Thule Rack Guidelines
When using Thule Load carriers and accessories, users must understand the precautions to ensure safety and proper usage.
- Maximum Load Capacity: Do not carry more than 75 kg (165 lbs) on Thule load carriers. The total load includes the weight of the cargo plus the weight of accessories used for carrying the cargo. Thule load carriers do not increase the vehicle's roof strength.
- Legal Compliance: Check local and state laws governing the projection of objects beyond the perimeter of a vehicle. Be aware of your cargo's width and height to avoid low clearance issues (branches, bridges, parking garages).
- Vehicle Handling: All cargo affects the vehicle's driving behavior. Never drive with any lock, knob, or rack part in an open or unlocked position.
- Securing Long Loads: Long loads such as sailboards, surfboards, kayaks, canoes, and lumber must be tied down front and rear to the vehicle's bumpers or tow hooks.
- Maintenance: Remove your Thule rack and accessories when they are not in use and before entering automatic car washes.
- Driving Conditions: Obey all posted speed limits and traffic cautions. Adapt your speed to the road conditions and the load being carried.
- Proper Use: Do not use Thule load carriers and accessories for purposes other than those for which they were designed. Do not exceed their carrying capacity. Failure to follow these guidelines or the product's instructions will void the warranty.
- Consult Dealer: Consult your Thule dealer if you have any questions regarding the operation and limits of Thule products. Review all instructions and warranty information carefully.
- Restrictions: Not for use on trailers or towed vehicles. Not for offroad use.
