Getting Started
Welcome to the Moto Buds Loop. These wireless earbuds allow you to control multimedia, manage calls, and activate your voice assistant with simple gestures.

Wearing the Earbuds
Attention: Discontinue use and consult a doctor if skin irritation occurs.
- Open the bridge to insert the earbuds. The diaphragm structure (ball-shaped part) should be at the front, and the rear structure (bean-shaped part) at the back of the ear.
- Position the earbuds for the best fit and sound.
Earbud Fit Guide
Note: The earbuds are interchangeable. When worn, they automatically adjust to left and right audio channels. You will hear a "Ding" after the ear insertion detection tone.
Using the Earbuds
Control your music, calls, and voice assistant using the earbud control buttons:
- Single Tap (L or R): Play/pause music, answer/end calls.
- Double Tap (L): Play previous track.
- Double Tap (R): Play next track.
- Triple Tap (L): Increase volume.
- Triple Tap (R): Decrease volume.
- Press and Hold (3 sec, L or R): Activate voice assistant or reject a call.
Tip: For Android users, download the Moto Buds App to customize gestures.
Charging the Earbuds
Note: Remove protective film from earbuds or case before charging.
Charge the case using a USB-C® cable.
Charging with USB-C® Cable
Tips:
- To maximize battery life, store earbuds in the charging case when not in use. Sensors remain active otherwise.
- Earbuds charge automatically in the case if the case is charged.
- Some Motorola phones allow checking earbud and case battery levels via Settings > Connected devices > Settings next to Moto Buds Loop. Refer to the Moto Buds App and LED Status Indicator for more details.
Pairing and Connecting
The wireless earbuds are compatible with Bluetooth-enabled devices for audio playback. They use Bluetooth technology for wireless connection.
Note: If the LED is flashing orange, the case battery is low and not ready for pairing. Charge the case.
Quick Pairing
Quick pairing is available for Motorola devices with Android 12+ and other Android devices supporting Google's Fast Pair.
Tip: Consult your Android device manufacturer for Fast Pair information.
Note: Full Fast Pair access requires a device configured with a Google account.
- Enable Bluetooth on your device.
- With the earbuds in the open case, they automatically enter Bluetooth pairing mode, and a pop-up window appears.
- Tap Connect in the pop-up window and follow on-screen instructions. Download the Moto Buds App if prompted.
Manual Pairing
Manually pair with Bluetooth-compatible devices (smartphones, tablets, computers).
- Enable Bluetooth on your device and open the list of available Bluetooth devices.
- With the earbuds in the open case, press and hold the function button for 2 seconds until the LED indicator flashes blue.

Tip: If a pop-up appears asking to connect before pressing the function button, refer to Quick Pairing.
- Select Moto Buds Loop in your device's Bluetooth settings.
- Follow on-screen instructions to complete pairing.
Dual Connection
The earbuds can connect to two devices simultaneously. Dual connection is disabled by default. Activate it for seamless switching.
Note: At least one connected device must be Android to activate dual connection.
- Install the Moto Buds App on your Android device.
- Ensure earbuds are connected to the Android device (see Pairing and Connecting).
- In the Moto Buds App, tap the toggle next to Dual Connection to activate it.
- Follow steps in Pairing and Connecting to connect to the second device.
Notes:
- When paired with two devices, you can only listen to audio from one device at a time. Call audio takes priority over multimedia, and both take priority over an inactive device.
- If Device A is playing multimedia and Device B is connected, you can play multimedia on Device B, but its audio will be paused or muted until Device A's multimedia is paused.
LED Status Indicator
Refer to the Charging Case section for the LED indicator location.
LED Status | Meaning |
---|---|
Flashing blue | Earbuds are pairing. |
Flashing green (four times) | Earbuds are paired. |
Flashing orange | The case is charging. |
Solid green | Case charging is complete or case battery is above 60%. |
Solid orange | Low battery. |
Flashing white | Earbuds have been reset (see Unpair, restart, or reset earbuds). |
Moto Buds App
Download and Install the App
To fully experience the Moto Buds, download the Moto Buds app from www.motorola.com/mymotobuds or scan the QR code to download from the Google Play™ Store.
Note: The Moto Buds app is for Android devices only. Keep the app updated for the latest features.
Tip: On some Motorola phones, you can access the app via Settings > Connected devices > Settings next to Moto Buds Loop > Install related app.
Once paired and connected to your Android device, use the Moto Buds app to view battery levels, change noise control modes, adjust sound settings, customize gestures, and more.
Moto Buds App Interface
- Device Name: Edit the earbud name by tapping the edit icon.
- Battery Levels: View battery status by placing earbuds in the case.
- Firmware Update: Go to More > Firmware Update > Check for updates.
Change Earbud Sound Settings
Customize your audio experience with various sound settings.
- Ensure earbuds are connected to your Android device (see Pairing and Connecting).
- Open the Moto Buds app on your Android device.
- Tap Sound and customize your earbud sound:
- Tap Spatial Sound or Equalizer for spatial audio with head tracking or select a stereo audio option like Intelligent Audio, Music, Movie, Game, Podcast, or Custom. Each mode offers a unique listening experience. Tap the edit icon to change mode settings.
- Activate Game Mode to minimize latency for immersive gaming.
Note: Some options may not be available in all regions or on all devices.
Customize Gestures
Personalize earbud gestures for calls, music, and voice assistant.
Note: Gesture names may vary by device and software.
- Ensure earbuds are connected to your Android device (see Pairing and Connecting).
- Open the Moto Buds app on your Android device.
- Tap Gestures > Left or Right Earbud and customize gestures:
- Single Tap: Select Play/pause, Next, Previous, Volume Up, or Volume Down.
- Double Tap: Select Play/pause, Next, Previous, Volume Up, Volume Down, or None.
- Triple Tap: Select Play/pause, Next, Previous, Volume Up, or Volume Down.
- Press and Hold: Select Voice Assistant (see Activate Voice Assistant) or None.
Tip: Gestures are enabled by default. To disable a gesture, tap the toggle next to it. You can also find more information by tapping Gestures > View tutorial.
Activate Voice Assistant
Use your voice to control your phone with the earbuds.
- Ensure earbuds are connected to your Android device (see Pairing and Connecting).
- Open the Moto Buds app on your Android device.
- Tap Gestures > Left or Right Earbud > Press and hold, then select Voice Assistant (see Customize Gestures).
- Press and hold the control button on the chosen earbud. Wait for a conversation window on the screen, then speak your command or question.
Enable/Disable In-Ear Detection
In-ear detection automatically pauses music when you remove an earbud and resumes playback when you reinsert it.
- Ensure earbuds are connected to your Android device (see Pairing and Connecting).
- Open the Moto Buds app on your Android device.
- Tap More, then tap the toggle next to In-ear detection to enable or disable it.
Note: Calls remain active on the earbuds even when removed, as long as they are connected. If you manually pause media before removing an earbud, media will not automatically resume when the earbud is reinserted.
Find My Earbuds
Use the Moto Buds app to locate lost earbuds.
Attention: To prevent hearing damage, do not attempt to locate while wearing the earbuds.
- Ensure earbuds are connected to your Android device (see Pairing and Connecting).
- Open the Moto Buds app on your Android device.
- Tap More > Connect to Earbuds, then tap the connect icon to locate the earbud you are looking for.
- To stop connecting, tap the stop icon.
Tip: On some Motorola phones, you can also find earbuds by swiping up from the home screen and tapping Settings > Connected devices > Settings next to Moto Buds Loop > Find device, then tap the speaker icon to connect to the earbud.
Note: For earbuds to emit sound, they must be within range (max 10 meters) and connected to your device.
Troubleshooting Earbuds
Unpair, Restart, or Reset Earbuds
If your earbuds are not functioning correctly, try unpairing, restarting, or resetting them.
- Unpair: To unpair, go to Bluetooth settings on your paired device and tap Forget. On Motorola phones, swipe up from the home screen, tap Settings > Connected devices > Settings next to Moto Buds Loop > Forget.
- Restart: To restart, place both earbuds in the charging case, close the lid, then reopen it.
- Factory Reset: Place earbuds in the open case, press and hold the function button for 12 seconds. The LED indicator will flash white when the factory reset is complete. Pair again (see Pairing and Connecting).
Fixing Errors
If you cannot hear clear audio or people on a call, try these adjustments:
- Adjust the volume on your connected device or move to a different area.
- Clean the ear tips and earbuds, especially the sound outlets and mesh areas (see Cleaning the Earbuds).
- Ensure earbuds and paired device are within maximum Bluetooth range (10 meters). Range may vary by environment.
- Keep earbuds away from electromagnetic waves.

- To prevent hearing damage, do not listen to music at high volumes for extended periods. If you experience discomfort, stop using the earbuds and consult a doctor. Visit motorola.com/accessory-legal for more information.
- Driving safely and responsibly is paramount. Always comply with local laws and regulations. Using earbuds may be distracting or affect environmental awareness. Always be aware of your surroundings.
- The product contains magnets and may interfere with pacemakers and other medical devices. Consult your healthcare provider and the medical device manufacturer before use.
- Chargers not conforming to applicable national standards may be unsafe, posing a risk of death or damage, and may damage the product.
- The product battery is designed to last for the product's lifetime. To prevent burns or injuries, the battery should only be removed by an authorized Motorola service center or qualified personnel. Do not dispose of the battery or product in fire.
- Do not attempt to disassemble, repair, or modify the product. This may damage the product and cause hazards.
- Avoid staring at the LED, which may cause discomfort or temporary vision impairment.
- This product is not a toy. It contains small parts that may pose a CHOKING HAZARD or cause other injuries to small children or animals. Keep the product away from small children and pets.
- Discontinue use and consult a doctor if skin irritation occurs.
- Observe all local restrictions when using the product in public areas such as hospitals, airplanes, or schools. Potentially explosive areas are often marked, but not always, and may include areas of blasting, fueling stations, fuel storage areas (like ship decks), areas of combustible fuel or chemical transfer or storage, or areas where the air contains chemicals or particles like grain dust or metal powders. Stop using the product before entering such areas and do not charge batteries. Sparks in these areas may cause an explosion or fire.
- Do not place the product on heating devices like microwaves, stoves, or radiators. The product may explode when overheated.
- Do not use the product outdoors during thunderstorms.
Usage and Care
- Do not use Moto Buds Loop in temperatures below 0°C (32°F) or above 45°C (113°F). Do not store or transport the product in temperatures below -20°C (-4°F) or above 60°C (140°F).
- Do not expose the product to water, rain, extreme humidity, or other liquids.
- Do not expose the product to dust, dirt, sand, food, or similar materials.
- Do not expose the product to alkaline environments.
- Do not drop, disassemble, puncture, crush, or expose the product to fire.
- Do not place the product in a washing machine or dryer.
Avoiding Water Damage
The product is water and splash resistant, but not completely waterproof. Avoid exposing the product to pressurized water, saltwater, or liquids other than fresh water. Do not intentionally submerge the product in any liquid. Water and splash resistance is not permanent and may decrease with normal use. Liquid damage is not covered by warranty.
To prevent water damage:
- Do not expose the product to pressurized water, saltwater, or other liquids besides fresh water.
- Carefully dry the product and ports with a soft, clean cloth.
- Do not attempt to charge the product when wet.
- Do not drop, puncture, or scratch the product, as this may damage its water-repellent properties.
Cleaning the Charging Case
- Do not submerge the product in cleaning agents or use cleaning materials containing bleach or abrasives.
- Use a soft, damp cloth with 70% isopropyl alcohol (specific for electronics) to clean the exterior of the charging case.
- Gently clean the interior of the charging case, especially the charging contacts, with a soft, dry cloth to remove material buildup.
- Avoid moisture in product openings, including the charging port, microphones, and charging contacts.
Cleaning the Earbuds
- Do not submerge the product in cleaning agents or use cleaning materials containing bleach or abrasives.
- Gently clean the earbuds with a soft, dry cloth, including the charging contacts.
- When cleaning the earbuds, carefully remove any earwax or lint from around the diaphragm structure.
- If necessary, use wipes or damp cloths with 70% isopropyl alcohol (specific for electronics). Avoid moisture in product openings, including microphones and charging contacts.
- Clean the earbuds and charging contacts when placing them back into the charging case.
