Mounting the Podium Wheel Base

Side Mounting: The wheel base features two M8-threaded holes on each side for mounting purposes.

Bottom Mounting: The bottom of the wheel base has five M6-threaded hole patterns. These support Fanatec's triangular mounting system and square mounting (78.4mm x 66mm). Using the front center hole along with the two rear holes (Fanatec Triangular mounting) is sufficient for secure use.

Attaching the Steering Wheel

Simplified Quick Release:

  1. Turn the locking ring clockwise towards the back of the shaft. Ensure the rubber ring is not compressed.
  2. Carefully push the steering wheel onto the shaft.
  3. Tighten the clamping ring using the M6x20 screw (F) from the Podium Wheel Base accessories. Important: Do not use the M6x16 screw provided with your steering wheel; use the specific screw (F) from the Podium Wheel Base package.

Fanatec ClubSport Quick Release:

  1. Pull and hold the Quick Release sleeve.
  2. Carefully push the steering wheel onto the shaft.
  3. Release the sleeve to secure the wheel.
  4. When using the ClubSport Quick Release on a Podium DD Base, no additional screw is required.
  5. Turn the locking ring counter-clockwise for a tight fit.

To remove the wheel, reverse the attachment procedure.

Power On and Off

To Turn On: Connect the power supply and press the POWER BUTTON on the back of the wheel base for approximately one second. The optional Podium Kill Switch also has a power button.

To Turn Off: Press and hold the POWER BUTTON for 5 seconds, then release.

Torque Key Usage

The Torque Key (H) is essential for unlocking the full torque capabilities of the Podium Wheel Base. A safety warning will be displayed before use.

Safety Precautions:

  • The Torque Key is not inserted at the factory for safety reasons. Read all safety warnings before use.
  • To protect inexperienced users and children, it is recommended to remove the Torque Key when the wheel base is not in use or is unattended.
  • Ensure the Torque Key is inserted only into the designated "Torque Key" port and not into any other ports on the wheel base or other devices.

Connections

❗ IMPORTANT! When connecting the power supply (C), connect it to the DD Wheel Base (A) BEFORE connecting it to the power outlet/socket (D).

USB to PC/Console: Use only the straight USB plug provided with this product to avoid damage to the USB port.

Pedals: Connect Fanatec pedals using the RJ12 connection cable (G).

Shifters: Supports Static Shifters, Sequential Shifters (in SQ mode), and H-Pattern Shifters.

Handbrake: Connect the optional Handbrake.

Podium Kill Switch: Connect the optional Podium Kill Switch.

Connection to CAN BUS: For compatible accessories.

Power Plug: Plug in with the clamping hook pointing upwards. Unplug by pressing down the clamping hook.

Firmware Update and Compatibility

When starting up the Podium Wheel Base for the first time, please update the firmware. Obtain firmware from www.fanatec.com/downloads and follow the user manual instructions.
