Mattress Placement
Ensure the Murphy Bed is fully secured to the wall. Two adults should hold the bed down while pulling the frame horizontally level. Then, two other adults can place the mattress, adhering to recommended weight and thickness limits.
Warning Labels
Warning labels are affixed to remind users of safety measures throughout assembly and mounting. These labels should not be removed.
Wall Attachment Requirements
WARNING: The Murphy Bed MUST BE ATTACHED to the Wall for safety.
It is recommended to seek a certified professional consultant or contractor to:
- Determine your home's wall type.
- Procure suitable hardware for your wall type.
- Install and attach the Murphy Bed securely to the wall.
- Validate the installation.
The provided hardware is suitable for WOOD STUDS ONLY. If your walls are different (e.g., concrete, metal studs), discard the provided hardware and obtain appropriate alternatives. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or death.
Safety Precautions:
- Maximum Mattress Weight: 39 lbs (18 kg).
- Maximum Mattress Thickness: 8 inches (20 cm).
- Assembly and attachment must be performed by adults only.
- Keep children, non-ambulatory persons, and pets away during the entire process.
Homes vary in renovation and wall construction (concrete, hollow walls with studs). Always seek professional advice for wall type and mounting.
Assembly Guidance & Reminders
Professional consultation and installation are highly recommended. Ensure your installer understands wall structures and makes precise anchor point markings. Comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

Assembly requires a team of 4 to 6 able-bodied adults. The product may arrive in multiple heavy packages; handle with care, especially small hardware components, to prevent ingestion by children or pets.
This Murphy Bed is intended for ADULT USE ONLY.
Mounting Information & Hardware
If the provided screws do not match your wall type, do not use them. Adhere strictly to your consultant's instructions for relevant mounting hardware. A step ladder is required for attaching brackets; do not lean on the Murphy Bed.
Tools & Attachment Skills
Identify all parts and components before assembly. Lay out parts logically. Initially, tighten bolts to 80% to allow for adjustments, then gradually tighten fully during final assembly. Ensure metal plates and L-brackets are securely attached as they support the pistons. Perform monthly inspections for loose bolts to prevent detachment and potential injuries. Never fully tighten hardware in one session, as this can cause parts to become skewed.
REMINDER: ALL ASSEMBLY WORKS REQUIRES A TEAM OF NO LESS THAN 4 ADULTS.
Assembly Steps Overview
Follow instructions for assembling the Bed Frame and Bed Cabinet. After assembly, clear the area and position the cabinet 2-3 feet from the wall. Crucially, 2 adults must hold and stabilize the cabinet to prevent tipping, as it is not yet attached to the wall.
The Bed Frame is then attached to the Bed Cabinet's L-brackets by two other adults. Gently lift the frame to its closed position.
Pistons, Latches & Final Positioning
Attach pistons to the Bed Frame and Bed Cabinet, securing bolts. Affix safety latches, ensuring they are reachable only by adults (minimum height 5 feet from the ground).
Once assembled but not yet secured to the wall, do not attempt to open or sleep on the Murphy Bed. All four adults must then move the entire unit to its final designated position, aligning with wall markings.
Using Your Murphy Bed
Exercise safety precautions for every use. Keep children and pets away before opening or closing the bed, and prevent them from unlatching safety latches.
CAUTION: DO NOT BE DISTRACTED during opening and closing. Give these actions your full attention. Have an adult partner for assistance and avoid using excessive force.
To Close: Stand 6-10 inches from the footboard. Place hands equally spaced on the frame (2-3 feet apart) and gently lift-pull to close.
To Open: Use equal force, grip the handle, and gently pull towards you. Move backwards slowly and steadily.
Bed Strap & Mattress Recommendations
A bed strap may be included as a guide strap to assist in lifting the frame. Do not use the strap to pull the bed down to open or to lift it closed, as this can cause injury.
Mattress Recommendations:
- Weight: 39 lbs (18 kg) maximum.
- Thickness: 5-8 inches (12.7-20.3 cm) maximum.
Do not use mattresses heavier, larger, or lighter than recommended, as they are calibrated with the piston force.
Piston Newton-Load Strength: Expect resistance when pulling down an empty bed frame; this is normal operation of the piston mechanism.
