General Information and Safety
Your safety is paramount. Ride responsibly and adhere to all local traffic rules. Ensure the motorcycle is securely positioned before commencing work. Always verify that the Akrapovič exhaust system and this manual correspond to your specific motorcycle model.
The exhaust system can become extremely hot. Allow it to cool down completely before beginning installation or any other work. Be aware of potential changes in exhaust system compliance with legal requirements (air and noise emissions) after modification or improper installation.
Key Installation Steps
- Stock Exhaust Removal: Follow the original exhaust system manufacturer's instructions for removal.
- Akrapovič System Installation: Carefully slide the link pipe onto the stock collector and hand-tighten the clamp. Assemble the muffler bracket and hand-tighten the bolts.
- Final Tightening: Align the muffler and tighten all bolts and clamps to the specified torque values. Use bolt sealant on marked threads as indicated.
Maintenance and Tips
- Clean grease spots after installation to prevent burning. Avoid aggressive chemical cleaners.
- Refer to specific cleaning instructions for different muffler materials (titanium, carbon-fiber, painted, chrome).
- Periodically check that all bolts and springs are sufficiently tightened.
- A change in exhaust system color due to high temperatures is normal.
- White smoke from the muffler during the first 100 km after replacement is also normal.
- Caution: Do not stand behind the muffler at any time. Avoid cleaning products with acidic additives.
Troubleshooting
If exhaust gas leaks occur at muffler/pipe clamp connections, ensure the clamp is tightened to the specified torque or that the connection is properly joined and then tighten the clamp.
