Safety and Warnings
Please read this user manual carefully to get the most out of your new product and to ensure its longevity and trouble-free performance. Keep it in a safe place for future reference.
- Unpacking: Carefully inspect the product for any signs of damage that may have occurred during transit from the Laney factory to your dealer. If any damage is apparent, repack the unit in its original carton and contact your dealer. Should the unit develop a fault, you may need to return it to your dealer for service, so please retain the original shipping carton.
- Amplifier Connection: It is recommended that a pattern for switching systems on and off is established and followed to prevent damage. Switch on your source equipment, mixers, effects processors etc., before switching on your amplifier with all system components connected. Many products produce large transient surges when switched on and off, which can damage speakers. By switching on your amplifier last and ensuring that the level controls are set to a minimum, any transient signal from other equipment should not reach the loudspeakers. Wait for all system components to stabilize (usually a few seconds). Similarly, when switching off, always turn the level controls on your amplifier down first and switch off the power before switching off other equipment.
- Cables: Do not use screened or microphone cables for speaker connections. These are not adequate to handle the amplifier load and may cause damage to the entire system. Use good quality screened cables for all other purposes.
- Service: Users should not attempt to service these products. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.
- Observe all warnings.
- Follow all instructions.
- Do not use this apparatus near water.
- Clean only with a dry cloth.
- Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
- Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
- Apparatus with a Class I construction shall be connected to a mains socket outlet that has a protective earth connection. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. If the provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.
- Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched, particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus.
- Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.
- Only use with the cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table specified by the manufacturer, or sold with the apparatus. When a cart is used, use caution when moving the cart/apparatus combination to avoid injury from tip-over.
- The mains plug or appliance coupler is used as the disconnect device, the disconnect device shall remain readily operable. Ensure that the apparatus is unplugged during lightning storms or when unused for long periods.
- Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required when the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus, the apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has been dropped.
- Never break off the earth pin. Only connect to a power supply of the type indicated by the marking on the apparatus adjacent to the power supply cord.
- If this product is to be mounted in an equipment rack, a rear support must be provided.
- Important Note for UK Only: The colours of the wires in the mains lead of this appliance may not correspond with the colours marking the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows:
- Wire coloured GREEN AND YELLOW must be connected to the terminal marked with the letter E, by the earth symbol, or coloured GREEN or GREEN AND YELLOW.
- Wire coloured BLUE must be connected to the terminal marked with the letter N or coloured BLACK.
- Wire coloured BROWN must be connected to the terminal marked with the letter L or coloured RED.
- This electrical apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing and that no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the apparatus.
- Exposure to extremely high noise levels can cause permanent hearing loss. Sensitivity to noise-induced hearing loss varies greatly from person to person, but almost everyone will lose some hearing if exposed to sufficient loud noise for a sufficient amount of time. The U.S. Government’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has specified the permissible sound level exposures as follows:
Duration Per Day in Hours Sound Level dBA, slow response 8 90 6 92 4 95 3 97 2 100 1½ 102 1 105 ½ or less 110 ⅓ or less 115 According to OSHA, any exposure over the above permissible limits could result in some hearing loss. Therefore, when operating this amplification system, wear ear protection if the exposure is in excess of the limits indicated above. To prevent potential damage to hearing, everyone exposed to a high sound pressure level should use hearing protectors or other means of protecting the ears as the equipment is operating. This amplification system, like any equipment capable of producing high sound pressure levels, should be used only by those who are adequately experienced in the use of such equipment and who are aware of the precautions necessary to prevent hearing damage.
- If your product is fitted with a tilt-back mechanism or a rebate style cabinet, use this design feature with care. The amplifier can be easily moved between its upright and tilted-back positions, so only use the amplifier on a flat, stable surface. Do not operate the amplifier on a desk, table, shelf or other unsuitable and unstable platform.
