1. Safety Instructions

This section outlines critical safety precautions for installing and using Bestway Lay-Z-Spa AirJet models. Always read and follow all instructions to prevent injury or electric shock.

Key Warnings:

  • The spa must be supplied via an isolating transformer or a Residual Current Device (RCD) not exceeding 30mA.
  • Test the pump before each use.
  • Damaged supply cords must be replaced by the manufacturer or qualified persons.
  • Do not use extension cords for power supply.
  • No live parts of the appliance should be accessible to spa users, except safety extra-low voltage parts (<12V).
  • The pump plug must be more than 3.5m away from the spa and accessible after installation.
  • DO NOT USE THE SPA WHEN IT IS RAINING.
  • Do not use the spa during chemical maintenance.
  • Power source must be >4m from the pool and >1.2m high.
  • Always keep the plug dry; never plug/unplug with wet hands.
  • Always unplug the appliance before cleaning, maintenance, or if unattended.
  • Cleaning and user maintenance must be performed by an adult over 18 years old.
  • Store the spa indoors when not in use for a long time (e.g., winter).
  • For electric safety, a leakage current detecting device is incorporated in the power cord. If it activates, unplug immediately and contact a service agent. Do not reset yourself.
  • The appliance must be supplied by an earthed power source.
  • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless supervised. Children must be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.
  • Always attach the spa cover after each use to prevent accidental drowning.
  • Do not bury the power cord.
  • RISK OF INJURY: Never operate spa if inlet/outlet pipes are broken or missing.
  • RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK: Install at least 2m from all metal surfaces. Never operate electrical appliances when in the spa or wet.
  • During pregnancy, limit hot water soaking to 10 minutes (water temperature >40°C/104°F may damage fetus).
  • To reduce injury risk, spa water should not exceed 40°C (104°F). Pregnant women should limit to 38°C (100°F).
  • Measure water temperature with an accurate thermometer.
  • Alcohol, drugs, or medication before/during spa use can lead to unconsciousness and drowning. Consult a physician if you have health conditions or are on medication.
  • Never pour water hotter than 40°C (104°F) directly into the spa.
  • Hyperthermia symptoms include increased body temperature, dizziness, lethargy, drowsiness, and fainting.
  • Electric installations must follow national wiring rules; consult a qualified electrician.

Cautions:

  • Do not set up or leave spa out in temperatures below 4°C (40°F).
  • Do not use the spa alone.
  • People with infectious diseases should not use a spa.
  • Do not use the spa immediately following strenuous exercise.
  • Enter and exit the spa slowly; wet surfaces are slippery.
  • Never operate the pump unless the spa is filled with water.
  • Immediately leave spa if uncomfortable or sleepy.
  • Never add water to chemicals; always add chemicals to water.
  • Refer to "MAINTENANCE" section for cleaning, water maintenance, and disposal.
  • Refer to installation paragraphs for setup.
  • To avoid inadvertent resetting of the thermal cut-out, do not supply this appliance through an external switching device (e.g., timer) or a regularly switched circuit.
  • After 3-5 years, contact a qualified maintenance technician to check safety and performance.

2. Specifications

The Lay-Z-Spa AirJet models are designed for relaxation and enjoyment. The heating duration required to reach 40°C (104°F) depends on the starting water and ambient temperatures. The filter system should run for at least a minute to display the current water temperature.

Heating Duration Reference (to reach 40°C/104°F):

Ambient TemperatureWater TemperatureSet TemperatureHeating Duration
10°C (50°F)10°C (50°F)40°C (104°F)18.5h

30°C (86°F)30°C (86°F)40°C (104°F)5.5h

Note: Always cover the spa with the spa cover when heating is activated to reduce heating duration. Do not use the spa if ambient temperature is below 4°C (39°F).

Detailed specifications for specific models (Vegas, Miami, Palm Springs, Paris, Hawaii, Siena AirJet) including capacity, dimensions, power rates, and parts lists are provided in the full manual. These models typically accommodate 2-6 adults, have a heat element of 2000W, and a water flow of 1325 L/h.

3. Installation

Selected Location:

WARNING: The chosen location must support the spa's expected load, including water and users. It must be smooth, flat, level, and capable of uniformly supporting the weight. Damage from improper support is not covered by warranty.

WARNING: An adequate drainage system is required for both indoor and outdoor installations to handle overflow water.

Indoor Installation:

  • Be aware of humidity effects on exposed materials. Provide plenty of ventilation.

Outdoor Installation:

  • Install near a floor drain as water may flow out during filling, draining, or use.
  • Avoid direct sunlight exposure for long periods.

PRCD Test:

The Portable Residual Current Device (PRCD) plug must be tested before each use to avoid electric shock.

  1. Insert the plug into a suitable power outlet.
  2. Press the "RESET" button; the indicator light turns on.
  3. Press the "TEST" button; the indicator light turns off.
  4. Press the "RESET" button; the indicator light turns on.
  5. Press the "On/Off" button for 2 seconds; the pump is ready to use.

WARNING: Do not use the pump if this test fails. Contact Bestway Aftersales Service.

Inflation Notes:

  • Air expulsion from the air hose connection area during inflation is normal.
  • Do not use an air compressor to inflate the pool.
  • Do not drag the pool on rough ground.
  • Pressure gauge is for reference only, not a precision instrument.

Air Valve Check:

Before inflation, check the air valve for leaks. If loose, use the provided wrench to fasten it by holding the backside of the air valve from the inner spa wall and turning the wrench clockwise. Do not overtighten or adjust when the spa is in use.

4. Pump Operation

Heating Reset:

If the control panel temperature has not changed after 4-5 hours of heating activation, press the RESET BUTTON on the pump with a thin object and restart the heating system.

IMPORTANT: The heating system will not operate if the outside temperature is above 40°C (104°F) or if the spa is under direct sunlight. Wait for a cooler time of day before resetting.

Control Panel Functions:

  • A. Lock/Unlock Button: The pump has a 5-minute auto-lock. To lock/unlock, press and hold for 3 seconds.
  • B. Power-Saving Timer Button: Sets heating duration (1-48 hours) and activation time (0-99 hours from now) to save power. The timer is one-time use and does not repeat.
  • C. Lay-Z-Massage System Button: Activates the massage system (30-minute auto-shutoff). IMPORTANT: Do not run the massage system with the cover attached.
  • D. Celsius/Fahrenheit Toggle: Switches temperature display between °C and °F.
  • E. Heat Button: Activates the heating system. Red light indicates heating; green light indicates set temperature reached. Filtration starts automatically with heating.
  • F. Water Filter Button: Turns the filter pump on/off. Red light indicates activation.
  • G. Temperature Adjustment Buttons: Adjusts desired temperature (20°C/68°F to 40°C/104°F). Default is 35°C (95°F).
  • H. On/Off Button: Press for 2 seconds to activate/deactivate control panel buttons and functions.
  • I. Power-Saving Timer LED: Indicates timer setting (flashing) or activation (solid).
  • J. LED Display: Shows current water temperature. After 72 hours of filtration without timer, the pump hibernates; press lock/unlock to reactivate.

Note: Water heat rate may change if outdoor temperature is below 15°C (59°F) or if the cover is not in position. Run filter system for at least a minute to display current water temperature accurately.

5. Maintenance

CAUTION: Always unplug the pump before beginning spa maintenance to avoid injury or death.

Filter Cartridge Maintenance:

Check and clean filter cartridges daily. Replace soiled or discolored cartridges weekly. (Diagram shows filter cartridge 58323 and filter set P6653 components.)

Water Maintenance:

Keeping spa water clean and chemically balanced is essential. Cleaning the filter cartridge alone is insufficient. Use pool chemicals (chlorine or bromine tablets, not granules) with a chemical floater. Change water approximately every 3 days, depending on usage. Shower before using the spa to prevent cosmetic product residues from degrading water quality.

Recommended Water Chemistry:

pHTotal AlkalinityFree Chlorine
7.4-7.680-120 ppm2-4 ppm

Note: Damage from chemical imbalance is not covered by the warranty. Handle chemicals with care, following manufacturer's instructions. Misuse of chemicals voids warranty.

Draining the Spa:

To drain the spa, disconnect the pump and open the drain valve. (Diagrams illustrate draining steps, including lifting the spa to remove remaining water.)

Cleaning the Spa:

Clean spa walls with soap and water to remove detergent residues and dissolved solids. Rinse thoroughly. NOTE: Do not use hard brushes or abrasive cleaners.

Spa Repair:

For models #54112, #54123, #54148 (and inflatable cover): Use the provided heavy-duty repair patch. Clean area, peel patch, press firmly for 30 seconds before inflation.

For models #54129, #54154, #54156 (not including inflatable cover): Use the provided PVC repair patch and glue (not included). Clean and dry area, cut patch to size, apply glue, wait 30 seconds, place patch, smooth out bubbles, press firmly for 2 minutes. Wait 30 minutes before inflation. Repeat if leaks persist.

Lay-Z-Spa Storage:

Ensure the spa and pump are completely dry. Use the pump to blow dry the spa, pump, and pipes. Remove and discard used filter sets. Re-attach stopper caps to inlet/outlet valves. Store in original package in a warm, dry place.

WARNING: Plastic becomes brittle and susceptible to breaking in subzero temperatures. Freezing can severely damage the spa and void your warranty.
