5. Wireless Connection
The latest technology supports a wireless CarPlay and Android Auto solution for audio and video separation. Before using wireless connection, pair your device via Bluetooth and ensure the car audio system is set to Bluetooth Music mode.
The connection process involves pairing your smartphone (represented by a ?) with the car (represented by a ?) using the 'Upgrade Kit' via Bluetooth (?).
5.1 Wireless CarPlay
Connect Step:
- Turn on Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on your phone and leave them enabled.
- Select the Bluetooth device name as 'CAR Audio_XXXX' and pair. A request window will pop up to confirm CarPlay usage.
Screenshots show the iPhone Bluetooth settings, device discovery, and a pairing request for 'CAR Audio 4556' with code '481903'. Another screenshot confirms the connection for 'Use CarPlay with "CAR Audio 4556"'.
Audio Source
Please verify on iPhone that the sound source is the original car radio. Screenshots show iPhone Bluetooth settings where 'BMW Connect' is selected as the audio output.
5.2 Wireless Android Auto

6. External Settings
6.1 Rear view camera input
This CarPlay interface supports AHD (Analog High Definition) camera input for clear rearview imagery. The 'Upgrade Kit' connects to a rear camera (?) via yellow RCA connectors. A 'Rear Camera Detect' wire is also present, along with a Ground (?) connection.
6.2 Radar and Trajectory
If the aftermarket camera supports reversing trajectory lines, uncheck the A1 box in the system settings. The A2 box is for the aftermarket radar option; uncheck it to use the radar feature.
To configure these settings:
- Click on "Factory mode" → "Advanced mode" → Enter the password "888888" → "MCU setup".
- Uncheck the "A0" option.
- Return to the previous level and click "Restart System" to enable the reversing rear view function.
Screenshots display the 'MCU Setup' interface with grid options and a slider, used for configuring radar and trajectory settings.
8. Common Problem
8.1 Why will the Box's Bluetooth disconnect?
This is a normal phenomenon in how wireless CarPlay operates. After device information is confirmed via Bluetooth pairing, a Wi-Fi connection is established for data transfer. To avoid interference, the Bluetooth connection is temporarily disconnected.
8.2 I cannot connect the CarPlay, but the Bluetooth already paired
Please forget the Bluetooth device on your iPhone and reset Wi-Fi settings. Navigate to iPhone Settings > General > Transfer or Reset [Device] > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
8.3 Why the wireless CarPlay not Stable?
- Ensure that the mounting position of the CarPlay box is not obstructed by metal parts, as this can affect Wi-Fi signal transmission.
- Change the Wi-Fi channel. Access this via the CarPlay box: Factory Mode > Connectivity Settings > Hotspot Band. Select channel 1, 6, or 11, depending on the current region.
