Tchibo Shelving Unit Assembly Instructions

This document provides comprehensive assembly instructions and safety information for your Tchibo shelving unit. Please read all instructions carefully before beginning assembly. Assembly requires two people.

Safety First

DANGER to Children

Keep packaging material out of the reach of children. Plastic bags and films are not toys. Ensure children do not pull them over their heads or swallow any parts, as this poses a risk of suffocation. The product contains small assembly parts that can be life-threatening if swallowed; keep children away during assembly. Keep infants away from the product, as they may attempt to pull themselves up on it or climb onto it.

CAUTION - Risk of Injury and Material Damage

Be careful during assembly to avoid pinching fingers when fitting metal parts or injuring yourself on sharp edges or corners. Wear work gloves. Always place the product on a level, non-sloping surface. Never stand or sit on the product, as it could tip over or be damaged. Do not place the product freely in a room or against a wall without securing it. For optimal stability, the unit must be fastened to a suitable wall. Mounting materials (screws and wall plugs) are provided for wall mounting and are suitable for standard, solid walls. Before wall mounting, consult with a professional to determine the correct mounting materials for your specific wall. Ensure there are no pipes or electrical wiring behind the wall at the drilling location. Assemble the product on a soft, flat surface, using the transport cardboard underneath to prevent scratching or damaging surfaces. Use the product only for its intended purpose and do not overload it. Do not open and load more than one folding door at a time, as this poses a risk of tipping over.

Intended Use

This product is suitable for indoor use only. Protect it from moisture. It is designed for private home use and is not suitable for commercial purposes.

Care and Maintenance

For cleaning, do not use abrasive or caustic cleaning agents or hard brushes. Clean surfaces with a slightly damp cloth and wipe dry.

Unpacking and Disposal

Carefully remove all packaging material and dispose of it properly according to local waste separation guidelines. Ensure that assembly materials are not accidentally discarded.

Assembly Instructions

Step 1-2: Assemble Main Frame

Connect the long vertical bars (1) with the horizontal bars (3, 4, 5) to form the basic structure of the shelving unit.

Step 3: Align Holes and Insert Screws

Align the holes on the frame components and insert screws (S2) to secure them.

Step 4: Secure Rods

Hand-tighten rods (5) into the frame. If holes are not perfectly aligned, slightly loosen the rods. They will stabilize further during subsequent steps.

Step 5: Connect Frame Sections

Join the assembled frame sections using screws (G).

Step 6: Insert Shelves

Slide the shelves (3) into place and secure them using the provided clips.

Step 7: Attach Base/Feet

Attach the base or feet to the unit using screws (S5).

Step 8: Stand Unit Upright

With the help of another person, carefully stand the assembled unit upright.

Step 9: Tipping Hazard Warning

The unit poses a tipping hazard as long as it is not attached to the wall. It is essential to perform assembly steps with two people and hold the unit firmly at all times.

Step 10-11: Attach Hinges to Shelves

Attach the hinge mechanisms (7a, 7b) to the shelves (7) using screws (S6).

Step 12-13: Prepare Hinge Mechanism

Flip the hinge mechanism (part 6) to its other side.

Step 14: Attach Shelves to Unit

Attach the shelves with the prepared hinge mechanisms to the main shelving unit.

Step 15: Attach Back Panel

Secure the back panel (2) using components E1 and E2.

Step 16: Attach Hinges to Frame

Attach the hinges (part 2) to the unit frame. Be careful when pulling out the hinge to avoid pinching your fingers.

Step 17-19: Final Assembly

Complete the assembly by following the final steps, which may involve attaching the clothes rail or ensuring all connections are secure.

Configuration Options

The shelving unit can be configured in two main ways, depending on whether the clothes rail is positioned on the left (Variant A) or on the right (Variant B). This manual primarily illustrates the assembly for Variant A.
