VSTARCAM N800 Network Video Recorder
User Manual and Operational Guide
Introduction
The VSTARCAM N800 series Network Video Recorder (NVR) is a digital product specifically designed for video surveillance. It utilizes the LINUX operating system for enhanced stability and features H.264 video compression and G.711A audio compression technologies, ensuring high image quality and reduced error rates.
Basic Operations
1. Base Installation
1.1 Hard Disk Installation
Install a hard disk drive (HDD) into the NVR if this is your first time using the device. For HDD capacity specifications, please consult the NVR's technical specifications. The NVR can operate without an HDD, but recording and playback functions will be unavailable; only live camera feeds will be viewable.
1.2 Mouse Connection
The rear panel features two USB (USB 2.0) ports, one of which can be used for connecting a mouse. There is also a U-disk interface and a WiFi module. Mouse compatibility depends on product specifications.
1.3 NVR Power On
Connect the power supply to the NVR and switch it on using the power button. The power LED indicator will illuminate. Upon powering on, you will hear a beep, and the NVR's standard interface will appear, typically displaying a 4-quadrant screen, with each quadrant representing a connected camera channel.
1.4 NVR Power Off
There are two methods to shut down the NVR:
- Software Shutdown: Navigate to Main Menu > Log Out > Shutdown.
- Power Supply Shutdown: Turn off the device's power supply directly.
Note: Abruptly cutting the power supply may lead to data loss or corruption of recorded media files.
1.5 Authentication
The NVR comes with two preset user accounts: 'admin' and 'guest'. The default password for both is 123456. The 'admin' user has full privileges, while the 'guest' user can only view images and playback stored recordings. Password protection is enabled: if the password is entered incorrectly 7 consecutive times, an alarm will trigger. The account will be unlocked after a reboot or a 30-minute waiting period. For privacy and security, it is recommended to change the password immediately after accessing the NVR.
Network Settings
Network configuration is accessed via Main Menu > System > Network.
- [IP Address]: Set the IP address. The default is 192.168.1.18.
- [Subnet Mask]: Set the subnet mask. The default is 255.255.255.0.
- [Default gateway]: Set the default gateway. The factory default is 192.168.1.1.
Ensure the NVR's IP address and the router's IP address are in the same network segment. For example, if the router's IP is 192.168.1.1 and its subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, the default gateway is typically the router's IP address.
To access the NVR within the LAN, enter its IP address (e.g., 192.168.1.10) into an Internet Explorer browser. For more detailed configuration information, refer to the NVR's configuration chapter.
IPC Connection
There are three methods to add an IP Camera (IPC):
- Method a): Right-click > Main Menu > Remote Device > Quick Add.
- Method b): Right-click > Main Menu > Remote Device > Manual Add.
- Method c): Main Menu > System > Digital > Remote Device.
Online Equipment
- [Search]: Searches for IPCs on the LAN.
- [Add]: Select an IPC to add, or click the '+' icon to add a camera directly.
- [Quick Add]: Adds IPCs for all available channels.
- [Protocol]: Select the protocol for connecting the IPC. ONVIF is generally used, but for VSTARCAM cameras, the suggested protocol is A1, as it is proprietary and often more efficient.
IP Modification: Click the pencil icon to modify camera configurations.
Device Management
- [Delete]: Removes added IPCs, or click the 'x' icon.
- [Manual Add]: Select the protocol, enter the IPC's IP address, username, and password. Ensure all details are entered correctly.
- [IPC UPnP]: Automatically adds IPCs to available channels upon selection, typically within one minute.
- [Auto Search]: Sends a network broadcast packet to find devices. This function is enabled by default.
Recording and Playback
4.1 Recording Mode
Access recording mode via: View Window > Right Mouse Button > Recording Mode.
- [Schedule]: Program recording times.
- [Manual]: Continuous manual recording until 'Stop' is pressed.
- [Stop]: Stops recording.
Priority Order: [Manual] = [Stop] > [Schedule].
4.2 Playback Recorded Files
There are two ways to play back recorded video files:
- Method a): View Window > Right Mouse Button > Record Playback.
- Method b): Main Menu > Record Playback. Select the date, time, and camera channel, then click the search icon. Press 'Play' to watch the video, or use the timeline at the bottom for direct playback.
Remote Operations
1. Remote Access via Web
1.1 Web Authentication (Internet Explorer Browser)
Enter the NVR's IP address in the browser's search bar. Install the Active-X control plug-in if required for first-time use. Enter the username and password (default: username 'admin', password '123456').
2. Remote Access CMS
For remote access on a PC, install the CMS software. Enter the username; the password field can remain blank.
3. Mobile App Monitoring
Application Name: EYE4 NVR2
