Basic Operation

Powering On/Off: Slide the power button [⚙️] to the ON position to turn on the headphones. Slide to OFF to turn them off. The headphones will automatically enter standby mode after 15 minutes of inactivity in Bluetooth mode.

Pairing: To initiate pairing mode, press and hold the multifunction button [▶️/?] for 4 seconds. The logo will flash. Navigate to your device's Bluetooth settings and select "Focal Bathys MG" to connect.

Volume Control: Use the '+' [➕] and '-' [➖] buttons to adjust the volume.

Playback Control: The multifunction button [▶️/?] controls playback: press once for play/pause/answer call, twice for next track, three times for previous track.

ANC/Transparency Modes: Press the button on the left earcup to cycle through modes: Silent [?], Soft [?], Transparency [?️]. Press and hold for 2 seconds to change the noise reduction level.

USB DAC Mode: Connect the headphones using the USB-C cable and move the power switch to the DAC position for high-resolution audio.

Charging: Connect the USB-C cable to the headphones and a power source. The battery indicator light [?] flashes white while charging and stays solid white when fully charged.

• Hearing Protection: Listening at high volumes can cause permanent hearing damage. Avoid prolonged exposure to volumes over 85 dB. Always start with the volume low and gradually increase it. Detailed Operation

Powering On, Off, and Standby

Slide the power switch [⚙️] to ON to power on. The headphones will attempt to connect to a previously paired device. To power off, slide the switch to OFF. If inactive for over 15 minutes in Bluetooth mode, they enter standby automatically.

Pairing and Connecting Devices

The headphones can store up to 8 devices. To enter pairing mode, press and hold the multifunction button [▶️/?] for 4 seconds until the logo flashes. On your source device, go to Bluetooth settings and select "Focal Bathys MG". For multipoint connection (two devices), pair the first device, then repeat the pairing process for the second device.

Audio Modes

• Bluetooth®: Ensure the power switch is ON. Automatic pairing on first use.
• Jack: Use the supplied 1.2m (3.9ft) 3.5mm jack cable. Connect it to the right earcup. The power switch must be ON. Bluetooth disconnects when the jack cable is plugged in.
• USB DAC: Use the supplied 1.2m (3.9ft) USB-C cable [?] and move the power switch to the DAC position. This mode supports high-resolution audio.

Playback Controls

• Play/Pause/Answer/End Call: Press multifunction button [▶️/?] once.
• Next Track: Press multifunction button twice.
• Previous Track: Press multifunction button three times.
• Increase Volume: Press '+' [➕] button.
• Decrease Volume: Press '-' [➖] button.

Charging the Headphones

Connect the USB-C cable to the headphones and a power source (5V-2000mA recommended for fast charging). The battery indicator light [?] shows charging status. Full charge takes approximately 1.5 hours (with 2A adapter) and provides up to 30 hours of listening time.

Active Noise Reduction (ANC) and Transparency Mode

Press the button on the left earcup to cycle through modes:

• Silent [?]: Maximum noise reduction.
• Soft [?]: Reduces low-frequency noises, allows some ambient sound.
• Transparency [?️]: Allows ambient sounds and conversations without removing headphones.

Press and hold the ANC button for 2 seconds to change the ANC level within the selected mode.

Voice Assistants

Telephone Communications

When a call is received, playback pauses. Answer/end calls by pressing the multifunction button [▶️/?] once. Reject calls by pressing and holding the multifunction button for 2 seconds.

Product Lighting

LEDs on the earcups indicate status. These can be controlled via the Focal & Naim app.

• Searching for device: LEDs flash
• Pairing mode: LEDs flash slowly

Replacing Earpads

Earpads can be detached by carefully pulling them to release the 6 clips. Ensure correct reattachment for optimal sound and ANC. Replace only with the specified model from an authorized dealer.

Cleaning and Storage

Clean with a soft, dry cloth. For stains on leather, consult a specialist. Store flat in the carrying case when not in use. Fully charge the battery every 3 months if stored for extended periods.

Firmware Updates & Factory Reset

Use the Focal & Naim app to update firmware. To restore factory settings, press and hold the "ANC" and "Transparency" buttons for 8 seconds. For a forced shutdown, press "+", "-" and "ANC" buttons simultaneously.
