How to Use the Air Fryer
Before First Use
- Remove all packaging materials. Check that all parts and accessories are accounted for.
- Remove all stickers except the rating label.
- Wipe down the interior and exterior with a damp cloth.
- Wash the basket and rack with warm, soapy water, rinse, and dry thoroughly. The basket and rack are top-rack dishwasher safe. Do not use glass cleaner on the basket window.
Quick Start: How to Cook in the Air Fryer
The air fryer uses a high-speed fan for quick cooking and even results. The basket rack allows air circulation and fat drainage for healthier eating. Use little to no oil for a crisp texture. Toss food with oil separately before cooking.
Step 1: Placement and Power
Place the air fryer on a flat, sturdy, heat-resistant surface with at least 6 inches of clearance on top and in back for proper airflow. Plug in the air fryer.
Step 2: Prepare the Basket
Lower the rack into the basket, ensuring feet point down and there is slight space between the rack and basket bottom. Press down to secure. CAUTION: Never use aerosol cooking spray on nonstick parts as it can chip the coating.
Step 3: Add Food
Place food on the rack and slide the basket into the air fryer. Do not fill the basket past the MAX line to ensure good air circulation.
Step 4: Select Settings and Start
Choose a cooking function (see Cooking Functions section). Set the temperature using the TEMP adjustment buttons and the time using the TIME adjustment buttons. Press START to begin cooking.
Step 5: During Cooking
The SHAKE indicator light and beep may activate halfway through cooking. Remove the basket, shake or flip food, and return it to continue cooking. If shaking is not needed, ignore the indicator; it will turn off automatically. You can press the Light button or remove the basket at any time to check food. Cooking resumes upon returning the basket.
Step 6: Finish Cooking
When the timer is done, the air fryer will beep, cooking will stop, and the READY light will display. Remove the basket, check food for doneness, and serve.

Cooking Tips
Preheating
Preheat for 5 minutes for faster cooking and crispier results. Add extra time if the unit is cold. CAUTION: The interior will be hot after preheating.
Oiling Food
For a crisp exterior, lightly oil foods, especially fresh items. High-fat or prepared foods may not require additional oil.
Batters
Avoid wet batters (e.g., tempura, beer batter) as they may drip off. Use thick, pasty batters or breaded foods instead.
Basket Capacity
Do not overcrowd the basket; this inhibits browning and crisping. Fry food in batches for best results.
Shaking/Flipping
Shake or flip food during cooking for even results, especially for smaller or frozen items. For larger or fragile foods, gentle tossing is recommended.
Checking Food
Check food early to avoid overcooking. The basket can be returned to continue cooking.
Food Safety
Do not rely solely on recipe timing. Check foods for doneness against current safety guidelines due to variations in temperature and food size.
Keep It Clean
The air fryer is easy to clean with its nonstick coating and dishwasher-safe parts.
- Unplug and let the unit cool completely before cleaning.
- To remove the rack, pull straight up using the center holes for easier handling. CAUTION: Do NOT lift the rack out when hot.
- Wash the basket and rack with warm, soapy water, rinse, and dry thoroughly. They are top-rack dishwasher safe. Do NOT use glass cleaner on the basket window.
- Wipe the interior and exterior with a damp cloth. Do NOT put the unit in the dishwasher, submerge in liquid, or use abrasive cleansers.
- Dry the unit and all accessories completely before storing.
Having Trouble?
Problem | Likely Cause | Solution |
---|---|---|
Air-fried food isn't golden brown and crisp. | Food wasn't tossed in oil. | Lightly oiling food (approx. ½ tsp per batch) helps crisp results. Preheating also helps. |
Food cooked unevenly. | Food was overcrowded in the basket; food was not shaken or flipped during cooking. | Fill basket loosely for air circulation. Shake, toss, or flip foods during cooking for even results, especially for frozen items. |
Smoke is coming from the unit. | There is too much fat in the oven. | Avoid very fatty foods (e.g., sausages). Ensure the basket, rack, and interior are clean. Contact Chefman Customer Support if issues persist. |
An error code displayed on the control panel. | If E3 displays, the air fryer shut off due to overheat protection. If E1 or E2 displays, there is a malfunction. | E3: Allow the air fryer to cool fully; it will operate normally. E1 or E2: Contact Chefman Customer Support. |
