Product Overview
The 8BitDo M30 Bluetooth Gamepad offers a classic design inspired by retro controllers, enhanced with modern Bluetooth connectivity. It is compatible with a wide range of devices including Nintendo Switch, Android, Windows, and macOS.
Gamepad Layout: The controller features a directional pad (d-pad), six primary face buttons (A, B, X, Y, Z, C), two shoulder buttons (L, R), a central 'home' button, a 'star' button for special functions, and a 'pair +start' button for power and pairing operations. It also includes two analog sticks.
Power On/Off
- To turn on the controller, press the start button.
- To turn off the controller, press and hold the start button for 3 seconds.
- To force turn off the controller, press and hold the start button for 8 seconds.
Connecting to Devices
Nintendo Switch
- Turn on the controller by pressing and holding Y + start. The LEDs will rotate.
- Press and hold the pair button for 2 seconds to enter pairing mode. The LEDs will pause briefly and then resume rotating.
- On your Switch, navigate to Controllers > Change Grip/Order. The LEDs will become solid when the connection is successful.
- Once paired, pressing the start button will automatically reconnect the controller.
Note: On Switch, the 'star' button functions as the Screenshot button, and the 'home' button functions as the HOME button.
Android (D-input)
- Turn on the controller by pressing and holding B + start. LED 1 will blink.
- Press and hold the pair button for 2 seconds to enter pairing mode. LED 1 will pause briefly and then resume rotating.
- On your Android device, go to Bluetooth settings, search for and pair with "8BitDo M30 gamepad". The LED will become solid upon successful connection.
- Once paired, pressing the start button will automatically reconnect the controller.
USB Connection: Connect the controller to your Android device via USB cable after completing step 1.
Windows (X-input)
- Turn on the controller by pressing and holding X + start. LEDs 1 & 2 will blink.
- Press and hold the pair button for 2 seconds to enter pairing mode. The LEDs will pause briefly and then resume rotating.
- On your Windows device, go to Bluetooth settings, search for and pair with "8BitDo M30 gamepad". The LEDs will become solid upon successful connection.
- Once paired, pressing the start button will automatically reconnect the controller.
USB Connection: Connect the controller to your Windows device via USB cable after completing step 1.
macOS
- Turn on the controller by pressing and holding A + start. LEDs 1, 2 & 3 will blink.
- Press and hold the pair button for 2 seconds to enter pairing mode. The LEDs will pause briefly and then resume rotating.
- On your macOS device, go to Bluetooth settings, search for and pair with "Wireless Controller". The LEDs will become solid upon successful connection.
- Once paired, pressing the start button will automatically reconnect the controller.
USB Connection: Connect the controller to your macOS device via USB cable after completing step 1.
Turbo Functionality
To activate or deactivate turbo functionality for a button, press and hold the desired button, then press the star button. Note that the d-pad and analog sticks do not support turbo functionality. This feature is not available when connected to a Nintendo Switch.
Battery Information
- Status Indicators:
- Low Battery: Red LED blinks.
- Charging: Red LED stays solid.
- Charging Complete: Red LED turns off.
- The controller features a built-in 480mAh Li-on battery, providing approximately 18 hours of playtime.
- Rechargeable via USB-C cable with a charging time of 1-2 hours.
Safety Warnings
- Always use batteries, chargers, and accessories provided by the manufacturer.
- The manufacturer is not liable for any safety issues arising from the use of non-manufacturer-approved accessories.
- Do not attempt to disassemble, modify, or repair the device yourself.
- Avoid crushing, disassembling, puncturing, or attempting to modify the device or its battery, as these actions can be dangerous.
- Any unauthorized changes or modifications to the device will void the manufacturer's warranty.
Power Saving
- The controller enters sleep mode after 1 minute of no Bluetooth connection.
- It enters sleep mode after 15 minutes of inactivity while connected via Bluetooth.
- Press the start button to wake up the controller.
- The controller remains powered on and connected when using a wired USB connection.
