Installation Steps
Step 1: Mark Door Location
Mark out the desired location for the lock/latch, including the spindle hole. It is recommended to mark the hole on both sides of the door.
Step 2: Drill Main Bore Hole
Drill out the centre bore hole using a 25mm drill bit.
Step 3: Mark Plate Outline
Insert the lock/latch and mark the plate outline. For best results, use a sharp blade to carefully score the outline.
Step 4: Chisel Recess
Remove the lock/latch and chisel out a 3mm recess for the plate.
Step 5: Drill Spindle Hole
Drill a 12mm hole for the spindle in the marked position. Drill from both sides of the door to ensure the hole is not angled and to reduce chances of the door splintering.
Step 6: Test Fit Mechanism
Insert the lock/latch to check that everything fits and all the holes line up correctly.
Step 7: Check Orientation
Latches only: Ensure the tongue is facing the correct way, with the curved edge facing the door frame.
Locks only: Ensure the Corston logo on the body is oriented correctly (right way up) for conventional turning.
Step 8: Mark Pilot Holes (Outer Screws)
Mark and drill 2mm pilot holes for the outer screws.
Step 9: Mark Pilot Holes (Inner Screws)
Mark and drill 5mm holes, approximately 4mm deep, for each of the inner screws.
Step 10: Fix Mechanism
Use the crosshead wood screws to fix the lock/latch mechanism into the door.
Step 11: Attach Front Plate
Use the flathead facing screws to attach the front plate to the mechanism.
Step 12: Mark Strike Plate Position
Mark out the position of the strike plate on the door frame.
Step 13: Drill Strike Plate Hole
Drill out the majority of the strike plate hole. The hole should accommodate dimensions of approximately 16mm x 22mm.
Step 14: Square Strike Plate Hole
Chisel out the remainder of the hole and make it square.
Step 15: Chisel Strike Plate Recess
Chisel out the strike plate recess.
Step 16: Mark Strike Plate Screw Holes
Mark and drill the pilot holes for the strike plate screws.
Step 17: Fix Strike Plate
