In the Box

The package contains the following components:

  • Exterior Assembly: The outer part of the smart lock, featuring a keypad and keyhole.
  • Interior Assembly: The inner part of the lock, housing the battery compartment and internal mechanisms.
  • Strike Box: A metal box designed to fit into the door frame.
  • Deadbolt: The primary locking bolt that extends from the lock.
  • Strike Plate: A metal plate with a hole for the deadbolt, attached to the door frame.
  • Mounting Plate: A plate used to securely attach the interior assembly to the door.
  • Key & IC Card: Includes a physical key and an IC card for access.
  • Drilling Template: A paper guide for marking drilling points on the door.
  • Deadbolt / Strike Screws: Screws for installing the deadbolt and strike plate.
  • Mounting Plate Screws: Screws for securing the mounting plate.
  • Interior Assembly Screws: Screws for attaching the interior assembly.
  • User Manual: This booklet containing instructions.

Product Overview

Front View

The front of the smart lock features:

  • Fingerprint Sensor: Located at the top for biometric access.
  • Touchscreen Keypad: A numeric keypad (0-9, *, #) for entering passcodes.
  • IC Card Sensor: Positioned below the keypad for card access.
  • Keyhole: Located at the bottom for emergency key access.

A USB-C Port is located on the side, allowing connection of a power bank for temporary power supply if the batteries run out.

Rear View

The rear of the smart lock includes:

  • Battery Cover: Located at the top, slides open to access the battery compartment.
  • Knob: For manual operation of the lock.
  • Double Locking Button: A button for engaging double locking.
  • Reset Button: Located on the circuit board for resetting the lock.

Preparation

Check Your Door Dimensions

Before installation, ensure your door meets the following specifications:

  • Cross bore diameter: 54 mm (2.13 inches).
  • Backset: 60 mm or 70 mm (2.36 or 2.76 inches).
  • Door thickness: 38 mm to 48 mm (1.5 to 1.89 inches).
  • Edge bore diameter: 24 mm (0.94 inch).

Installation

Step 1: Install the Deadbolt

(1) If your door has a 60mm (2 3/8") backset, the deadbolt can be installed without adjustments.

(2) For doors with a 70mm (2 3/4") backset, rotate the deadbolt upwards to extend its length.

Insert the retracted deadbolt with the word “UP” and the up arrow facing upwards. Ensure the deadbolt is centered in the door edge. Secure the deadbolt with two deadbolt screws using a screwdriver (not provided).

Step 2: Install the Strike Plate

Install the strike plate and strike pad into the door frame. Ensure the deadbolt aligns correctly with the strike plate opening.

Parts Required: Strike Plate, Strike Pad, Strike Screws, Screwdriver.

Step 3: Install the Exterior Assembly

(1) Place the spindle vertically before inserting it through the door.

(2) Turn the spindle several times to test if the deadbolt extends or retracts smoothly.

(3) Keep the spindle vertical and pass the connecting cable under the deadbolt.

Note: Keep the deadbolt retracted (in unlocked status) and do not insert any keys during installation. Ensure the deadbolt is in the correct orientation (not extended) when attaching the exterior assembly.

Step 4: Install the Mounting Plate

(1) Pass the spindle through the central hole and the cable through the right bottom hole of the mounting plate. The side with the words “Cable Hole” should face outside.

(2) Screw the mounting plate firmly to the door, ensuring proper alignment. Keep the exterior assembly straight while installing the mounting plate.

Parts Required: Mounting plate, Mounting Plate Screws, Screwdriver.

Step 5: Install the Interior Assembly

(1) Plug the cable into the port on the interior assembly and tuck any excess cable into the designated hole. Ensure the connector is securely matched with the pins.

(2) Align the interior assembly with the mounting plate and tighten the screws to secure it.

Note: Only use new, non-rechargeable alkaline batteries. Insert 4 AA alkaline batteries into the compartment after sliding the cover up. Then, slide the cover back into place.

Test the Lock

1. Keep the door open.

2. Turn the knob several times to check whether the deadbolt extends and retracts smoothly.

Using the App

1. Create an Account

Android: Search for “Smart Life” on Google Play.

iOS: Search for “Smart Life” on the App Store.

Sign up and log into your account using an email address.

2. Pair Your Phone with the Smart Lock

Step 1: Touch the keypad to wake up the lock, then tap “Add Device” in the app.

Step 2: Select the lock once it is discovered.

Step 3: Name the lock and tap “Done”.

3. Determine the Door Opening Direction

Navigate in the app: Settings → Unlock Direction → Choose Left / Right. Observe your door hinge and select “Left” if the hinges are on the left side, or “Right” if they are on the right side.

4. Change the Admin Passcode

After pairing, the default admin passcode “123456” is invalid. To set a new passcode, go to Member Management → Admin → Add Code. Enter a 6-8 digit password and assign a code name.

5. APP Homepage Overview

The app's homepage provides control over:

  • Double Locking On/Off
  • Lock Status and Lock Activities (tap to view more details)
  • Manage and set guest passcodes

You can set passcodes and fingerprints for the admin and family members. The app also provides notifications when family members arrive or if the door lock triggers an alarm. You can check and change lock settings, including swiping to lock or unlock.

(1) Temporary Code

Different types of temporary codes are available:

  • Time-Limited: Must be used at least once within 24 hours of activation; otherwise, it becomes invalid.
  • One-Time: Valid for 6 hours and can be used only once.
  • Dynamic: Valid for 5 minutes and can be used multiple times within that period.
  • Clearing: Allows deletion of used time-limited codes within 24 hours. Once entered on the lock, these codes are deleted.
  • Custom: To set a custom code, your phone must be within 5 meters of the lock if not paired with a gateway.

Note: For security, temporary passwords are invisible once set. Remember the codes you create.

(2) Set Fingerprints (up to 100)

Navigate to Member Management → Admin → Add Fingerprint and follow the on-screen instructions. For best results:

  1. Ensure the fingerprint sensor and your finger are clean and dry.
  2. Place your finger on the sensor and move it around to capture different parts of your fingerprint.

(3) Add Card (up to 100)

Navigate to Member Management → Admin → Add Card and follow the on-screen instructions to add an access card.

(4) Auto Lock & Remote Unlock

  • Auto Lock Delay: In Settings, adjust the auto-lock interval from 5 seconds to 30 minutes as needed.
  • Remote Unlock: Access remote unlock settings via Settings → Remote Unlock.

(5) Add Member

Homeowner: Tap Me → Home Management → Your Home → Add Member. Then, tap “Copy/Messages” to send the invitation code to the recipient.

Recipient: Tap Me → Home Management → Join a Home and enter the invitation code.

Once added, the recipient can be assigned a role:

  • Common member: Can use the device and smart settings.
  • Administrator: Can manage the device, room, smart settings, and other members.

Basic Operations

Unlock the Door

  • Option 1: Wake the keypad, enter your passcode, and press the # key (e.g., 146585#).
  • Option 2: Use your fingerprint.
  • Option 3: Swipe the IC card.
  • Option 4: Use the mechanical key.
  • Option 5: Use voice commands with Alexa or Google Home (requires a gateway).
  • Option 6: Unlock via the App.
  • Option 7: Remotely unlock via the App (if the gateway is paired).

Lock the Door

  • Option 1: Press the # key.
  • Option 2: Use the mechanical key.
  • Option 3: Lock via the App.
  • Option 4: Enable auto-lock in the App; the door will lock automatically after the set time.
  • Option 5: Remotely lock via the App (if the gateway is paired).

How to Reset the Lock

Method A:

  1. Touch and light up the keypad. Remove one battery from the compartment, wait for 3 seconds, then put it back in. The keypad should light up.
  2. Press and hold the double locking button for 10-15 seconds until you hear the voice prompt “Initialization successful”. The reset is complete.

Method B:

  1. Remove the batteries from the battery compartment.
  2. Remove the 3 screws from the back panel.
  3. Insert the batteries into the battery compartment.
  4. Press and hold the reset button on the circuit board until you hear the voice prompt “Initialization successful”. The reset is complete.

Note: Ensure the cable is connected and batteries are properly installed.

Smart Home Integration

Note: For remote control, first follow the gateway's user manual to add the gateway to the App, then pair the gateway with the smart lock.

Enabling Amazon Alexa (Requires Gateway)

Step 1: Ensure the lock and gateway are paired. Then, enable “Remote Unlock” in the lock’s Settings.

Step 2: In the app, tap Me → Alexa, and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

Step 3: In the Alexa App, navigate to Locks, select your smart lock, tap the Settings icon, and enable “Unlock by App” and “Unlock by voice”.

Enabling Google Home (Requires Gateway)

Step 1: Pair the Gateway with the lock. Then, enable “Remote Voice Unlock” and set a 4-6 digit security code. This code will be requested by Google when unlocking your door via voice commands.

Step 2: In the app, tap Me → Google Assistant, and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

FAQs

  • How to lock or unlock the door? Refer to the “Basic Operations” section (Page 17).
  • How can I share access to the lock with my family and friends? Refer to the “Add Member” section (Page 16).
  • How to set/change the Admin passcode? Go to Member Management → Admin → Code. Ensure Bluetooth is on and your phone is within 5 meters of the lock.
  • How to enter the passcode on the keypad? Wake the keypad, enter your set passcode, and press the # key to confirm.
  • Can the lock sound be muted? Yes, stand near the lock, turn on your phone’s Bluetooth, open the App, tap Settings → Lock Volume → Mute.
  • How to prevent prying eyes? Add extra digits before or after your real passcode; the lock will still unlock.
  • How to double lock your door? Press and hold the double locking button for 5 seconds.
  • How to cancel double locking? Short press the double locking button, or unlock the door by turning the knob, using the admin App, admin passcode, or mechanical key.
  • How to pair the lock with the gateway? Refer to the Gateway’s manual or contact Customer Service for assistance.
