Congratulations on your purchase and thank you for choosing the Groov-e GV-DR03 Paris, Personal DAB FM Radio. Please read the user guide carefully before using.

Important Safety Information

1. Keep the product and all its parts out of reach of small children.
2. Do NOT leave it in high temperatures as electronic devices and plastic parts may warp in heat. No naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, should be placed on the product.
3. Do NOT leave it in low temperatures as moisture can form inside the product, which may damage the circuit board.
4. Do NOT attempt to open the product. This product does not contain any user serviceable parts. Unauthorised handling of the device may damage it and will void your warranty.
5. Disconnect your Radio from the mains power supply during thunderstorms.
6. Always check that you have completely switched off your Radio, before you change or disconnect the power supply.
7. If the Radio will not be used for a long period of time, make sure that all of the batteries are removed from the battery compartment and the mains power is unplugged.
8. Never throw batteries in a fire or attempt to open the outer casing. Batteries should not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire or the like. Dispose of old batteries carefully.
9. Batteries are harmful if swallowed, so keep away from young children.

Only use the power supply that came with the product. The specified external adaptor (OBLIEVE, Model name: OBL-0591000B). Using an unauthorised power supply will invalidate your guarantee and may irrecoverably damage the product.

Caution: Danger of explosion if batteries are incorrectly replaced.

Warning: To prevent possible hearing damage, do not listen to this radio using earphones at high volume levels for long periods of time.

Overview

The Groov-e GV-DR03 Paris is a portable DAB/FM radio with Bluetooth connectivity.

Front Panel Description:

• LCD Display: Shows station information, time, and menu options.
• Speaker: Located on the front grille.
• Buttons: Power/Mode, Menu, Preset, Select, Vol+, Vol-, <Tune, Tune>.

Back Panel Description:

• Telescopic Antenna: For receiving DAB and FM signals. Fully extend for best reception.
• Power Socket: For connecting the mains power adapter.
• 3.5mm Stereo Headphone Socket: For connecting headphones.

Battery Compartment:

Located on the back, requires 4 x AA Alkaline batteries (not supplied).

Operation

Setting Up

1. Connect the mains power lead into the socket on the back of the radio and fully extend the telescopic aerial in a vertical position to obtain the maximum signal strength.
2. Plug the power adaptor into the mains power wall socket and switch on.
3. The display will light up and 'Welcome to Digital Radio' will be displayed, followed by "time is not set". Short press the power button and your radio will switch on and begin an automatic scan for DAB stations. A progress bar will show the progress of the scan and the number of stations found will also be displayed.
4. Use the <Tune and Tune> buttons to scroll through the station list and short press the Select button.

Inserting the Batteries (Optional)

Before installing batteries, ensure the radio is switched off and unplugged from the mains power supply.

1. On the back of the radio, push in the tab to release and remove the battery compartment cover. Insert 4 x AA good quality alkaline batteries, making sure to note the '+' and '-' markings and position the batteries the correct way around. Replace the battery cover, making sure it 'clicks' shut.
2. For battery operation, please switch off the mains adaptor and remove the mains power plug from the back of the radio.

Telescopic Aerial

For DAB and FM Radio, please make sure that the telescopic aerial is fully extended to ensure the best possible sound quality and reception is available when the radio is scanning for DAB or FM stations.

Button Functions

• Power: Short press: Power on (In battery mode, press and hold to power on). Short press: Change the mode (DAB/FM/Bluetooth). Short press when the Alarm sounds: Alarm off. Long press: Standby mode (when using mains power). Long press: Power off (when using battery power).
• Preset: Long press: Store DAB or FM radio presets (10 DAB/10 FM). Press Select to confirm. Short press: Recall stored DAB or FM radio presets. Press Select to confirm.
• Select: Short press: Select a displayed DAB radio station in the station list. Select or confirm an option in the Menu/Confirm or Select a radio Preset. Short press when the Alarm sounds: Activates a 10 minute Snooze.
• Vol +: Short press: Increase the volume in steps. Long press: Progressively increase the volume.
• Vol -: Short press: Decrease the volume in steps. Long press: Progressively decrease the volume.

Menu Navigation

• Power on mode: Long press: Enter the Menu options. Repeatedly Short press: To scroll through the displayed radio station information. Short press within the menu: Steps back and exits the Menu.
• Standby mode: Repeatedly Short Press: to turn ON/OFF Alarms 1 & 2. Long Press: to enter backlight set up.

Tuning

• <Tune: Short press in DAB mode: Moves back through the DAB station list. Short press in FM mode: Moves down the frequency band in 0.05MHz steps. Short press in the Menu: Moves through the Menu options. Short press in Preset Store or Recall: Moves through the presets (1-10). Long press in FM mode: Scans down the frequency band.
• Tune >: Short press in DAB mode: Moves forward through the DAB station list. Short press in FM mode: Moves up the frequency band in 0.05MHz steps. Short press in the Menu: Moves through the Menu options. Short press in Preset Store or Recall: Moves through the presets (1-10). Long press in FM mode: Scans up the frequency band.

Headphones

You can connect headphones with a 3.5mm plug (not included) to your radio. The headphone socket can be found on the back of the radio. When you have the headphones connected, the radio speaker is switched off.

Changing DAB Stations

1. Press and release the <Tune or Tune> buttons to scroll through the available stations in the station list.
2. When the station that you would like to listen to is displayed, press and release the Select button. There will be a short delay whilst your DAB radio tunes to your selected station.

Tuning to an FM Station

1. Press and hold the Tune> buttons to scan up the frequency band or Press and hold the <Tune button to scan down the frequency band.
2. Press and release the <Tune or Tune > buttons to fine tune each frequency in 0.05MHz steps.

Storing a DAB or FM Station to a Preset Location

Your radio can store up to 20 radio stations (10 DAB and 10 FM) in its preset memories for instant access to your favourite stations.

In DAB or FM mode:

1. Tune your radio to the station that you wish to preset.
2. Press and hold the Preset button until '<Preset Store <1: (Empty) >' is displayed, if no previous station has been stored.
3. Press and release the <Tune or Tune > button to scroll to the preset location that you would like to store the radio station to (1-10).
4. Press and release the Select button, the display will confirm 'Preset X stored', where 'X' is the number of the preset (1-10).

Tune to a DAB or FM Preset Station

In DAB or FM mode:

1. Press and release the Preset button.
2. 'Preset Recall < 1: xxxxxx >' is displayed and the name or frequency of the station stored there, or '(Empty)' if no previous station has been stored.
3. Press and release the <Tune or Tune > button to scroll to the preset location and station that you would like to listen to (1-10).
4. Press and release the Select button. The radio will tune to that station and begin to play.

Radio Display Information

When listening to a DAB or FM radio station, you can change the information that will appear on the second line of the display. There are several different types of information that are sent by the broadcaster.

1. Repeatedly press and release the Menu button to cycle through the different information options. Within the Menu of your product, you will find settings that you can change such as the backlight, as well as a Sleep timer and dual Alarm. In DAB mode, you can also rescan for DAB stations if you have moved your radio, or to make sure that you have the most up to date station listing stored within the memory of your radio.

To Use the Menu

In DAB or FM mode:

1. Press and hold the Menu button.
2. Use the <Tune and Tune> buttons to scroll through the options available.
3. Press and release the Select button to choose or confirm an option.
4. Repeatedly press and release the Menu button until you return to the station display.

Full Scan DAB

Additional radio stations and services regularly become available, so it's a good idea to carry out a manual scan every now and then. If you have moved your radio to another location, it's also a good idea to carry out a manual scan.

In DAB Mode:

1. Press and hold the MENU button until FULL SCAN is displayed, then press the SELECT button.
2. A bar graph showing the progress of the scan and the number of radio stations found so far, as well as "SCANNING..." will be displayed.

Setting the Alarm

1. Long press the Menu button to enter the menu options.
2. Short press the Tune > button or next buttons to scroll to <System>. Short press the Select button.
3. Short press the < Tune and Tune > to scroll to <Alarm>. Short press the Select button. Alarm 1 Setup is displayed (Short press the Select button or use < Tune and Tune > button to set Alarm 2). Short press the Select button.
4. Alarm 1 Wizard On time is displayed and the hour digits for the alarm will flash.
5. Use < Tune and Tune > to scroll to the hour for the alarm and short press the Select button to change and confirm the alarm time, each alarm option and setting.
6. The minutes will now flash. Use the < Tune and Tune > button to scroll to the minutes for the alarm and short press the Select button. The duration time will now flash.
7. Use the < Tune and Tune > button to scroll to the duration for the alarm and short press the Select button. You can choose from 15, 30, 45, 60, 90 and 120 minutes. Short press the Select button. The source for the alarm will now flash.
8. Use the < Tune and Tune > button to scroll to the sound source for the alarm. You can choose from Buzzer, DAB or FM. Short press the Select button.
9. Use the < Tune and Tune > button to the frequency for the alarm. You can choose from Daily, Once, Weekends or Weekdays, press the Select button to select.
10. Use the < Tune and Tune > button to set the volume for your alarm. Press the Select button to select.

Alarm Volume Note

You will not be able to set the alarm for less than 4 volume bars. Remember to set the alarm radio volume to one that will wake you. The alarm volume will increase progressively until it reaches the alarm volume you have set. 'Alarm 1 (or 2) Wizard' is displayed again, together with 'Alarm Off (or On)'. Use the < Tune and Tune > button to choose 'Alarm On' or 'Off' as appropriate and press the Select button to select. 'Alarm Saved' is displayed. In Standby mode a bell symbol ? in the top right of the display will confirm when an alarm has been set.

Time Not Set Note

If the time is not set or has failed to update from the radio signal, 'Time is not set' will be displayed when you try to set the alarm. The radio will then prompt you to set the time. An alarm can only be set after the time has been set.

Stop the Alarm

If you have set an alarm, when the alarm sounds press and release the Power button to stop the Alarm. 'Alarm Off' will be displayed. Alternatively, you can press and release the Select button to Snooze (see Snooze function below).

Snooze

When the alarm sounds, you can press and release the Select button to snooze for 10 minutes. A snooze time countdown will be displayed until the alarm sounds again.

Sleep Timer

You can set your radio to switch to Standby mode automatically using the sleep timer. You can choose from Sleep off, 15, 30, 45, 60, 90 minutes. With your radio switched on (not in Standby mode):

1. Long press the Menu button to enter the menu options.
2. Short press the Tune> button to scroll to <System>. Short press the Select button. <Sleep> will be displayed.
3. Use < Tune and Tune > button to scroll through the available options. Stop when the sleep time you would like is displayed and short press the Select button. <Sleep> will be displayed.
4. In the top right of the radio display, the number of minutes until your radio will switch to Standby mode automatically will be displayed, e.g. S60.

Dynamic Range Control (DRC) in DAB Mode

The dynamic range for each radio programme is set by the broadcaster for each radio station and may be different for the types of programme broadcast, such as pop or classical music or a chat show. The dynamic range control signal is transmitted in parallel with the audio signal for each programme and with your radio you can use this control signal to expand or compress the dynamic range (the difference between the loudest and quietest sounds) of the reproduced audio signal. Changing the dynamic range can affect the 'loudness' and/or 'quality of sound' of the programme that you hear so that it will be more suited to your listening conditions and your own personal listening requirements. e.g. in a noisy environment, where quiet sounds might be swamped, setting the compression to maximum will 'boost' the quiet sounds, whilst keeping the loudest sounds at their original level. There are 3 levels of compression:

• DRC off - no compression. This is the default setting.
• DRC low - medium compression.
• DRC high - maximum compression.

1. Long press the Menu button to enter the menu options.
2. Use the < Tune and Tune > buttons to scroll to <DRC>. Short press the Select button.

Pairing the Radio using Bluetooth

Repeatedly press the POWER button until you are in BLUETOOTH mode. Your radio will begin searching for Bluetooth devices and "Searching..." is displayed.

Enable Bluetooth on your radio device and search for available Bluetooth connections. Select GV-DR03 from the list. If you are asked for a password, enter 0000. "BT connected" will be displayed on your Radio once it has been paired successfully.

• Select button: Press and release: to Play / Pause. Press and hold: for 3 seconds to disconnect current device and search for new device to pair.
• Tune-: Press and release to prev. track.
• Tune+: Press and release to next track.

Display Backlight Timeout

You can adjust the display backlight timeout. Options of permanently ON, 10, 20, 30, 45, 60, 90, 120, and 180 seconds are available.

1. Press and hold the Menu/Info button to enter the menu options.
2. Use the <Tune and Tune> buttons scroll to '<System>'. Short press the Select button.
3. Use the <Tune and Tune> buttons scroll to '<Backlight>'. Short press the Select button to select. '<Timeout>' is displayed, press select.
4. Use the <Tune and Tune> buttons to scroll through the available backlight timeout options of ON, 10, 20, 30, 45, 60, 90,120 or 180 seconds.
5. Press and release the Select button to select.
6. Press and release the Menu/Info button until you return to the station display.

Display Language

You can change the display language of your radio; there are 4 options available: English, French, German and Italian. An '*' will be displayed next to the current setting.

With your radio switched on (not in Standby mode):

1. Long press the Menu button to enter the menu options.
2. Short press the Tune> button to scroll to <System>. Short press the Select button.
3. Use the <Tune and Tune> button to scroll to <Language>. Short press the Select button.
4. Use the <Tune and Tune> button to scroll to the language you would like. Short press the Select button.

Software Version

You can check the software version of your radio.

With your radio switched on (not in Standby mode):

1. Long press the Menu button to enter the menu options.
2. Short press the Tune > button to scroll to <System>. Short press the Select button.
3. Use the < Tune and Tune > button to scroll to <SW Version>. Short press the select button. The software version will be displayed.

Factory Reset

You can reset your radio and restore all of the original factory settings.

With your radio switched on (not in Standby mode):

1. Long press the Menu button to enter the menu options.
2. Short press the Tune > button to scroll to <System>. Short press the Select button.
3. Use the < Tune and Tune > button to scroll to <Factory Reset>. Short press the Select button. Factory Reset? Yes <No> will be displayed.
4. Short press the Tune > button to scroll to <Yes>. Short press the Select button. Restarting... will be displayed. After a few seconds "Welcome to Digital Radio" will be displayed, then go to standby mode.

Subject to the conditions stated below, Groov-e guarantees this equipment against defects in workmanship or materials of its mechanical and electronic component parts (excluding styling, battery cells, magnetic tapes, re-chargeable batteries, user removeable memory devices, with the exception where the battery is inbuilt into the product) for a period of one year from the date of purchase. This product will be repaired or if necessary replaced free of charge if it has been proven to be defective within the one year warranty period.

1. Claims under this guarantee should be made through the authorised dealer/retailer from whom the equipment was purchased. If this is not possible, please contact Groov-e directly.
2. This guarantee is only valid when the equipment is purchased and retained within the United Kingdom and a valid proof of purchase has been provided.
3. This Guarantee Excludes:
   • (i) All damage caused through accident, misuse, wear and tear, neglect, installation and/or use in a manner inconsistent with technical and safety standards.
   • (ii) Alterations or adjustments made to equipment.
   • (iii) Loss of data resultant from malfunction of hard drive or other storage device.
   • (iv) Damage caused to any third party device as a result of using the product.
4. No liability under this guarantee shall be incurred:

6. The cost of carriage to and from Groov-e shall be borne by the purchaser.

8. If the equipment, in respect of which a claim hereunder is made, is found on examination to comply with the published specifications, a test fee may be incurred.
