ZWILLING Flatware Care Instructions
To ensure you enjoy your ZWILLING flatware for many years, please read the following care instructions before use:
General Care
All ZWILLING flatware is dishwasher-safe. The flatware should be washed before first use. When handling flatware, be aware that porcelain and ceramic surfaces are harder than all flatware materials. Therefore, to avoid scratches, do not let the flatware get wedged between other tableware items during transport and cleaning, e.g., when clearing the table.
Metal can be attacked by lactic, fruit, and acetic acids in food, as well as salt residues. Therefore, do not leave flatware lying uncleaned for too long. If the flatware is not washed immediately, it is recommended to remove any food residue from it. Do not leave your flatware wet or soaking for too long.
Dishwasher Use
To ensure the dishwasher's water jet reaches all parts of the flatware, place them unsorted with the handles facing down in the cutlery basket. If you still notice stains after cleaning in the dishwasher, this may be due to the additives used. These can be easily removed with common stainless steel care products. Never use steel wool or scouring powder for cleaning the flatware, as these can roughen and damage the surface. Only use lint-free, soft cloths and brushes.
Check if your dishwasher is filled with salt and rinse aid in addition to detergent. Also, ensure you only use products from the same brand/series in the dishwasher, as they are carefully coordinated with each other. Please also read the instructions in your dishwasher's user manual.
Rust and Stains
If you discover traces of rust on your flatware in some cases, it may be so-called 'fly rust', which has been transferred from other non-rustproof products. You can avoid this by only washing rust-proof metal products in the dishwasher. Early removal of these types of stains with soft cloths, brushes, or sponges with dishwashing detergent prevents pitting corrosion.
Matt Finish Care
Important Note: Due to the special nature of the surface of matt flatware, parts of the matt finish may become shiny with use. The surface can be refreshed with a matting fleece. Note: Matt surfaces must not be polished.
