Airam Motion Sensor 2623319

Installation and Operating Instructions

Introduction

The Airam motion sensor (model 2623319) features a wide detection field covering up, down, left, and right. It operates by detecting infrared radiation emitted by people. When a person enters the detection area, the sensor activates the connected load immediately, functioning in both daylight and darkness. Installation is straightforward, and the sensor offers broad application possibilities.

Functions

Detection Field

The detection field covers areas above, below, left, and right of the device. The detection area can be adjusted according to user preference. The direction of movement influences sensitivity.

Day and Night Identification

Users can adjust the light level at which the device operates. The sensor functions in both daylight and darkness when set to the "sun" position (maximum sensitivity to light). In the "moon" position (minimum), the sensor operates only when the ambient light is below 3 lux.

Time Setting

The time delay can be adjusted by the user. The minimum time is 8 seconds ±3 seconds, and the maximum time is 10 minutes ±2 minutes. The time setting can be extended: if the sensor detects a second signal after the first, it automatically recalculates the delay based on the first setting.

Installation

  1. Switch off the power supply before installation.
  2. Unscrew the bottom cover. Open the cable entry hole. The power and load wires are routed through the bottom.
  3. Mount the bottom cover to the desired wall location using screws.
  4. Connect the power and load wires to the terminal block according to the wiring diagram.
  5. Attach the sensor to the bottom cover, secure it with the screw, and then switch the power back on.

Diagram Descriptions

Dimensions: The base plate has dimensions of approximately 71.5 mm width and 44 mm height. The sensor unit itself has a width of approximately 53 mm.

Wiring: Connect the brown wire to the power input (Live/L) and the blue wire to the power input (Neutral/N). Connect the blue wire to the load and the red wire to the load for the output.

Adjustments: Two control knobs are available: TIME (for adjusting the delay from 8 seconds to 10 minutes) and LUX (for adjusting the light sensitivity threshold from below 3 lux to 2000 lux).

Detection: The sensor offers a 180° detection angle and a maximum detection range of 12 meters.

Testing

  1. Turn the LUX control knob counter-clockwise to the maximum position (sun symbol). Turn the TIME control knob counter-clockwise to the minimum position.
  2. After the initial detection and the load turns off, trigger the sensor again. The load should turn on. The load should then switch off automatically within 5-15 seconds.
  3. Turn the LUX control knob clockwise to the minimum position. If the lux value is set to 3 lux or less, the load should not activate after it has turned off. If the sensor's detection window is covered with an opaque material (e.g., a towel), the load should activate. When no more signals are detected, the load should switch off within 5-15 seconds.

Troubleshooting

Problem: Load does not work

  • Check the power supply and the connected load.
  • If the load is functional, verify that the device's light control setting (LUX) matches the ambient lighting conditions.

Problem: Sensitivity is poor

  • Ensure there are no obstructions or moving objects in front of the detection window that could interfere with detection.
  • Check the ambient temperature; extreme temperatures can affect performance.
  • Verify that the signal source (person) is within the detection field.
  • Confirm the installation height is within the recommended range (0.5 m - 3.5 m).
  • Adjust the sensor's orientation if necessary.

Problem: Sensor does not automatically turn off the load

  • Check if there are continuous signals being detected within the sensor's range (e.g., from heat sources or constant movement).
  • Ensure the time delay (TIME setting) is not set to its maximum duration.
  • Confirm that the connected load's power rating is within the sensor's specifications.
  • Check for nearby devices that might cause rapid changes in air temperature (e.g., air conditioners, heaters), as this can affect sensor operation.

Notes and Safety Precautions

  • Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician or an experienced individual.
  • The sensor should not be installed facing directly towards moving objects that are not intended to trigger it.
  • Ensure that there are no obstructions or moving objects in front of the detection window that could interfere with the sensor's ability to detect motion.
  • Avoid installing the device near areas where air temperature fluctuates significantly, such as near air conditioning units or heaters.
  • For your safety, do not open the sensor's housing after installation if any issues arise.
  • To prevent unexpected damage to the product, it is recommended to install a 6A protective device, such as a fuse or circuit breaker, during the installation of the infrared sensor.
