Hook-up and Controls
The ULTRATONE amplifiers are designed for various setups. The following sections detail the controls and typical hook-up configurations.
Step 2: Controls
The LEVEL controls adjust the signal level for each channel. The FX controls adjust the signal level sent to the integrated effects processor. The master LEVEL control adjusts the overall output volume.
The amplifiers feature a graphic equalizer (7-band for K3000FX/K1800FX, 5-band for K900FX/K450FX) to tailor the sound to room acoustics. The FBQ Feedback Detection System helps identify and reduce feedback frequencies.
The FX display shows the selected effect preset. The SIG LED indicates an input signal to the effects processor, while the CLIP LED warns of signal clipping, requiring a reduction in the FX input signal.
Key Controls and Connections:
- LEVEL Controls: Adjust channel signal levels.
- FX Controls: Adjust signal level to the effects processor.
- FX RET Control: Adds effect signal to the main mix.
- SHAPE Button (K3000FX/K1800FX only): Applies a revolutionary filter to the main signal.
- PHONES Jack: For connecting headphones.
- PHONES LEVEL Control (K3000FX/K1800FX only): Adjusts headphone output level.
- POWER Switch: Turns the unit on or off.
- MAINS CONNECTION: Connects the unit to the power supply.
- FUSE HOLDER/VOLTAGE SELECTOR: Ensure correct mains voltage and replace fuses with the same type and rating.
- GROUND LIFT Switch (K3000FX/K1800FX only): Disconnects ground to eliminate hum from ground loops.
- LINE OUT (XLR and 1/4" TS): Balanced and unbalanced outputs for connecting to mixing consoles or other audio equipment.
- STEREO LINK: For true stereo operation by connecting two ULTRATONE amplifiers.
- SUB OUT: Mono subwoofer output for connecting to a subwoofer system.
- FOOT SW Jack: Connect a footswitch to activate/deactivate the effects processor.
- CD IN Connectors: For connecting CD players, tape decks, or MP3 players to play along with music.
- LINE Inputs (1-4 or 1-3): 1/4" TS connectors for audio sources. Use L (MONO) for mono signals.
- MIC Input (Channel 1): XLR input with +15 V phantom power for condenser microphones.
