Controller Layout and Features

The controller features two detachable Joy-Con units. Each unit includes:

• Left Unit: Analog stick (L3), D-pad, -, +, SL button, SR button, M button (for programming), Vibration button, Unlock mechanism, Type-C port.
• Right Unit: Analog stick (R3), X/Y/A/B buttons, +, -, SL button, SR button, M button (for programming), Vibration button, Unlock mechanism, Type-C port.
• Top/Front: Shoulder buttons (L, R, ZL, ZR), Turbo button, Capture button, Home button.
• Mid-section: Mid bridge connector.
• LED Indicator: Located on each Joy-Con unit.

Wake-up and Sleep Mode

Wake-Up Mode

Press the Home button to wake the console from sleep mode (when wirelessly connected).

Sleep Mode

1. When the controller is on, press and hold the HOME button for 3 seconds to put the controller to sleep (when wirelessly connected).
2. When the controller is paired with the console, it will automatically sleep after 150 seconds if it cannot be paired.
3. When the controller is connected to the console, it will automatically sleep if there is no action for 5 minutes.

Switch Console Connection

System Requirements

• Required System: Switch 1.0.0 or above.
• Features wake function, no NFC functionality, no IR camera.
• Supports only local upgrade package upgrades.
• Joy-Cons support single controller connection; pairing is required only for the initial connection.

Joint Pairing

Simply connect the Joy-Con controllers to the console.

Button Pairing / Wireless Pairing

1. Open the "Controllers" option on the Switch console, select "Change Grip/Order," and wait for the controller to connect.
2. Press the Sync button to activate the right Joy-Con, then press the Sync button to activate the left Joy-Con. Hold the pairing button on the side of the controller you wish to pair for at least three seconds to enter pairing mode.
3. Once successfully paired, the player LED(s) corresponding to the controller number will remain lit.

Confirming Joy-Con Usage

When individually paired, the console may not determine if the left and right Joy-Cons are meant to be used as a pair or as separate controllers. To confirm, follow these steps:

To use as a pair of controllers: Simultaneously press the L button (left Joy-Con) + R button (right Joy-Con), OR simultaneously press the ZL button (left Joy-Con) + ZR button (right Joy-Con).

To use as individual controllers: Simultaneously press the SL button + SR button on the Joy-Con you intend to use.

Turbo Functionality

Supported buttons for Turbo function: A, B, X, Y, L, R, ZL, ZR, D-pad.

Each Joy-Con can independently configure buttons on its respective side. The Turbo function resets to default after the controller is powered off.

Quick clear of turbo settings: Long press the Turbo button for 5 seconds; successful clearing is indicated by controller vibration.

Turbo Mode

• Turn On: Hold the button you wish to assign the turbo functionality to, and press the Turbo button to enable turbo mode.
• Turn Off: Hold the button you wish to deactivate the turbo functionality from, and press the Turbo button twice to disable turbo mode.

Auto Turbo Mode

• Enable: Hold the button you wish to assign the turbo functionality to, and press the Turbo button twice to enable auto turbo mode.
• Disable: Hold the button you wish to deactivate the turbo functionality from, and press the Turbo button to disable auto turbo mode.

Speed Adjustment

The turbo speed can be set to Fast, Medium, or Slow (Medium is the default setting).

• Left controller adjustment: Hold the Turbo button and simultaneously press "-" to adjust turbo speed.
• Right controller adjustment: Hold the Turbo button and simultaneously press "+" to adjust turbo speed.

Programmable Back Button Function

Supported programmable buttons: A, B, X, Y, L, R, ZL, ZR, L3, R3, D-pad, -, +.

The left M button is solely for programming buttons on the left Joy-Con; the right M button is solely for programming buttons on the right Joy-Con. Maximum of 20 steps for setup.

The controller possesses memory functionality, retaining programmed settings even after shutdown and reboot, requiring manual clearing.

Setup

Hold the M button, input the button you wish to program, release the button; the controller vibrates, indicating successful setup. You can then use the ML/MR button to trigger the function.

Clearing Settings

Hold the M button for 3 seconds, release the button; the controller vibrates, indicating successful clearing.

Light Adjustment

The left/right Joy-Con needs to be adjusted individually.

Controller Light Adjustment

• Single-color light mode: Press the Turbo button and the R3/L3 button to change the overall light color. Press to cycle through colors: red/yellow/blue/green/purple/orange/white/rainbow.
• Breathing mode: Press the Turbo button and press the R3/L3 button twice simultaneously to enter breathing mode. Repeat to cycle through different breathing modes (7 color, RGB, exit breathing mode).
• Brightness Adjustment:
  • Increase: Press Turbo button and Up on the joystick.
  • Decrease: Press Turbo button and Down on the joystick.

ABXY Light Adjustment

Press the Turbo button three times to switch modes (cycles through bright mode, breathing mode, light off).

Motor Vibration Adjustment

There are five intensity levels: 100%, 75%, 50%, 25%, and 0%. The vibration intensity can be cycled through.

The left and right handles can be used as separate handles to adjust vibration.

Setup

Press and hold the back vibration button to adjust the motor's vibration intensity.

Battery Status

Firmware Upgrading

Note: The joystick stays in power-off mode. Open the upgrade file on your computer.

1. Press and hold the L3/R3 button on the controller, then plug in the USB cable connected to your computer to enter upgrade mode.
2. Click "Update Firmware" on your computer.
3. Wait for the upgrade to complete.
