1.2 Robot Components
Front (top cover closed): Features radar sensors, a recall button, a start/stop button, a laser edge sensor, a microphone, and binocular vision obstacle avoidance sensors.
Front (top cover open): Reveals the dust bin, replaceable insert bin, and dust bin filter. Also shows the RESET button and top cover slot.
Robot bottom: Includes infrared anti-drop sensors (x3), an ultrasonic carpet sensor, the robot nameplate (with SN), a cyclone tangle-free roller brush, a slot for the baseboard cleaning module, mopping modules (x2), mop pads (x2), drive wheels (x2), and a caster.
1.3 Base Station Components
Front (lid closed): Features the Freo Mind on/off button, recall/exit button, base station indicator, extension ramp, and a touch panel.
Front (lid open): Shows the robot entrance, cleaning tray, cleaning base, clean water tank, clean water tank sponge filter, dirty water tank, base station handle, and electrolyzed water disinfection module.
Back: Contains the power interface.

2. Get Ready Before Use
Install the Side Brushes
Press side brushes into the slots as indicated by color until they click into place.
Remove the Anti-Collision Foam
- Lift the top cover sticker to open the robot top cover and remove the anti-collision foam.
- Close the robot's top cover.
Install the Baseboard Cleaning Module
Turn the robot upside down, align the baseboard cleaning module with the slot, and press it until it clicks into place.
How to Maintain the Baseboard Cleaning Module
- Tear off the baseboard rag in the indicated direction, align the new baseboard rag with the hook-and-loop fastener, and press it until it is firmly fixed.
- Tear off the baseboard rag, rinse it with clean water, and reuse it after air drying.
Place the Base Station
- Plug in the power cord in the back of the base station.
- Put the extension ramp on the floor and push it into the bottom of the base station until it clicks into place.
- Leave an open space of at least 1 meter long in front of the base station for the robot to enter and leave.
Tip: DO NOT place the base station close to a heat source.
Install the Floor Detergent
- Remove the base station front cover.
- Face the cap of the floor detergent towards the base station (DO NOT remove the cap; ensure the sealing sticker is removed) and horizontally push it into the detergent bin.
- Once the detergent is in place, put the base station front cover back.
Add Clean Water
- Open the clean water tank and fill it with clean water (DO NOT exceed the MAX water level mark).
- Close the clean water tank cap and put the clean water tank back into the base station.
Boot Settings
Push the robot into the base station with the camera facing outward. The base station will beep once, indicating successful charging, and the robot will power on and broadcast a message.
Connect and Bind the Robot in the App
Download the Narwal App and follow the instructions for connecting and binding the robot.
Note: In the App device page, tap "Settings" > "Device" and then press and hold the "Restart Robot" for 10s to turn on/off the power-saving mode.
Replace the Base Station Dust Bag
- Remove the base station front cover.
- Pull the purple ring in the direction of the arrow to remove and discard the dust bag.
- Insert the new dust bag into the slot in the indicated direction until it hits the bottom.
- Put back the base station front cover.
3. How to Use
Before using the robot, ensure installation and base station setup are complete (Chapter 2).
3.1 Organize the Home Environment
- A. Declutter: Remove clutter from the floor, such as scattered cables, rags, slippers, clothes, and books.
- B. Furniture Arrangement: Open doors to rooms to be cleaned and arrange furniture to maximize cleaning space.
- C. Area Restriction: Keep other doors closed and install a fence to prevent the robot from entering elevated or low areas.
- D. Obstacle Clearance: The maximum obstacle crossing height is 20mm. The robot cannot enter rooms with a threshold height over 20mm. Consider purchasing a Narwal Threshold Ramp if needed.
- E. Avoid Obstruction: Do not stand in front of the robot, on thresholds, or in narrow aisles while it is operating.
3.2 Mapping
For new homes, the robot needs to explore and create a map. Initiate mapping by short pressing the Start/Stop button on the base station or tapping "Start Mapping" in the App before the first cleaning.
Note:
- Maps can be edited in the App after creation.
- Do not move the base station after mapping; otherwise, re-mapping is required. Rearranging large furniture may also necessitate creating a new map.
3.3 Cleaning
Ensure the robot has sufficient battery before cleaning (viewable in the App).
Select Cleaning Modes
Choose from four built-in modes: Vacuum, Mop, Vacuum and Mop, and Vacuum then Mop. Adjust cleaning cycles, suction, and mop humidity for each mode in the App.
Set Freo Mind
Freo Mind is an intelligent cleaning assistant that can:
- Set cleaning parameters based on sensor data.
- Enhance edge-to-edge cleaning.
Enable Freo Mind via the App or by short pressing the Freo Mind On/Off button on the base station (indicator light will turn on).
Start Cleaning Task
Initiate cleaning in three ways:
- Tap "Start Cleaning" in the App.
- Short press the Start/Stop button on the robot (defaults to Vacuum Mode).
- Short press the Start/Stop button on the base station (defaults to Vacuum and Mop Mode).
Note: Cleaning mode and parameters can be adjusted in the App.
Pause/Resume Current Task
Pause or resume the current task in three ways:
- Tap the Pause/Resume button in the App.
- Short press the Start/Stop button on the robot.
- Short press the Start/Stop button on the base station.
Mop Washing
The robot will automatically return to the base station for mop washing if multiple mopping runs are set or the cleaning area is large. The number of runs and returns can be adjusted in the App before cleaning starts.
End Current Task
The robot will return to the base station upon task completion. View the cleaning report in the App. Manually end the task:
- Press and hold the Finish button for 2s in the App.
- Short press the Home ? button on the robot.
- Short press the Recall ↩️ button or long press the Start/Stop button on the base station for 2s.
Drying and Disinfection
After the final mopping run, the robot returns for mop washing and drying. Drying time is adjustable in the App. Manual start for washing and drying:
- Tap the Mop Washing & Drying button in the App.
- Short press the Mop Washing & Drying button on the base station.
