Whirlpool® Top Loading Washing Machine
Control Panel and Features
Control Panel Overview
The control panel features various buttons and indicators to operate the washing machine.
- 1 POWER: Touch to turn the appliance on/off or to stop/cancel a cycle.
- 2 WHAT TO WASH/HOW TO WASH: First, select a cycle from the "What to Wash" category, then choose the "How to Wash" option to achieve the best cycle combination for your laundry. Refer to the "Cycle Guide" for detailed cycle information.
- 3 LCD TIME/STATUS DISPLAY: This display shows the estimated time remaining for the cycle to complete. Factors such as load size, water pressure, tightly packed loads, unbalanced loads, or excessive suds may cause the washer to adjust the cycle time. If a delay start is set, the display will show the adjusted delay time.
- ADD GARMENT: When this indicator is lit, you can pause the cycle, open the lid, and add items. Touch and hold the START/PAUSE button to resume the cycle.
- 4 START/PAUSE: Touch and hold to start the cycle. Touch during a cycle to pause and unlock the lid. Note: If the machine is spinning, the lid may take longer to unlock.
- 5 CYCLE MODIFIERS: (Note: Not all modifiers are available on all cycles)
- SPIN: Touch to modify the available spin speeds (Off, Medium, Fast).
- TEMP: Touch to modify the available water temperatures (Tap Cold, Cold, Cool, Warm, Hot).
- SOIL: Touch to modify the available soil levels. Increase the soil level for heavily soiled items and decrease it for lightly soiled items (e.g., Extra Light, Light, Normal, Heavy, Extra Heavy).
- 6 CYCLE OPTIONS: (Note: Not all options are available on all cycles)
- REMOTE ENABLE: Touch to control the appliance remotely via the Whirlpool® app. Refer to the app instructions for details. Opening the lid cancels "remote enable".
- LOAD & GO™ Bulk Dispenser: This dispenser holds 1L of detergent and automatically determines the best time and amount to dispense detergent for the load. Refer to the "Using the Dispensers" section for more information.
- FABRIC SOFTENER: Touch this button to indicate when fabric softener has been added to the appropriate dispenser.

Using Your Washer
Follow these steps for basic operation:
- SORT & LOAD LAUNDRY: Refer to the Loading Recommendation section for guidance.
- ADD HE DETERGENT & LAUNDRY PRODUCTS TO DISPENSERS: Open the dispenser drawer. Remove the inner tray for powder HE detergent. The appliance also has a bulk dispenser.
- TOUCH POWER TO TURN ON THE WASHER.
- SELECT THE DESIRED CYCLE FOR YOUR LOAD.
- ADJUST CYCLE SETTINGS, IF DESIRED.
- SELECT ADDITIONAL OPTIONS.
- TOUCH AND HOLD START/PAUSE TO BEGIN CYCLE.
WARNING: Fire Hazard. Never place items in the washer that are dampened with gasoline or other flammable fluids. No washer can completely remove oil. Do not dry anything that has ever had any type of oil on it (including cooking oils). Doing so can result in death, explosion, or fire.
Loading Recommendation
For best performance, load items by dropping them in loose heaps evenly around the washplate and agitator. Do not lay items lengthwise around the washplate or agitator.
Pretreating Before Running a Wash Cycle
Water Faucet Operation: Press the faucet button [Faucet Icon] once to turn on the water, and press again to turn it off. The faucet will automatically shut off after 10 minutes or when the maximum water level is reached. Water will automatically drain if the water level becomes too high or if the lid is left open for 10 minutes. On Load & Go™ models, when the faucet is on, touch the TEMP button to select water temperature or touch the LOAD & GO button to manually dispense a dose of detergent.
Using the Pretreat Fabric Brush
- Turn the brush to open the compartment.
- Add liquid laundry detergent.
- Turn to close the compartment.
- To dispense detergent from the fabric brush, push the button.
WARNING: Do not wash water-resistant or water-repellent type clothing. Failure to follow these instructions may result in abnormal vibrating and out-of-balance conditions that could result in physical injury, property damage, and/or appliance damage.
Auto Sensing & Deep Water Wash
The washer is designed and optimized for efficient cleaning using less water. It automatically adjusts the water level for the detected load size. Touch "Deep Water" to add more water to the wash load, with options for Auto, Medium, High, and Max Fill. Note that not all levels are available on all cycles. As the load dampens and moves, items may settle in the basket; this is normal and does not mean more items should be added. You will not see a full basket of water as with older machines; it is normal for some items to be above the water line.
Using the Dispenser*
The Load & Go™ feature is enabled by default for each cycle unless disabled. Touch the LOAD & GO button to view dispensing options. Hold the LOAD & GO button for 3 seconds to select a detergent concentration between 2X and 10X. Pull the drawer completely out for easy refilling.
*On models equipped with Load & Go Dispenser Drawer.
Cycle Guide
Your Whirlpool® washer helps you select the best cycle for your load. The "What to Wash" and "How to Wash" selections guide you to the optimal cycle in two steps: First, determine the items in the load, then select the appropriate "How to Wash" method. For best fabric care, choose the cycle that best fits the load.
Key: R - Recommended Cycle, a - Alternate Cycle, Blank - Cycle is available but not optimal.

*Use this cycle to eliminate 99.9% of bacteria when used with Oxi additives. Preset cycle settings must be used for proper sanitization. Add an Oxi product to the basket before starting.
Note: For models with removable agitators, the Normal cycle is recommended for normally soiled cotton or linen clothes. Government energy certification was based on the Normal cycle with all wash temperature and water fill level selections. Settings as shipped are Normal cycle, Warm Wash, and Auto Water level. For models with a removable agitator, testing was conducted with the agitator installed.
