Setup

Filling up Fog Fluid

Fluid Handling Warning: Always disconnect the machine from the mains before filling. Use only water-based fluids; Eurolite recommends its own high-quality fluids. Never add flammable liquids. If fluid enters the machine's interior, have it checked by a professional before operation.

Unscrew the tank cap and fill the tank with fog fluid. Tightly close the tank again.

Placing the Unit

  • Remove all packing materials from the shipping box, ensuring no remnants remain near the fog output nozzle.
  • Install the device in a well-ventilated area. Operation in poorly ventilated rooms can lead to fog fluid condensation, creating slippery surfaces and potential accidents.
  • Maintain a minimum clearance of 20 cm around and above the device.
  • Install the fog machine only on scratch-resistant and water-resistant surfaces, with an inclination angle not exceeding 15°.
  • Do not aim the output nozzle directly at the audience's eyes. For a good effect, maintain a distance of at least 1.5 meters from the audience.
  • All fog machines produce condensation around the output nozzle. Consider this potential moisture accumulation on surfaces below the nozzle when installing the unit.

Overhead Installation

Warning: Risk of Injury from Falling Objects

Devices installed overhead can cause severe injuries if they fall. Ensure the device is securely installed and cannot fall. Installation must be performed by a specialist familiar with hazards and relevant regulations.

The device can be fastened to a truss or similar rigging structure. It must never be fixed to swing freely.

  1. The rigging structure must support at least 10 times the weight of all fixtures to be installed.
  2. Block the work area below and work from a stable platform during installation.
  3. Use rigging hardware compatible with the structure and capable of bearing the device's weight. Refer to the “Accessories” section for suitable hardware.
  4. Secure the device with a safety bond or other secondary attachment. This attachment must be sufficiently dimensioned according to current industrial safety regulations and designed so that no part of the installation can fall if the main attachment fails. An eyelet is provided on the device for the safety rope. Fasten the safety rope so that the maximum drop distance does not exceed 20 cm in case of a fall.
  5. To align the device, release the fixation screws on the mounting bracket, adjust the desired inclination angle, and retighten the screws.
  6. After installation, the device requires periodic inspections to prevent corrosion, deformation, and looseness.

Operation

Operating Conditions

CAUTION!

Prior to transportation, allow the machine to cool down and completely empty the tank. Never operate the fog machine without fog fluid, as this poses a fire hazard due to overheating and can damage the unit.

During operation, smoke emission may temporarily stop as the device reheats. This ensures the correct vaporization temperature for optimal fog emission, regulated by a high-quality thermostat.

The machine can be operated using the supplied cable remote control or a DMX controller. DMX control takes priority over cable remote control.

Switching On/Off

Before switching on, check the fluid level and fill if necessary. Connect the machine to the mains using the power plug. Switch the machine on using the power switch. The warm-up process begins immediately. Fog output is not possible during warm-up. Once the warm-up process is complete, fog output is enabled. After operation, switch off the machine using the power switch.

Operation via Cable Remote Control

For cable remote control operation, disconnect any DMX cable. Connect the remote control to the “REMOTE CONTROL” jack. The magnetic base of the remote allows attachment to the fog machine. When the green LED lights up, the machine is ready. Press the green button on the remote to activate fog output. Fog is emitted as long as the button is pressed. Releasing the button stops the fog output.

DMX Control

Making the DMX Connections

The unit features 3-pin XLR connectors for DMX. Connect your DMX controller's output to the machine's “DMX IN” jack using a DMX cable. Connect the machine's “DMX OUT” jack to the DMX input of the next unit in the chain, creating a daisy-chain. Always connect an output to the input of the next device until all units are connected.

At the last unit in the chain, the DMX cable must be terminated with a 120 Ω resistor plugged between Signal (-) and Signal (+) in the DMX output. For cable lengths exceeding 300 m or more than 32 connected DMX devices, a DMX signal amplifier is recommended for reliable data transmission.

XLR Connection Pinout:

  • DMX Output (XLR socket): Pin 1: Ground, Pin 2: Signal (-), Pin 3: Signal (+).
  • DMX Input (XLR plug): Pin 1: Ground, Pin 2: Signal (-), Pin 3: Signal (+).

Adjusting the DMX Start Address

The fog machine uses one control channel on the DMX controller. To ensure correct signal direction, set the machine's DMX start address to match the address assigned on the DMX controller. The address is set via the DIP switches as a binary number. The address is calculated by summing the values of the DIP switches set to “ON”. When the machine receives DMX control signals, the green DMX indicator lights up, and the machine can be operated via the DMX controller.

DIP Switch Configuration:

The DIP switches (1-9) are used to set the DMX start address. The table below shows how to set them for different device numbers and channels:

Cleaning and Maintenance

General Cleaning

Regular cleaning is recommended. Excessive dust, fluid residue, and dirt can degrade performance and cause overheating. Remove dust from air vents using an air compressor, vacuum, or soft brush. For exterior cleaning, use a soft, lint-free, moistened cloth. Never use alcohol or solvents.

There are no user-serviceable parts inside the device. Maintenance and service operations should only be performed by authorized dealers. Use only genuine spare parts. Dispose of unusable devices according to current legal regulations. Contact your dealer for further questions.

Cleaning the Heating Element After Use

To prevent deposits, clean the heating element with deionized water after each use. Fog machines are prone to clogging due to the consistency of fog liquid. Proper maintenance ensures years of reliable service.

Procedure:

  1. After operation, empty the remaining fluid from the tank into a clean container for storage. Then fill the tank with deionized water.
  2. Run the machine for approximately 3 minutes in a well-ventilated room.
  3. After the cleaning process, empty the tank completely. Residual water may remain in the machine.

Storage

It is recommended to run the machine at least once a month with deionized water. Allow it to warm up and run for approximately 3 minutes.

Replacing the Fuse

If the fine-wire fuse blows, replace it with a fuse of the same type and rating.

  1. Disconnect the device from power and allow it to cool.
  2. Open the fuse holder at the power input using a suitable screwdriver.
  3. Remove the old fuse and insert a new one.
  4. Carefully push the fuse holder back into its position before reconnecting power.
