ZWILLING Flatware Care Instructions
To ensure you enjoy your ZWILLING flatware for many years, please read the following care instructions before use.
General Care and Dishwasher Use
All ZWILLING flatware is dishwasher-proof. Please clean the flatware before using it for the first time.
For optimal cleaning in the dishwasher, place flatware unsorted with handles facing down in the flatware basket. This ensures water jets reach all parts effectively.
Check that your dishwasher has adequate water softener, rinse aid, and detergent. For best results, use additives from the same brand or series, as they are designed to work together. Refer to your dishwasher's user manual for specific guidance.
Preventing Scratches and Damage
Be aware that the surfaces of porcelain and ceramic are harder than any flatware material. To prevent scratches, avoid transporting or cleaning flatware wedged between individual tableware items, such as when clearing the table.
Metal can be attacked by acids found in food (lactic, fruit, acetic acids) and by salt residues. Therefore, do not leave flatware dirty for extended periods. If you cannot wash flatware immediately, remove any residual food.
Do not leave your flatware wet or soaking in water for too long.
Dealing with Stains and Rust
If you notice stains or marks after dishwasher cleaning, they may be due to the cleaning products used. These can typically be removed with standard stainless steel care products.
Never use steel wool or abrasive cleaning agents, as these can roughen and damage the surface. Always use lint-free, soft cloths and brushes.
In the unlikely event of discovering rust traces on your flatware, this might be "fly rust" transferred from other non-rust-proof products. You can prevent this by only washing rust-proof metal items in your dishwasher. Promptly removing such marks with a soft cloth, brush, or sponge and detergent will prevent pitting corrosion.
Special Note for Matte Finish Flatware
Due to the special nature of the surface on matte flatware, the satin finish may become shiny in places with use.
The surface can be refreshed using a matt cloth or a suitable pad.
Important: Matte surfaces must not be polished.
