Control Panel and Features

This section details the control panel layout and key features of the Whirlpool Top Loading Washing Machine.

Control Panel Layout: The control panel features a display screen and several buttons for cycle selection and modification. Key numbered areas include:

  • 1. [Power Button]: Button to turn the washer on/off or stop/cancel a cycle.
  • 2. [What to Wash / How to Wash]: Selects the type of items and the wash method for the best cycle combination.
  • 3. [LCD Time/Status Display]: Shows the estimated time for cycle completion, adjusted based on load size, water pressure, or load issues.
  • 4. [Start/Pause Button]: Button to start or pause a cycle. Holding it starts the cycle; touching it during a cycle pauses and unlocks the lid (may take longer if spinning).
  • 5. [Cycle Modifiers]: Buttons to adjust specific wash parameters like SPIN speed (Off, Medium, Fast), TEMP (water temperature), and SOIL level (Extra Light to Extra Heavy).
  • 6. [Cycle Options]: Buttons for additional features such as [Remote Enable] (for app control), [Load & Go™] (automatic detergent dispensing), [Fabric Softener] notification, [Deep Water] fill levels, [Delay Start], [Pre-Soak], [Extra Rinse], [Cycle Signal], and [More Options] (like Drain & Spin, Rinse & Spin, Clean Washer, Favorite Cycle).

Note: Appearance may vary depending on the model.

Using Your Washer

Follow these steps for a typical wash cycle:

  1. [Sort & Load Laundry]: Separate and load clothes into the washer. Refer to the Loading Recommendation section for best practices.
  2. [Add Detergent & Laundry Products]: Add High-Efficiency (HE) detergent and other laundry products to the appropriate dispensers. The dispenser drawer may have an insert for powder HE detergent.
  3. [Touch Power]: Press the [Power] button to turn the washer on.
  4. [Select Cycle]: Choose the desired wash cycle from the "What to Wash" and "How to Wash" options.
  5. [Adjust Settings]: Modify cycle parameters like Temperature, Soil level, or Spin speed if needed.
  6. [Select Options]: Add any desired cycle options (e.g., Deep Water, Extra Rinse).
  7. [Start Cycle]: Touch and hold the [Start/Pause] button to begin the wash cycle.

Important Safety Warning: Fire Hazard

[Fire Hazard] Never place items in the washer that are dampened with gasoline or other flammable fluids. No washer can completely remove oil. Do not dry anything that has ever had any type of oil on it (including cooking oils). Doing so can result in death, explosion, or fire.

Loading and Pre-treatment

Loading Recommendation

For optimal performance, load items loosely and evenly around the washplate and agitator. Avoid laying items lengthwise around the washplate or agitator.

Pre-treating Before Running a Wash Cycle

[Water Faucet Operation]: Press the [Faucet] button once to turn the water on and again to turn it off. The faucet automatically shuts off after 10 minutes or when the maximum water level is reached. Water will drain if the level becomes too high or the lid is left open for 10 minutes.

On Load & Go™ models, with the faucet on, you can touch the [Temp] button to select water temperature or the [Load & Go] button to manually dispense detergent.

Using the Pretreat Fabric Brush

The pretreat fabric brush is designed for targeted stain treatment. To use:

  1. Turn the brush body to open it.
  2. Add liquid laundry detergent.
  3. Turn to close the compartment.
  4. To dispense detergent from the brush, press the button.

Advanced Features

Auto Sensing & Deep Water Wash

This washer is designed for efficient cleaning with less water. It automatically adjusts the water level to the optimal amount for the detected load size. For more water, touch the [Deep Water] button. Four levels are available: Auto, Medium, High, and Max Fill. Note that not all levels are available on all cycles. As the washer operates, items may settle; this is normal and does not mean more items should be added. It is normal for some items to be above the water line in high-efficiency washers.

Using the Dispenser

The Load & Go™ dispenser holds up to 1 liter of detergent and automatically dispenses the correct amount during the cycle. The feature is enabled by default unless disabled. To view dispensing options or set a detergent concentration (2X to 10X), touch and hold the [Load & Go] button for 3 seconds. Pull the drawer out completely for refilling.

Cycle Guide

Select the best cycle for your load by first choosing the type of items ("What to Wash") and then the desired wash method ("How to Wash").
