ZHIYUN FIVERAY M40 User Guide
Brief Introduction
ZHIYUN FIVERAY M40 is a high-power portable LED fill light. It supports brightness and color temperature adjustment and includes a bracket for mounting on a light stand or a camera. The fill light offers adjustable angles, meeting the lighting needs for video recording, live streaming, and still portrait shooting.
⚠ WARNING
This product is not waterproof. Prevent contact with any kind of liquid or cleaner with the product. Never use the product in the rain or a humid environment.
Do not expose this product to corrosive chemicals, inflammable, and explosive materials.
Do not touch heat-generating components when using the product to avoid getting burnt.
Do not wrap or block the fan with foreign objects to avoid affecting the cooling performance of the product.
Do not look directly at the glowing LED chips to avoid eyesight damage.
Do not place or use the product in environments with temperatures over 40°C.
BE CAREFUL
- This product is a high-precision control device. Damage may be caused to the product if dropped or subject to external force, which may result in malfunction.
- Please keep your hands dry while using the product and use a soft dry cloth for cleaning.
- Keep this product out of the reach of children.
- Protect the product from dust and sand during use.
- Do not disassemble this product on your own. In the event of malfunctions, it should be repaired by ZHIYUN or authorized maintenance personnel.
Get to Know ZHIYUN FIVERAY M40

Charging
The product features a built-in battery. For first-time use, please activate the battery by fully charging it to ensure proper function.
Charging Method
Use the provided USB Type-C cable to connect the USB charger to charge the ZHIYUN FIVERAY M40. It is recommended to use USB chargers that meet the PD protocol (supporting up to 50W). When the device is powered off or in operation, a maximum of 15W is supported for battery charging. If the charger's power exceeds 15W, the surplus power will be used to supply the operating ZHIYUN FIVERAY M40.
Before charging, rotate the bracket in the indicated direction to prevent it from blocking the Type-C charging port.

💡 It is recommended to fully charge the ZHIYUN FIVERAY M40 before each use. Performance may be affected if the battery level is too low. A USB charger is not provided.
How to Use ZHIYUN FIVERAY M40
⚠ Do not stare at the glowing LED chips of ZHIYUN FIVERAY M40.
The IP rating of ZHIYUN FIVERAY M40 is IP20.
1. Installing ZHIYUN FIVERAY M40
The ZHIYUN FIVERAY M40 can be installed on a light stand or a camera. The following describes the installation example on a light stand:
- Rotate the ZHIYUN FIVERAY M40 bracket to its vertical state, in the indicated direction.
- Expand the light stand and place it on a flat surface.
- Screw the 1/4" screw at the top of the light stand into the 1/4" screw hole at the bottom of the ZHIYUN FIVERAY M40 bracket. Rotate the bracket for a firm installation (indicated by '1' in the diagram). Adjust the ZHIYUN FIVERAY M40 forward or backward to the ideal position (indicated by '2' in the diagram). Adjust the FIVERAY M40 to a proper position according to your needs.

A light stand is not provided.
2. How to Use
Brightness/Power Wheel:
- Scroll up: Power on/increase brightness.
- Scroll down: Power off/decrease brightness.
Color Temperature Wheel:
- Scroll up: Increase color temperature level.
- Scroll down: Decrease color temperature level.
Battery Level/Charging Indicator Lights
The indicator lights display the battery level and charging status:
- One solid indicator light: Battery level 0%-25%.
- Two solid indicator lights: Battery level 25%-50%.
- Three solid indicator lights: Battery level 50%-75%.
- Four solid indicator lights: Battery level 75%-100%.
- Four indicator lights illuminate one by one: Charging.
- Four solid indicator lights: Charging completed.
Operation Instruction
To power on the ZHIYUN FIVERAY M40, scroll the brightness/power wheel up until you hear a click sound and the brightness mark is between "OFF" and "0%". The battery level/charging indicator lights will then show the current battery level. Scroll the brightness/power wheel to adjust the brightness, and scroll the color temperature wheel to adjust the color temperature. Adjust these settings to a proper value according to your needs.
Firmware Upgrade
Firmware for the ZHIYUN FIVERAY M40 can be upgraded using the "Zhiyun Gimbal Tools" software.
Upgrade Method:
- Connect the ZHIYUN FIVERAY M40's Type-C charging port to your computer using the USB Type-C cable.
- Visit the official ZHIYUN website (www.zhiyun-tech.com), navigate to the ZHIYUN FIVERAY M40 product page, click "Download", and download the USB driver, Zhiyun Gimbal Tools, and the firmware. (Note: USB drivers are not required for Mac OS systems).
- Install the driver and software. Unzip the firmware file if it has a ".ptz" file extension.
- Open "Zhiyun Gimbal Tools", select the corresponding port, click "Open", then click "Firmware Upgrade". Click "Browse" under "Path" to select the downloaded firmware file (with the ".ptz" extension), and click "Upgrade" to begin the process.
The ZHIYUN FIVERAY M40 will restart upon completion of the firmware upgrade. The upgrade can also be performed when the device is powered off.

Warranty Exclusions
- Products subjected to unauthorized repair, misuse, collision, neglect, mishandling, soaking, accident, and unauthorized alteration.

- Products damaged due to force majeure, such as fire, flood, lightning, etc.
