is attempting to pair.
- Press to connect to the device.
- Once connected, disconnect and 'forget' the earbud. This should prevent it from re-entering pairing mode.

Warm-Up Your Headphones & Cautions
Optional Burn-In: Burn-in is a process to optimize new audio equipment. JLab Audio recommends 40 hours of burn-in for headphones to achieve peak performance. This process helps loosen the diaphragm and stress the driver. While normal use will also break in headphones, JLab's proprietary method offers an ideal mix of sounds and frequency sweeps.
Burn-in your audio equipment using the JLab Audio app, available on the App Store and Google Play, or access the method at jlabaudio.com/burnin.
Cautions
- Avoid exposing the earbuds to extreme heat, cold, or humidity.
- Do not drop or crush the earbuds. Avoid stressing the ear hook with rapid pulling, extreme force, or sharp bending, as this can damage the internal antenna.
- Earwax buildup can reduce sound quality. Gently clean earbud tips with a cotton swab or small tool.
- If you experience discomfort or pain, try lowering the volume or temporarily discontinue use.
- If discomfort persists, discontinue use and consult a physician.
- Treat your earbuds with care, similar to a pair of sunglasses, and store them in a safe place when not in use.
