Controller Overview
The 8BitDo Zero 2 is a compact Bluetooth gamepad designed for versatile use across multiple platforms.
Key Buttons:
- D-pad
- Select button
- Start button
- Face Buttons (A, B, X, Y)
- Shoulder Buttons (L, R)
Powering On and Off
- Power On: Press and briefly hold the [Start] button.
- Power Off: Press and hold the [Start] button for 3 seconds.
- Force Power Off: Press and hold the [Start] button for 8 seconds.
Connectivity and Pairing
Nintendo Switch
- Press [Y + Start] to turn on the controller. The blue LED blinks 4 times per cycle.
- Press and hold the [Select] button for 3 seconds to enter pairing mode. The blue LED blinks rapidly.
- On your Switch, navigate to Controllers > Change Grip/Order. The blue LED will turn solid when connected.
- The controller will automatically reconnect to your Switch when the [Start] button is pressed after successful pairing.
- Shortcuts:
- Select + Dpad_Down = Switch HOME button
- Select + Start = Switch ZL + ZR buttons
Windows (X-input)
- Press [X + Start] to turn on the controller. The blue LED blinks twice per cycle.
- Press and hold the [Select] button for 3 seconds to enter pairing mode. The blue LED blinks rapidly.
- On your Windows device, go to Bluetooth settings, pair with [8BitDo Zero 2 gamepad]. The blue LED turns solid upon successful connection.
- The controller will automatically reconnect to your Windows device when the [Start] button is pressed after successful pairing.
- Shortcut: Select + Dpad_Down = HOME button
Android
- Press [B + Start] to turn on the controller. The blue LED blinks once per cycle.
- Press and hold the [Select] button for 3 seconds to enter pairing mode. The blue LED blinks rapidly.
- On your Android device, go to Bluetooth settings, pair with [8BitDo Zero 2 gamepad]. The blue LED turns solid upon successful connection.
- The controller will automatically reconnect to your Android device when the [Start] button is pressed after successful pairing.
macOS
- Press [A + Start] to turn on the controller. The blue LED blinks 3 times per cycle.
- Press and hold the [Select] button for 3 seconds to enter pairing mode. The blue LED blinks rapidly.
- On your macOS device, go to Bluetooth settings, pair with [Wireless Controller]. The blue LED turns solid upon successful connection.
- The controller will automatically reconnect to your macOS device when the [Start] button is pressed after successful pairing.
Keyboard Mode
- Press [R + Start] to turn on the controller. The blue LED blinks 5 times per cycle.
- Press and hold the [Select] button for 3 seconds to enter pairing mode. The blue LED blinks rapidly.
- On your device, go to Bluetooth settings, pair with [8BitDo Zero 2 gamepad]. The blue LED turns solid upon successful connection.
- The controller will automatically reconnect to your device when the [Start] button is pressed after successful pairing.
- Note: In keyboard mode, all button inputs will be output as English keyboard characters.

The Zero 2 features a built-in 180 mAh Li-ion battery, offering approximately 8 hours of playtime after a 1-2 hour charge via USB cable. Charging time and playtime may vary based on environmental factors.
Power Saving
- The controller enters sleep mode after 15 minutes of inactivity.
- Press the [Start] button to wake up the controller.
- The controller will automatically shut down if no connection is made within 1 minute of powering on, or after 15 minutes of inactivity following a connection.
