Product Introduction
The Aqara Floor Heating Thermostat W500 is a smart thermostat compatible with Zigbee and Thread protocols, designed for electric and hydronic heating systems. It features a built-in temperature and humidity sensor, with an optional floor sensor (NTC) connection. The thermostat offers smart scheduling, presets, remote control, and power metering to enhance energy efficiency and reduce energy costs. It integrates with the Matter ecosystem or the Aqara Home app (with an Aqara hub) for a seamless smart home experience with other devices.
Note: Compatible with electric heating devices using only Live (L) and Neutral (N) wires, or hydronic systems with 2-wire normally closed (NC) actuators.
Device Overview
The thermostat features an LCD screen displaying room temperature, set temperature, and room humidity. It has physical buttons for control and navigation:
- Switch 1 / + Button: Increases set temperature, cycles through presets forward, increases brightness.
- Switch 2 / o Button: Navigates through setting items (temperature adjustment, preset adjustment, brightness adjustment).
- Switch 3 / - Button: Decreases set temperature, cycles through presets forward, increases brightness.
Indicator lights and icons denote device status, including child lock, remote control, signal strength, heating status, and error codes.

Device Installation
Installation by a licensed electrician is recommended, adhering to local regulations. Ensure power is OFF at the source before wiring.
Installation Steps:
- Remove the existing thermostat.
- Separate the thermostat into screen and power units.
- Connect the power unit wiring according to the heating system type (Electric Heater or Valve). NTC sensor is optional.
- Mount the power unit to the junction box and attach the switch frame.
- Align and attach the panel unit to the power unit, securing with screws.
Note: Avoid installing in high humidity areas like bathrooms. Device placement is critical; keep away from sunlight and direct heat sources.
Quick Setup
Access to Aqara Home:
- Download the "Aqara Home" app from the app store or by scanning the QR code.
- Power on the device.
- Open the Aqara Home app, tap "+", and select the device to add. Ensure the hub is within range if addition fails.
Access to 3rd-Party Matter Ecosystem:
- Method 1: Use a Matter-compatible app and Thread border router. Power on the device and scan the Matter QR code on the product or manual, or enter the setup code.
- Method 2: After adding to Aqara Home, navigate to "Matter Ecosystem" in settings to synchronize with platforms like Apple Home or Home Assistant.

How to Use
- Temperature Swing Range: Set a buffer zone (±0.5~3°C) to prevent frequent heating system cycling.
- Window Open Detection: Automatically pauses heating if temperature drops significantly within a short period, or when a bound door/window sensor is open.
- Smart Schedule: Automate heating based on time periods and desired temperatures for up to 7 days a week, with up to 7 time periods per schedule.
- Manual Control: Manually adjust temperature or presets. Manual adjustments temporarily override schedules for a set duration (default 2 hours).
- Presets: Customizable presets include Home (default 26°C), Away (18°C), Wind down (24°C), Sleep (20°C), and Vacation (10°C).
- Calibration: Calibrate the built-in or floor sensor temperature/humidity with a range of -5~+5°C in 0.5°C increments.
- Floor Overheat Protection: If the NTC sensor is connected, the system shuts down heating if the floor temperature exceeds 40°C, entering a safety mode.
- Screen Brightness: Adjust backlight brightness. The backlight activates on button press and turns off after one minute of inactivity.
Button Operations and Indicator Lights
General Operations:
- Power On/Off: Press and hold the "o" button for 2 seconds.
- Navigate Settings: Press "o" to enter the settings menu. Use "+" and "-" to adjust parameters or cycle through options.
- Temperature Adjustment: Use "+" to increase and "-" to decrease the target temperature.
- Preset Adjustment: Cycle through Home, Away, Wind down, Sleep, and Vacation using "+" and "-".
- Brightness Adjustment: Use "+" to increase and "-" to decrease screen brightness.
Child Lock: Press and hold "+" and "-" simultaneously for 2 seconds to activate/deactivate. The child lock icon will appear on the screen.
Switch Temperature Unit: Press "+" and "-" simultaneously to toggle between °F and °C.
Reset and Factory Reset:
- Reset (Network Settings): Press "Reset" twice quickly and hold for over 5 seconds.
- Factory Reset: Quickly click the "Reset" button 10 times.
Indicator Lights: Various icons and their states (e.g., slowly flashing, quickly flashing, solid) indicate pairing status, network distribution, successful addition, device search, and error conditions.
