Rhino Classic Greenhouse Base Footprint and Installation Guide

General Base Preparation Notes

Please note that the actual sizes for our greenhouses differ from the headline sizes listed on the website. It is important to bear this in mind when preparing your base. Exact base dimensions in mm are provided below.

Base Footprint

The footprint defines the point of contact between the base section and the ground. A Rhino greenhouse can be sited onto either a soil base or a hard standing base.

For a soil site: The Rhino requires flat, level (spirit level), compact, firm soil. Ground anchors (supplied) must be concreted into the soil after the greenhouse has been glazed. The precise location of the anchors varies by model. Membrane and shingle can be added inside the greenhouse after installation.

Door Ramp Accommodation: Please ensure that 32.00mm is added to the overall base length to accommodate the door ramp.

Soil Bases

Upon completion of your Rhino greenhouse, both the internal and external ramps must be supported. The recommended method is to excavate the soil and lay a path as illustrated, ensuring the ramp does not lift and obstruct the door when sliding.

Hardstand Bases

Common hardstand bases include perimeter bases made of slabs or concrete, often incorporating beds for growing or drainage. Other options are a full slab base or a full concrete base with drainage.

If installing a concrete strip foundation, it is crucial to allow for fixing down through each anchor point. Insufficient width in the concrete strip could lead to foundation cracking when drilling the anchors.

Base Dimensions Table (General)

Material Warning: Rhino Greenhouses Direct DO NOT RECOMMEND the use of hardcore [X], hogging [X], and shingle [X] as suitable base materials due to issues surrounding levelling and securing of the greenhouse.

Brick Plinth Base Plan

This base plan must be followed to ensure correct installation and anchoring.

Once the base is constructed, position the greenhouse so that the inside of the front door base aligns flush with the inside row of bricks. The sides and rear base should finish flush with the outside edge of the bricks. This alignment is essential for correctly fitting the anchors.

Ramp Support: Please note that on completion of your Rhino greenhouse, the internal ramp must be supported. The best way to achieve this is to install a path as illustrated.
