IMPORTANT: Dimensional specifications are provided for planning purposes only. Do not make any cutouts based on this information. Refer to the Owner's Manual before selecting cabinetry, verifying electrical/gas connections, making cutouts, or beginning installation.
Location Requirements
IMPORTANT: Observe all governing codes and ordinances. Do not obstruct the flow of combustion and ventilation air.
- The installer is responsible for complying with installation clearances specified on the model/serial/rating plate, located on the underside of the cooktop base.
- Install the cooktop in a location away from strong draft areas (e.g., windows, doors, strong heating vents or fans).
- Seal all openings in the wall or floor where the cooktop is to be installed.
- Use the specified cabinet opening dimensions; these are minimum clearances.
- A grounded electrical supply and proper gas supply connection must be available. Refer to "Electrical Requirements" and "Gas Supply Requirements" sections.
- The cooktop is designed to hang from the countertop by its side or rear flanges.
- Locate gas and electric supply connections for accessibility without removing the cooktop.
- Provide a cutout in the right rear corner of the cutout enclosure for gas inlet, power cord, and rating label visibility.
IMPORTANT: To avoid damage, consult your builder or cabinet supplier to ensure materials will not discolor, delaminate, or sustain other damage.
Mobile Home-Additional Installation Requirements: Installation must conform to the Manufactured Home Construction and Safety Standard, Title 24 CFR, Part 3280 (or ANSI A225.1/NFPA 501A or local codes). In Canada, conform to CAN/CSA-Z240.1 or local codes.
Cabinet Dimensions and Clearances
IMPORTANT: If installing a range hood or microwave hood combination above the cooktop, follow their specific installation instructions for clearances above the cooktop surface.
Diagram Description: A diagram illustrates cabinet cutouts and clearances, with labels A through M.
- A: Cooktop width (30" or 36" models).
- B: Combustible area above countertop (indicated by dashed box).
- C: Minimum clearance between cooktop platform and bottom of uncovered wood/metal cabinet: 34" (86 cm). If cabinet bottom is covered with flame-retardant millboard and metal sheet (specific thicknesses apply), clearance can be 24" (61 cm).
- D: Recommended upper cabinet depth: 13" (33 cm).
- E: 23⁄4" (6.9 cm).
- F: 1913⁄16" (50.3 cm).
- G: Minimum clearance from upper cabinet to countertop: 18" (45.7 cm).
- H: Grounded outlet location: within 24" (61 cm) of the right rear corner of the cutout.
- I: Cooktop width (30" models: 287⁄8" [73.4 cm]; 36" models: 353⁄16" [89.4 cm]).
- J: Side combustible surface clearances. For 30" models: 123⁄4" (32.4 cm) minimum to each side, 783⁄8" (199.1 cm) total. For 36" models: 127⁄8" (32.7 cm) minimum to each side, 847⁄8" (215.6 cm) total.
- K: Minimum distance to rear combustible surface: 27⁄8" (7.3 cm).
- L: Gas line opening (wall): anywhere below countertop underside (5" [12.7 cm]). Cabinet floor: recommended within 6" (15.2 cm) of rear wall.
- M: Required countertop depth: 253⁄8" (64.4 cm) or more.
Cabinet Notes:
- Some installations may require notching base cabinet side walls. Use a wider base cabinet to avoid this.
- If a cabinet has a drawer, ensure 4" (10.2 cm) clearance between the countertop and the drawer top to avoid interfering with the regulator. Drawer depth may need shortening.
Electrical Requirements
⚠️ WARNING: Electrical Shock Hazard
- Plug into a grounded 3-prong outlet.
- Do not remove the ground prong.
- Do not use an adapter.
- Do not use an extension cord.
- Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, fire, or electrical shock.
IMPORTANT: The cooktop must be electrically grounded according to local codes and ordinances, or the National Electrical Code (ANSI/NFPA 70) or Canadian Electrical Code (CSA C22.1).
The electronic ignition system requires proper polarization. If codes permit, a qualified installer should verify the ground path adequacy.
Code Standards Information:
- National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)
- CSA International
Electrical Supply:
- Requires a 120 V, 60 Hz, AC only, 15 A fused electrical circuit.
- A time-delay fuse or circuit breaker is recommended.
- A separate circuit exclusively for this cooktop is recommended.
- Proper grounding and polarity are necessary for the electronic ignition system. Verify the outlet provides 120 V and is correctly grounded.
- Wiring diagrams are provided with the cooktop.
Gas Supply Requirements
⚠️ WARNING: Explosion Hazard
- Use a new CSA International approved gas supply line.
- Install a shut-off valve.
- Securely tighten all gas connections.
- For propane connections, ensure gas pressure does not exceed 14" (36 cm) water column, verified by a qualified person (licensed heating personnel, authorized gas company personnel, or authorized service personnel).
- Failure to comply can result in death, explosion, or fire.
Observe all governing codes and ordinances. Installation must conform to local codes and ordinances, or the National Fuel Gas Code (ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54) or Canada's Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code (CSA B149.1).
IMPORTANT: Perform leak testing according to manufacturer's instructions.
Type of Gas:
- This cooktop is factory set for Natural Gas.
- For Propane gas conversion, consult the "Propane Gas Conversion" section and a qualified service technician. The model/serial/rating plate indicates usable gas types.
- Conversion must be done by a qualified service technician. Do not attempt conversion without consulting the gas supplier. Refer to provided Gas Conversion instructions.
