Safety Precautions
WARNING:
- This unit contains small parts that could be a choking hazard for small children. Adult supervision is required at all times.
- Always unload the unit before moving it. The weight of personal belongings can cause instability, tipping, or collapse, leading to serious injury or damage.
- Do not overload the unit. If any shelf, top, or bottom bows or bends, it is overloaded and could collapse, causing injury or damage.
- Do not climb or step on the unit, as it may become unstable and tip or collapse.
- Do not mount or attach anything to the sides, rear, or front of the unit, as this can create a force that may cause the unit to tip.
- Be careful when mounting cam posts and dowels to panels to avoid damage that could lead to improper assembly and instability.
- Do not hang this unit on the wall, as its structure is not designed for wall hanging.
- Secure the finished unit to the wall using the provided L-brackets, anchors, and wall screws. Failure to do so can create an unsafe tipping hazard.
- Follow proper safety procedures when using power tools and ladders.
- Protect your work surface during assembly to prevent scratches or damage.
Installation Instructions
Step 1: Measure and Plan
- Measure the wall area width and height to determine the best placement for the organizer.
- Plan the placement of closet rods, noting that if they are installed less than 27 inches from the wall or another unit, they will need to be cut. Ensure a minimum 4-inch overlap when connecting rods for stability. Cut the end of the rod WITHOUT the hole.
Step 2: Prepare Shelves
- Push 4 cam locks (AA) into each bottom shelf (x8 total).
- Screw 4 cam posts (CC) into each top shelf (x8 total). Ensure cam posts are screwed into the corner holes as shown.
Step 3: Install Cam Locks in Side Panels
- Push 2 cam locks (AA) into each side panel (x8 total). Ensure the unfinished edges face each other.
Step 4: Install Cam Posts in Side Panels
- Screw 2 cam posts (CC) into each side panel (x8 total). Count holes from the bottom, with the large hole being #1. Install posts into hole #8.
Step 5: Attach Feet and Nuts
- Insert 2 bottom nuts (EE) and 2 feet (FF) into the bottom of two side panels (x4 sets). Use a rubber mallet if needed. The side panels with leveling feet become the BASE UNIT.
Step 6: Attach Bottom Shelf
- Attach the bottom shelf to the side panels using the cam locks and posts. Turn the assembly on its side (finished edges up) and push cam posts into the bottom shelf. Tighten cam locks. Repeat for the second set of side panels.
Step 7: Attach Top Panel
- Attach the top panel to the base unit and top unit. Place the top shelf (cam posts facing down) into the holes in the top of the side panels. Tighten cam locks.
Step 8: Attach Gussets
- Turn the unit over so unfinished edges are up. Ensure shelves and gables are square.
- Attach triangle gussets (MM) to the corners of the base and top units using a hammer and 5 nails per gusset. Ensure all edges are aligned.
Step 9: Secure Base Unit to Wall
- Use a level and adjust leveling feet to ensure the unit is square.
- Place L-brackets (LL) inside the unit and below the top gusset. Mark hole locations on the wall.
- Drill a 1/4" hole and insert a wall anchor (II). Secure the L-bracket to the wall with a wall screw (JJ).
- Drill a 1/16" pilot hole and secure the L-bracket to the gable with an L-bracket screw (KK) through the largest hole. Repeat for the opposite side.
Step 10: Attach Top Unit to Wall
- Place dowels (KK) into the center holes along the top edge of the base unit.
- Align the dowels with the holes in the bottom of the top unit. Use a two-person lift if necessary. Stack the units.
- Repeat Step 9 to secure the top unit to the wall.
Step 11: Install Adjustable Shelves and Hole Covers
- Push shelf supports (DD) into desired holes. Place adjustable shelves (D) onto the supports.
- Push hole covers (BB) into open holes at the bottom of the unit.
Step 12: Install Rod Brackets and Rods
- Place rod brackets (HH) under the top shelf, 1/8" back from the front edge. Measure and mark hole locations. Secure each bracket with two rod bracket screws.
- Hook closet rods (JJ) onto the brackets. Extend the rod to the wall and hold another bracket in place. Mark hole locations. Repeat for all brackets.
- Drill 1/4" holes at marked locations. Insert wall anchors (II) and secure with wall screws (KK). Install closet rods into brackets.
