This toaster offers 7 preset programs, 7 browning levels, and functions for warming and defrosting frozen bread. Save your preferred settings for easy recall. Use the removable bun tray for warming buns, croissants, and cake. Crumbs collect in the removable crumb tray.
Read these instructions carefully to maximize the benefits of your new toaster.

Safety First!
General Safety Instructions:
- Read and keep all instructions. Use only as described (intended use). Misuse can cause severe injury or damage.
- Damaged cords must be replaced by the manufacturer or qualified personnel.
- Refer to "Care and Cleaning" for surface cleaning instructions.
- Intended for household and similar environments (staff kitchens, farm houses, hotels, B&Bs).
- Not for use in moving vehicles, wet areas, or outdoors. Use only manufacturer-recommended parts.
- Intended for roasting edible bakery products only. Do not heat other foods or foreign objects, especially those that drip, melt, or splash.
- Risk of Fire & Overheating: Bakery products can catch fire. Never leave unattended. Keep away from flammable liquids. Check regularly for damage. Unplug immediately if malfunctioning. Do not use parts for other devices. Ensure crumb tray is inserted. Operate on a stable, dry, heat-resistant surface. Maintain clearance: 20cm sides, 1m above. Do not place items under or on the appliance.
- Do not use alternative heat sources. Do not expose to direct sunlight.
- Do not poke in bread slits. Do not insert fingers or foreign objects. Do not use hard/sharp objects. Do not use force.
- Children aged 8+ and persons with reduced capabilities can use the appliance under supervision, understanding the risks. Children must not play with the appliance. Cleaning by children only if supervised and over 8. Keep appliance and cord away from children under 8.
- Do not leave appliance unattended if accessible to young children.
- Bread slices: max width 12.5cm, max thickness 2.5cm, min height 7.5cm. Do not toast broken or heavily curved slices. Do not toast multiple slices per slit.
- Always switch off, unplug, and cool down before cleaning or moving. Do not move by the power cord.
- Empty crumb tray regularly. Do not use abrasive cleaners or sharp objects.
Electrical Safety:
- Connect to a suitable, grounded 220-240V, 50-60Hz, 16A outlet. Use a separate outlet. Consider an RCD (FI-Schutzschalter) with max 30mA. Consult an electrician if unsure.
- Check foreign power supply compatibility. Do not use timers, remote controls, or extension cords. Ensure outlet is accessible for quick disconnection.
- Handle power cords carefully. Keep away from hot surfaces, sharp edges, moving parts. Do not let cords hang over edges. Do not pull by the cord. Do not knot, twist, or strain cords. Grasp the plug to disconnect. Do not touch plug/appliance with wet hands. Do not immerse appliance or cord in liquids or dishwashers.
- Do not spill liquids on the appliance or cord.
High Temperature - Risk of Burns:
- Heating elements reach red heat. Appliance can cause severe burns. Food too close to elements can catch fire.
- Do not place on heat-sensitive surfaces or surfaces that could melt/burn.
- Ensure start lever moves freely to activate auto shut-off. Do not block lever.
- Exterior, bun tray, and toasted food can be hot. Touch only operating elements/handles. Do not place hot bun tray on sensitive surfaces.
- Hot air/steam escapes. Keep body parts/delicate objects away. Remove food carefully.
- DO NOT heat alcoholic food (risk of explosion/fire).
- Do not toast food with meltable icings/fillings (chocolate, cream, etc.) as they can burn onto elements.
- Do not move or clean while hot. Wait for cooling.
Knowing Your Toaster
Components:
- 1. Stainless Steel Housing: Easy to clean.
- 2. "REHEAT" Button: For short warming of bread.
- 3. "DEFROST" Button: For toasting frozen bread.
- 4. "CANCEL" Button: To stop the current process.
- 5. Browning Buttons ("+" / "-"): To select browning level.
- 6. Start Lever: To start toasting.
- 7. LCD Display: Shows programs, browning level, and time.
- 8. "MEMORY" Button (Red): To save and recall preferred settings.
- 9. "BREAD TYPE" Button: To select the program.
- 10. Crumb Tray: Collects crumbs.
Note: The Design Toaster Digital 4S has two crumb trays.
Accessories:
- Removable stainless steel bun rack with heat-insulated handles: For warming buns, croissants, and cake.
Properties of Your New Toaster
This toaster heats almost all bread types to the desired browning, from soft to crispy.
- Design Toaster Digital 4S (4 slots): Controls and displays are doubled. Left side controls the left pair of slots, right side controls the right pair. Operate halves independently.
- 7 Programs: Preset heating times for various tasks. Select from 7 browning levels. Programs and settings shown on LCD. Remaining time counts down.
- Centering Mechanic: Holds thin slices centrally for even toasting on both sides.
- Frozen Bread: Toast directly from freezer using "DEFROST". Use "REHEAT" for warming previously toasted bread.
- Memory Function: Save up to 4 preferred settings. Settings are retained even when unplugged.
- Adjustable Settings: Change bread type, browning, DEFROST, REHEAT anytime during operation. Auto shut-off activates when time elapses. Lever returns to idle. Press "CANCEL" to stop early.
- Easy Removal: Start lever can be lifted slightly further to raise slices for easier removal.
- Bun Tray: For warming buns, croissants, cake.
- Crumb Tray: Pulls out from the rear for easy emptying and cleaning.
- Energy Saving Mode: Display turns off after 5 minutes of inactivity. Press any button to reactivate.
Important: Allow 1 minute cooling between heating cycles to prevent overheating and ensure longevity.

7 Preset Programs – The "BREAD TYPE" Button
These are guidelines; adjust to your preference and usage. Heating times are without DEFROST/REHEAT.
Note: For halved buns, bagels, and baguette, turn cut side inwards.

Short Heating
The "REHEAT" button sets a 30-second heating time, regardless of program or browning. Use for warming previously toasted bread or a quick warm-up.
Toasting Frozen Bakery Produce
Generally, toast frozen items directly from the freezer. The "DEFROST" function automatically extends heating time. If thawing first, use an airtight container/bag.
Important: Frozen bread can deform. Cancel heating if bread gets too dark or burns.
Browning Adjustment for Frozen Items:
- Browning 1-4: +25 seconds
- Browning 5-7: +30 seconds
Memory Function
Save up to 4 preferred settings (bread type, browning) using the "MEMORY" button. Recall them easily.
Note: DEFROST and REHEAT are not saved.
Important: Settings are saved even after unplugging.
Tips for Best Results
- Use stable bakery produce that won't fall apart when heated. Avoid fillings/toppings that melt or drip; use an oven instead.
- Toast frozen items immediately using "DEFROST".
- Ensure food is fit for consumption. Check for mould.
- Using the Bread Slits:
- Bread slices must fit: not shorter than 7.5cm, not wider than 12.5cm, not thicker than 2.5cm.
- Cut slices evenly with a sharp knife.
- Remove hard crusts if necessary.
- Knock off loose crumbs.
- For halved items, turn cut side inwards. Min height 7.5cm.
- Settings vary by bread type, thickness, humidity. Fresh bread toasts slower.
- Avoid over-toasting to minimize harmful substances.
- Toasting Via the Bun Tray:
- Use for whole buns, thick slices (>2.5cm), croissants, cake pieces.
- Use only the provided bun tray. Ensure it's stable.
- Suitable for plain cake (sponge, yeast cake, stollen without icing).
- Flat buns can be halved and toasted in slits.
- Place food on tray, then tray on toaster. Leave space between items.
- Remove tray with food onto a heat-resistant surface after toasting.
Before First Use
Warning: Keep appliance, parts, and packaging away from children and animals. Unplug and cool before cleaning. Do not immerse in water. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
- Unpack and check all parts. Remove packaging materials.
- First heating: Run appliance empty once to prepare heating elements. Wait for auto shut-off, then unplug and cool.
- Clean appliance and accessories before first use and after long storage.
Operation
Warning: Ensure appliance is out of reach of children/animals. Appliance gets very hot. Touch only operating elements. Toasted food is hot. Do not heat meltable/dripping/alcoholic food. Do not leave unattended. Unplug when not in use.
- Do not move appliance during operation.
- Toast only appropriate sized bread slices. Do not force food into slits. Ensure start lever moves freely.
- Warning: Bread can deform and catch fire. Supervise closely. Unplug immediately if burnt smell or smoke appears.
- Caution: Allow 1 minute cooling between cycles.
- Caution: Do not use bread slits while bun tray is in place.
Note: Adjust settings as needed. Settings can be changed during operation. Press "CANCEL" to stop early. Appliance switches off if power fails.
Preparing the Appliance for Operation
- Prepare suitable bakery produce.
- Place appliance near a suitable wall outlet on a stable surface.
- Insert bread slices into slits, or place bun tray lengthwise over slits (ensure it's stable). Place food on bun tray, leaving space.
- Insert power plug. Appliance enters standby mode. Display shows program menu and browning level (1-7). Arrow points to default "WHITE" program.
Important: Design Toaster Digital 4S has double controls for independent operation of slot pairs.
Manual Operation
Save preferred settings using memory function. For first use, operate manually to find optimal settings.
Note: "DEFROST" and "REHEAT" buttons act as On/Off switches. They illuminate blue when active.
- Toasting Frozen Bread: Press "DEFROST". Button illuminates blue, heating time increases.
- Warming Bread: Press "REHEAT" for 30 seconds, regardless of other settings.
- Select program using "BREAD TYPE" button.
- Adjust browning with "+" or "-" buttons.
- Press start lever down until engaged. Appliance heats. "CANCEL" button is red. Remaining time counts down.
Note: Settings can be changed during operation.
Caution: Do not terminate heating by moving start lever upwards. Use "CANCEL" button. Wait for countdown to reach "00:00".
Caution: Touch bun tray only by handles. Do not place hot tray on sensitive surfaces.
Using the Memory Function
Save preferred settings in 4 storage places. Unplug without losing settings.
Important: Switch to program mode first to save. Selecting memory only displays slots; pressing another button returns to manual mode.
Note: DEFROST and REHEAT settings are not saved.
Factory Settings
Default: Program "WHITE", browning 4 for all slots. To restore: Hold "DEFROST" and "REHEAT" while plugging in.
Saving Your Preferred Settings
Important: New settings overwrite old ones without warning.
- Prepare appliance for operation.
- Select storage place: Press "MEMORY". Slot numbers (1-4) appear. Highlighted number is selected. Press "MEMORY" repeatedly to choose. Program/browning for selected slot display.
- Enter program mode: Hold "MEMORY" (approx. 3 sec) until slot numbers flash.
Note: Enter settings while numbers flash (approx. 15 sec). Appliance returns to manual mode if other buttons are pressed. Re-enter program mode if needed.
- Select settings: While numbers flash, choose program ("BREAD TYPE") and browning ("+" / "-").
- Save settings: Hold "MEMORY" (approx. 2 sec) until numbers stop flashing. Settings are saved.
Using Your Own Programmed Settings
- Prepare appliance for operation.
- Press "MEMORY". Slot numbers (1-4) appear. Selected slot is highlighted. Program/browning display.
- Press "MEMORY" to select desired slot.
- Note: Pressing other buttons or "MEMORY" at slot 4 returns to manual mode.
- With slot selected, press start lever. Appliance operates with saved settings.
Removing a Bread Slice Sticking in a Bread Slit
Warning: Unplug and cool down completely before removing. Do not poke with objects.
Caution: Heating elements and mechanics are fragile.
- Ensure appliance is unplugged and cooled.
- Gently push start lever down. Try to move bread slice to loosen. Slowly lift lever to grasp and remove bread.
- Check slit and mechanic for residue. Empty crumb tray.

Care and Cleaning
Warning: Unplug and cool before cleaning. Keep away from children/animals. Do not immerse in liquids. Do not use abrasive cleaners or sharp objects.
- Switch off, unplug, and cool down. Pull out crumb tray(s), empty, and clean with a dry brush if needed. Push tray(s) back.
- Clean exterior and bun tray with a damp, soft cloth and mild dish soap. Wipe with clean water.
- Wipe dry. Allow parts to air dry for approx. 30 minutes.
Storage
Warning: Keep away from children/animals. Unplug when not in use. Do not pull by cord. Do not place heavy objects on appliance. Use parts only as described.
- Clean appliance before storing.
- Hold appliance with both hands at the exterior to move. Place on a clean, stable, level, dry surface, protected from excessive load.
- Place bun tray on appliance. Lay power cord beside it. Ensure cord does not hang down.
Notes for Disposal
Dispose of appliance and packaging according to local regulations for electrical waste. Contact your local disposal company. Do not dispose of in household waste; use separate collection facilities. Improper disposal can release hazardous substances.

GASTROBACK guarantees products are defect-free at purchase. Manufacturing/material defects are covered for 2 years (free repair/replacement). Warranty void if damage is due to improper handling, overload, or installation errors. Unauthorized technical interference voids warranty.
Present original sales slip for claims. Buyer bears transport costs/risk.
Restricted commercial use (offices, cafes, etc.) reduces warranty to 1 year.
