Parts Identification
Foot Pack Components
The foot pack (Part 2) consists of several plastic and metal parts that assemble to form the base of the roof rack. These include housings, clamps, and securing mechanisms.
Load Bars
The package includes two load bars (Part 3) that attach to the foot packs and support the carried load.
Hardware and Accessories
Included hardware comprises screws, lock cylinders (?), and a torque key for precise tightening.
Installation Procedure
Step 1: Assemble Foot Pack
Assemble the components of the foot pack. This involves inserting specific parts into designated slots and securing them with screws (x4) and the torque key (2 Nm).
Step 2: Prepare and Attach Rubber Strip
Measure and cut the rubber strip to the correct length using scissors (✂️). Carefully slide the rubber strip into the channel on the load bar. Ensure correct orientation by checking for a 'tick' mark (✔️) and avoiding incorrect placement (❌).
Step 3: Connect Bar to Foot Pack
Attach the load bar to the assembled foot pack. This typically involves sliding the bar into a locking mechanism within the foot pack.
Step 4: Position on Vehicle Raised Rails
Place the assembled rack units onto the vehicle's raised roof rails. Use the following table to determine the correct hole position on the foot pack based on the vehicle's rail width:
Rail Width to Hole Mapping
Rail Measurement (mm) | Hole Number |
---|---|
163-192 | 4 |
135-163 | 3 |
107-135 | 2 |
79-107 | 1 |
Step 5: Secure Foot Pack to Rail
Adjust the foot pack's clamp to grip the raised rail. Tighten the securing bolt using the torque key. The mechanism will provide an audible 'click' when the correct torque of 2 Nm is achieved. Repeat for all four foot packs.
Step 6: Install and Lock Covers
Insert the lock cylinders (?) into the covers. Slide the covers over the foot pack mechanisms and use the key to lock them securely. This protects the tightening mechanism and deters theft.
Step 7: Final Tightening and Checks
Perform final tightening of all securing points. Check that the bars are parallel and securely attached. The diagrams show final adjustments and securing straps being tightened.
Step 8: Spacing and Final Securing
Ensure the correct spacing between the bars (e.g., 700 mm as indicated in one diagram). Perform final tightening of all securing mechanisms, confirming the 'click' for 2 Nm torque.
Thule One-Key System
