This manual provides instructions for operating the Casio PQ-14 digital watch, covering its various functions including timekeeping, alarm, stopwatch, and countdown timer.
Watch Overview and Basic Operations
The watch features a digital display showing time, date, and indicators for various modes. The main buttons for operation are:
- CLOCK
- ALARM
- TIMER/ST.W
- SNOOZE/LIGHT
- START/STOP
- CLEAR
- HOUR
- MIN
- SEC
- 12/24
The watch has three main modes: Current Time, Alarm, and Timer/Stopwatch. You can switch between these modes by pressing the ALARM, CLOCK, or TIMER/ST.W buttons sequentially.
The SNOOZE/LIGHT button activates the backlight for approximately 4 seconds in most modes.
Current Time Mode
This is the default mode when the watch is turned on.
Setting the Current Time
- In the Current Time mode, press and hold the CLOCK button until the digits on the display start flashing.
- Use the HOUR, MIN, and SEC buttons to adjust the hour, minute, and second values. Holding down a button will increase the value at a faster rate.
- Press the CLOCK button to confirm the settings and return to the current time display. If no button is pressed for one minute, the watch will automatically return to the current time mode.
Switching Time Format (12/24 Hour)
Use the 12/24 button to toggle between the 12-hour (AM/PM) and 24-hour time formats.
Sound Signal (Alarm) Usage
The watch is equipped with a daily alarm and a SNOOZE function.
Setting the Alarm Time
- In the Alarm mode, press and hold the ALARM button until the hour digits start flashing.
- Use the HOUR and MIN buttons to set the desired alarm hour and minute. Holding down a button will increase the value at a faster rate.
- Press the ALARM button to confirm the alarm time settings. If no button is pressed for one minute, the watch will automatically return to the current time mode.
- Move the SNZ ON OFF slider to either ON (for standard alarm) or SNZ (for snooze alarm).
Standard Alarm Mode
If the ALARM slider is set to ON, the alarm will sound daily at the set time for 1 minute. Press the SNOOZE/LIGHT button to silence the alarm.
Snooze Alarm Mode
If the ALARM slider is set to SNZ, the alarm will sound daily at the set time for 1 minute. Press the SNOOZE/LIGHT button to silence it temporarily. The alarm will repeat every 5 minutes, up to 3 times. To disable repeated alarms, move the ALARM slider to OFF.
To view the set alarm time, press the HOUR or MIN button while in the Current Time mode.
To test the alarm sound, press the HOUR and MIN buttons simultaneously.
Countdown Timer / Stopwatch Mode
These modes operate similarly. For the countdown timer, set a starting value. For the stopwatch, reset the counter to 0.
Setting the Countdown Timer Value
- In the Countdown Timer mode, press CLEAR to reset the counter to 0.
- Use the HOUR, MIN, and SEC buttons to set the desired countdown duration. Holding down a button will increase the value at a faster rate.
- Press the START/STOP button to start the timer. Press it again to pause the timer.
When the countdown reaches 0, an alarm will sound, and the digits on the display will flash. The initial countdown value will be shown. The alarm will silence after 1 minute. Press the START/STOP button to silence the alarm.
The timer can be restarted by pressing START/STOP or reset to 0 by pressing CLEAR.
If the CLOCK button is pressed while in Timer/Stopwatch mode, the watch will switch to the Current Time mode, but the timer/stopwatch will continue to run in the background.
