Preparation
Check Your Door Dimensions
Ensure your door meets the following specifications:
- Cross bore diameter: 54 mm (2.13 inches)
- Backset: 60/70 mm (2 3/8" / 2 3/4")
- Door thickness: 38 to 48 mm (1.5 - 1.89 inches)
- Edge bore diameter: 24 mm (0.94 inch)
Installation
Step 1: Install the Latch
Adjust the latch for a 60mm or 70mm backset by extending it if necessary. Insert the latch into the door edge, ensuring the tongue faces correctly based on your door's opening direction (inward or outward). Secure the latch with screws.
Step 2: Install the Strike Plate
Insert the strike pad into the door frame and screw the strike plate into place.
Step 3: Adjust the Handle Direction
Remove the screws from the front and back handles. For right-hand doors, turn the front handle to the right and the back handle to the left. For left-hand doors, turn the front handle to the left and the back handle to the right. Re-tighten the screws.
Step 4: Install the Exterior Assembly
Insert the spindle through the latch and door. Install the screw casings by turning them clockwise. Pass the cable under the latch and connect it to the exterior assembly.
Step 5: Install the Mounting Plate
Pass the spindle and cable through the mounting plate. Screw the mounting plate firmly to the door, ensuring proper alignment. Keep the exterior assembly straight during this process.
Step 6: Install the Interior Assembly
Connect the cable to the interior assembly and tuck any excess cable into the designated hole. Slide the interior assembly cover up and tighten the screws to secure it.
Step 7: Install the Batteries
Insert 4 new, non-rechargeable AA alkaline batteries into the interior assembly. Slide the battery cover back into place.
Test the Lock
- Keep the door open.
- Press the back handle to verify that the latch extends and retracts smoothly.
Using the App
1. Create an Account
Download the "Smart Life" app from Google Play (Android) or the App Store (iOS). Sign up and log in using an email address.
2. Pair Your Phone with the Smart Lock
Wake up the lock by pressing a key. If needed, reset the lock. Tap "Add Device" in the app, discover the lock, name it, and tap "Done".
3. Change the Admin Passcode
Once paired, the default passcode 123456 is invalid. Navigate to "Member Management" > "Admin" > "Add Code". Enter a 6-8 digit password and a code name. The first code set is the admin passcode.
4. APP Homepage Overview
The app homepage displays the lock status (locked/unlocked). You can check lock activities, set custom passcodes, manage members (passcodes and fingerprints), and receive notifications. Swipe gestures are used for locking and unlocking.
(1) Temporary Code
To manage custom codes, your phone must be within 5 meters of the lock (if not paired with a gateway). Passwords are invisible after setting. You can check, delete, change, or rename custom passcodes.
(2) Set Fingerprints (up to 50)
Go to "Member Management" > "Admin" > "Add Fingerprint" and follow the on-screen instructions. Ensure the fingerprint sensor and your finger are clean and dry for better recognition.
(3) Auto Lock & Remote Unlock
Configure "Auto Lock Delay" in "Settings" (5-60 seconds). "Remote Unlock" requires a gateway. By default, the lock automatically locks after 5 seconds.
(4) Add Member
The home owner navigates to "Me" > "Home Management" > "Your Home" > "Add Member" and shares an invitation code. The recipient joins the home using the code. Members can be assigned roles like "Common member" or "Administrator".
