1. Important Safety Instructions

Hearing Safety

Warning! To prevent hearing damage, limit the time you use the headphones at high volume and set the volume to a safe level. The higher the volume, the shorter your safe listening time. Always listen responsibly.

  • Be cautious and do not increase volume continuously, as your hearing may adapt.
  • Do not increase volume so much that you cannot hear your surroundings.
  • Be cautious or temporarily discontinue use in potentially hazardous situations.
  • Excessive sound pressure from headphones can cause hearing loss.
  • Do not use headphones while driving if they cover both ears, as it may be illegal in some areas.
  • For safety, avoid distractions from music or phone calls while driving or in other potentially hazardous environments.

General Information

Caution! To avoid damage or malfunction:

  • Do not overheat the headphones; keep them away from heat sources.
  • Do not drop your headphones.
  • Protect headphones from water drops and splashes (refer to the product's IP class). Do not immerse in water.
  • Do not charge the headphones if the connection or socket is wet.
  • Do not use cleaning agents containing alcohol, ammonia, benzene, or abrasive materials. Clean with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap if necessary.
  • The integrated battery must not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunlight, fire, etc.
  • Incorrect battery replacement may cause explosion. Replace only with the same or equivalent type.
  • For specific IP class, ensure the charging port cover is closed.
  • Battery may explode if thrown into fire or hot oven, or if mechanically crushed or cut.
  • Battery may explode or leak flammable liquid/gas if left in extremely high temperatures or exposed to extremely low air pressure.
  • Power supply must meet PS1 requirements (output power not exceeding 15W).

Operating and Storage Temperature

  • Store between -20°C to 50°C (relative humidity up to 90%).
  • Operate between 0°C to 45°C (relative humidity up to 90%).
  • High or low temperatures may shorten battery life.
  • Using the wrong battery type can severely damage the headphones and battery.

A mobile phone or device (e.g., laptop, tablet, MP3 player) that supports Bluetooth and is compatible with the headphones.

3. Getting Started

Charging the Battery

Note: Before first use, place headphones in the charging case and charge for 2 hours for optimal battery capacity and life. Use only the original USB-C cable. Headphones will turn off when charging. If unused for a long time, charge the battery at least once every three months to prevent loss of charge.

The charging case serves as a portable charger for the headphones. A fully charged case can charge the headphones 3 times.

Tip: Full charging typically takes 2 hours for both headphones and the case using the USB cable.

Wearing the Headphones

1. Check the left and right positions of the earbuds.

2. Insert the earbuds into your ears and twist them gently until they fit snugly.

Pairing Your True Wireless Headphones for the First Time

1. Ensure headphones are fully charged and turned off.

2. Open the charging case lid and remove the earbuds. The LEDs on both earbuds will flash white and blue alternately, indicating they are in pairing mode and ready to connect to a Bluetooth device (e.g., mobile phone).

3. Turn off the Bluetooth function on your Bluetooth device.

4. Pair the headphones with your Bluetooth device. Refer to your Bluetooth device's user manual.

Note: If the headphones do not find a previously connected Bluetooth device upon powering on, they will automatically enter pairing mode.

4. Using Your Headphones

Connecting to a Bluetooth Device

1. Turn on the Bluetooth function on your device and select "Philips TAT1138".

2. Enter "0000" if prompted for a passcode (4 zeros). Passcode entry is not required for devices with Bluetooth 3.0 or later.

Single Earbud (Mono Mode): To use in mono mode, remove either the right or left earbud from the charging case. The earbud will turn on automatically.

Note: Voice assistant is disabled in mono mode. Remove the second earbud from the charging case; they will automatically pair with each other.

Pairing with Another Bluetooth Device: To pair another Bluetooth device, press and hold the MFB on both earbuds for 5 seconds to enter pairing mode. Place them back in the charging case, then remove them again to make them discoverable.

Note: Headphones store up to 4 paired devices. If you try to pair more, the earliest paired device will be replaced.

Powering On/Off

  • To turn on: Remove earbuds from the charging case.
  • To turn off: Place earbuds back into the charging case.

Managing Your Calls and Music

Music Control

  • Play/Pause Music: Press the MFB once on either the left or right earbud.
  • Next Track: Double-press the MFB on the right earbud.
  • Previous Track: Double-press the MFB on the left earbud.
  • Adjust Volume: Use your mobile phone.

Call Control

  • Answer/End Call: Press the MFB once on either the left or right earbud.
  • Reject Call: Double-press the MFB on either the left or right earbud.

Voice Assistant

  • Activate Voice Assistant (Siri/Google): Press and hold the MFB on either the left or right earbud for 2 seconds.
  • Stop Voice Assistant: Press the MFB once on either the left or right earbud.

Headphone LED Indicator Status

  • Connected to Bluetooth device: White LED flashes for 2 seconds.
  • Ready for pairing: Blue and white LEDs flash alternately.
  • On, but not connected: White LED flashes every second (auto-off after 15 minutes).
  • Low battery (earbuds): White LED flashes twice every 5 seconds.

Charging Case LED Indicator Status

  • Charging: White LED flashes once every second.
  • Fully Charged: Solid white LED.

5. Resetting Your Headphones

If you experience pairing or connection issues, follow these steps to restore factory settings:

  1. On your Bluetooth device, go to the Bluetooth menu and remove "Philips TAT1138" from the device list.
  2. Turn on your Bluetooth device's Bluetooth function.
  3. Remove the earbuds from the charging case, press the MFB once, then press and hold for 5 seconds.
  4. Place the earbuds back into the charging case.
  5. Follow the instructions in the "Using Your Headphones - Connecting to a Bluetooth Device" section.
  6. Pair the headphones with your Bluetooth device by selecting "Philips TAT1138".

  • Before removing the battery, ensure the charging case is disconnected from the USB charging cable.

This product is designed and manufactured with high-quality materials and components that can be recycled and reused. The crossed-out wheelie bin symbol indicates compliance with European Directive 2012/19/EU. The battery symbol indicates compliance with European Directive 2013/56/EU, meaning the integrated rechargeable battery must not be disposed of with regular household waste. It is recommended to take the product to an official collection point or Philips service center for professional battery removal. Familiarize yourself with local separate collection systems for electrical and electronic products and rechargeable batteries. Follow local regulations and never dispose of the product or batteries with household waste.

9. Frequently Asked Questions

My "Bluetooth" headphones won't turn on.

The battery level is low. Charge the headphones.

I cannot pair my "Bluetooth" headphones with my "Bluetooth" device.

Bluetooth is turned off on your device. Turn on the Bluetooth function on your "Bluetooth" device and pair the headphones before turning them on.

Pairing is not working.

  • Place both earbuds in the charging case.
  • Ensure Bluetooth is turned off for any previously connected "Bluetooth" devices.
  • Delete "Philips TAT1138" from your "Bluetooth" device's list.
  • Pair the headphones (see "Pairing Your True Wireless Headphones for the First Time" on page 6).

My "Bluetooth" device cannot find my headphones.

  • The headphones may be connected to a previously paired device. Turn off the connected device or move it out of range.
  • Pairing may have been reset, or the headphones were previously paired with another device. Reconnect the headphones to your "Bluetooth" device as described in the user manual (see "Pairing Your True Wireless Headphones for the First Time" on page 6).

My "Bluetooth" headphones are connected to my "Bluetooth" smartphone, but music plays only through the smartphone's speaker.

Refer to your smartphone's user manual. Select the headphones for music playback.

Poor sound quality and crackling.

  • Your "Bluetooth" device is out of range. Reduce the distance between the headphones and the "Bluetooth" device, or remove obstructions.
  • Charge your headphones.

Poor sound quality when streaming from a mobile phone, very slow, or no sound at all.

Ensure your mobile phone supports (mono) HFP and A2DP, and is compatible with BT4.0x (or later) (see "Technical Specifications" on page 11).

The right and left earbuds are disconnected from each other.

  • Place both earbuds in the charging case, keeping the lid open.
  • Briefly press the case button 3 times.
