This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the installation and operation of the Jensen CAR7TC Media Receiver, featuring a 7" digital TFT Display with Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay® compatibility.
Safety Notes
WARNING: This is a safety feature to prevent driver distraction. In-dash video functions will only operate when the vehicle is in Park and the parking brake is engaged. It is illegal in most jurisdictions for the driver to view video while the vehicle is in motion.
The SAFETY NOTICE is a reminder to drive responsibly and safely while using your mobile phone device, or any apps that are compatible with this unit.
It is highly recommended that your Jensen unit is installed by a professional installer or an authorized dealer.
This product is only for use in vehicles with 12VDC negative ground only.
To prevent damage or injury:
- Make sure to ground the unit securely to the vehicle chassis ground.
- Do not remove the top or bottom covers of the unit.
- Do not install the unit in a spot exposed to direct sunlight, excessive heat or the possibility of water splashing.
- Do not subject the unit to excessive shock.
- When replacing a fuse, only use a new one with the correct rating. Using a fuse with the wrong rating may cause the unit to malfunction.
- To prevent short circuits when replacing a fuse, disconnect the wiring harness first.
- Use only the provided hardware and wire harness.
- If you experience problems during installation, consult your nearest Jensen dealer.
- If the unit malfunctions, reset the unit as described. If the problem still persists, consult your nearest Jensen dealer or call technical assistance @ 1-888-921-4088.
- To clean the monitor, wipe only with a dry silicone cloth or other soft cloth. Do not use a stiff cloth or solvents such as paint thinner and alcohol, as these can scratch the surface of the panel and/or remove the printing.
- When the temperature of the unit falls (as in winter), the liquid crystal inside the screen will become darker than usual. Normal brightness will return after the unit is in use for a while.
- When extending the ignition, battery or ground wiring, make sure to use automotive-grade wiring with an a minimum AWG 16 or more to prevent voltage drops.
- Do not touch the liquid crystal fluid if the LCD is damaged or broken. The liquid crystal fluid may be hazardous to your health or fatal. If the liquid crystal fluid from the LCD contacts your body or clothing, wash it off with soap immediately.

The unit utilizes a 15 AMP ATC mini style fuse located on the power connector. When replacing a fuse, ensure you use the correct type and amperage to prevent damage.

Installation
Before You Start:
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal. Consult a qualified technician for instructions.
- Avoid installing the unit where it would be subject to high temperatures, such as from direct sunlight, or where it would be subject to dust, dirt or excessive vibration.
INSTALLATION GUIDE
The installation involves mounting the unit and connecting the wiring harness. Specific hardware, including M5*6mm flat head screws and M5*6mm round head screws, is provided.
How to attach and remove the Trim ring
1. Remove the volume control knob.
2. Detach or attach the trim ring.
3. Re-insert the volume control knob.
Control Locations
The radio display features the following functions and displays:
- Control Knob: Short press to mute/Long press to power off. Rotate to increase or decrease volume.
- Reset: Resets the unit.
- Previous/search back: Navigates to the previous track or searches backward.
- Next/search forward: Navigates to the next track or searches forward.
- CPAA voice button: Activates the voice assistant (e.g., Siri or Google Assistant).
- Source/Home: Selects the audio source or returns to the home screen.
General Operation
Power On/Off: Momentarily press the control knob to turn the unit on. Press and hold to turn the unit off.
Volume: Rotate the volume knob to adjust the volume level.
Mute: Momentarily press MUTE to silence the audio. Press MUTE again to return to the previously selected volume. Rotating the volume knob while muted will also cancel the mute function.
Mode: Press SOURCE to cycle through modes: Radio/BT Phone/BT Audio/Apple CarPlay/Android Auto/USB/Camera/EQ/AV/Settings. Modes can also be accessed via the main menu icons.
Main Menu: Press the icon at the bottom left of the screen to display the OSD main menu. Select the desired source from the icons (Radio, BT Phone, BT Audio, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, USB, Camera, EQ, AV, Settings).
The main menu screen displays icons for various functions including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, BT Audio, Radio, USB, BT Phone, AV In, Cameras, EQ, and Settings.
A/V In: Connect external devices to the rear RCA Type A/V Input.
USB: Connect a USB flash drive to the rear USB Input.
Reset: To resolve abnormal operation, press the RESET button on the front panel. This will reset the main processor to the default settings. Use the tip of a pen to access the reset button.
General Operation (Settings Menu)
From the Main Menu screen, select Setup to access the Settings menu. The settings are categorized into eight sections: General, Audio, Display, Wifi, Bluetooth, Camera, Region, and Version.
General Settings:
- Language: Select between English and Spanish.
- Time Zone: Select the desired time zone.
- Date & Time: Adjust the day, month, year, hour, minute, and format.
- Daylight Savings Time: Turn On or Off.
- Beep Tone: Turn On or Off.
- Power Off Delay: Select 1 second, 2 seconds, 3 seconds, or Off.
- Factory Default: Resets the unit to factory default settings.
- Right Hand Drive: Turn On or Off. 'Off' is for left-hand drive mode, 'On' is for right-hand drive mode. Default is 'Off'.
Audio Settings:
- Balance/Fader: Adjust balance and fader settings.
- Subwoofer: Turn the Subwoofer Control On/Off.
- Subwoofer Frequency: Select the subwoofer frequency.
- Subwoofer Level: Adjust the subwoofer level from 0-14 (default is 7).
- EQ: Adjust equalizer settings.
- Loudness: Turn the Loudness feature On or Off.
- Default Volume: Adjust default volume settings.
- Source Level: Adjust source level settings.
Display Settings:
- Illumination Control: Turn Illumination Control On or Off.
- Gray Level & Brightness: Adjust gray level and brightness settings for Day and Night.
- LED: Select a color for the LED button lights.
- LED Animation: Turn LED Animation On or Off.
- Wallpaper: Select from six wallpaper options.
Other Settings:
- WiFi: Turn WiFi On/Off, Reset Password, or view Device List.
- Bluetooth: Turn Bluetooth On/Off, configure Auto Connect and Auto Answer, view Device Name, and clear Phone Book Names and Numbers.
- Camera: Turn Front and Rear Camera On/Off, reverse Camera Views, enable/disable Parking Assistance, adjust Parking Assistance settings, and adjust Rear View Delay.
- Radio: Adjust the Region, and turn TA (Traffic Announcement) and AF (Alternative Frequencies) On/Off.
- Version: View version information.
- Factory Default: Reset Bluetooth Settings or Reboot System.
Screen Operation
Press the Display icon in the Settings menu to access Brightness, Contrast, Button Illumination Colors, and Wallpaper Settings.
This interface allows control over the gray level and brightness of the screen during day and night.
- Gray Level Day: Adjusts the gray level of the screen during the day (20 levels, 1-20).
- Gray Level Night: Adjusts the gray level of the screen at night (20 levels, 1-20).
- Day Brightness: Adjusts the screen brightness during the day (10 levels, 1-10).
- Night Brightness: Adjusts the screen brightness at night (10 levels, 1-10).
You can also control the color of the button lights:
- Button Light Animation: When enabled, the color cycles through 6 available colors.
- Button Color: Select a manual color from 6 options (red, yellow, green, blue, purple, white) when animation is off.
Audio Operation
Press the AUDIO icon on the main menu to enter the audio settings menu.
The audio settings include Balance/Fader, Subwoofer controls (On/Off, Frequency, Level), and EQ settings.
The EQ screen provides a graphic equalizer with adjustable frequency bands.
AM/FM Tuner Operation
From the main menu, touch the Radio Icon to select AM/FM tuner mode.
- Main Menu: Press to return to the Main Menu screen.
- Dimmer: Adjust screen brightness.
- Local / Distance: Toggle between local or distance tuning.
- Seek Tune Up: Automatically tune to a higher frequency.
- Seek Tune Down: Automatically tune to a lower frequency.
- Preset Stations: Store and recall stations. Press and hold a preset number to store, press to recall. The unit can switch between AS (Auto Store) and PS (Preset Scan) by holding the button.
- EQ Info: Access and adjust audio settings.
- Settings: Access and adjust audio settings.
USB Operation
From the main menu, touch the USB icon on the main screen.
- Main Menu: Press to return to the Main Menu screen.
- Current Mode Indicator: Displays the currently playing source.
- Repeat: Repeat current track or all tracks in the current folder. Press again to exit repeat mode.
- Random: Shuffle all tracks in the current folder. Press again to exit random mode.
- List: Enter the track list.
- ID3 Tag Display Area: View ID3 information of the current song.
- Track Down: Return to the beginning of the current track.
- Play/Pause: Pause or resume playback.
- Track Up: Skip to the next song.
- Album Art: View the album art information of the current song.
Media Compatibility
Media Compatibility:
- The following file types are NOT compatible: MP3 PRO format, MP3 playlists, RMP format, AAC, protected AAC, M4A format.
Playback Order: MP3 playback starts in the root folder of the USB device. Empty folders or folders without MP3 files are skipped.
Compatible Recording Formats (ISO9660 standards):
- Maximum nested folder depth is 8 (including the root folder).
- Valid characters for folder/file names are letters A-Z (all caps), numbers 0-9, and “_” (underscore). Some characters may not display correctly.
- Supports Joliet and other ISO9660 conforming standards. MP3 files not conforming to these standards may not play correctly or have display issues.
Notes: Some files may not play or display correctly depending on sampling rates and bit rates.
For best results when ripping MP3 files, use 128kbps or higher constant bit rate and 44.1 kHz or higher sampling frequency.
Bluetooth Operation
Before using Bluetooth, a device must be authenticated, referred to as "pairing".
Pairing a New Device: The unit broadcasts a pairing signal when no devices are connected. Complete the pairing sequence from your Bluetooth device. The device name is "CAR7TC".
Connect: The head unit automatically connects to the last connected device if Auto Connect is 'On'. If 'Off', manual connection is required.
From the main menu, touch Bluetooth. The Bluetooth icon appears when a device is connected.
- Main Menu: Return to the Main Menu screen.
- Keypad: Display the keypad for dialing.
- Contacts: Display the contact list.
- History: Display the recent call list.
- Device: Display the list of paired devices.
- Call: Connect a call.
- Phone Keypad: Use to enter a phone number.
Bluetooth Operation (Call Screen):
- End Call: End a call or reject an incoming call.
- Microphone: Turn the microphone voice On or Off.
- Phone Keypad: Enter a phone number.
- Audio Transfer: Transfer audio between the unit and mobile phone.
- Track Down: Return to the beginning of the current track.
- Play/Pause: Pause or resume playback.
- Track Up: Skip to the next song.
- Bluetooth Phone: Switch to Bluetooth phone.
Driving Orientation Settings
The CAR7TC allows users to configure Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for Left Hand Drive (LHD) or Right Hand Drive (RHD) vehicles.
Select LHD or RHD from the Settings menu.
Note: If changing the drive mode while the phone is connected, disconnect and reconnect the phone.
The resulting configuration options are shown below, demonstrating the difference in layout for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in LHD vs. RHD vehicles.

Apple CarPlay® Operation
Apple CarPlay is an interface for iPhone that allows voice control (via Siri) of music, navigation, phone, and messaging apps, reducing driver distraction.
- Phone: Use Siri to make calls, return missed calls, listen to voicemail, and view caller ID.
- Messages: Use Siri to send, read, and reply to text messages hands-free.
- Music: Access music by artist, song, playlist, and more. The receiver mirrors the iPhone screen with artist and track information.
- Maps: Use Siri for turn-by-turn directions, searching by address or points of interest. Apple Maps are mirrored on the screen with traffic information and estimated time to destination.
Made for iPhone models: iPhone 6S, iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Starting Apple CarPlay
Wireless CarPlay Connection Description:
- Enter the main UI and click BT Phone to enter the Bluetooth interface.
- Click Refresh to search nearby Bluetooth, then Pair to match Bluetooth.
- Open the iPhone WLAN to connect to the car. The Apple CarPlay icon will appear in the device list upon successful connection.
- Enter the Apple CarPlay interface and click functions like Phone/Music/Map/Information.
Note: Apple CarPlay features are limited while driving and vary by app. Visit www.apple.com/ios/carplay for more information.
Note: Certain iPhone functions may be illegal while driving. Be sure to familiarize yourself with local laws regarding mobile devices. Stop and park your vehicle before using any devices if in doubt.
Controlling Apple CarPlay
The home button in the lower left corner functions like the iPhone's home button. Press and hold to summon Siri. Momentarily press to return to the main Apple CarPlay menu.
Basic controls include Touch (brief press), Swipe (brief swipe), and Drag (press, hold, and drag).
Exiting Apple CarPlay
Disconnecting your iPhone automatically exits Apple CarPlay mode. To exit while connected, press the Power/Volume knob momentarily to return to the unit's main menu.
Android Auto™ Operation
Android Auto brings useful apps to your phone screen or car display for navigation, maps, calls, text messages, and music, making driving easier.
Google Assistant: Use voice commands like "Ok Google" or long-press the voice control button on the steering wheel for hands-free operation.
Navigation: Get real-time traffic alerts, hazard warnings, speed trap information, and route guidance.
Calls & Messages: Use your Assistant to call contacts, chat with apps, read messages aloud, and text back.
Compatible Devices: Requires the Android Auto app from Google Play installed on an Android smartphone running Android Lollipop 5.0 or higher.
Warning: Be aware of and obey any restrictions on smartphone use while driving. Perform functions only when the car is parked if unsure.
Starting Android Auto
Wireless Android Auto Connection Description:
- Enter the main UI and click BT Phone to enter the Bluetooth interface.
- Click Refresh to search nearby Bluetooth. Ensure your Phone's WLAN is on before connecting to Bluetooth.
- Click Pair to match Bluetooth. Select settings and your mobile Phone when prompted. The Android Auto connection is successful.
- Enter the Android Auto interface and click functions like Phone/Music/Map/Information.
Note: When connected to the unit, the device is also connected via Bluetooth. If five devices are paired, you may be prompted to delete a device. Agree to delete or manually delete via [BT Settings].
Note: If Android Auto is turned on during a call on another cellular phone, the Bluetooth connection will switch to the Android Auto compatible device after the call.
Using Android Auto
The Android Auto home screen displays personalized information like time to destination, reminders, recent calls, incoming messages, music, and Google Now cards.
Say "OK Google" or select the microphone icon to talk to Google.
The numbered icons on the home screen represent: 1. Recent Apps, 2. Google Assistant, 3. Google Maps, 4. YouTube, 5. Phone, 6. Settings.
Exiting Android Auto
To exit Android Auto, press the Exit button. Disconnecting your Android phone will automatically exit Android Auto mode.
Rear RCA Input
Connect an optional audio/video source into the RCA (rear) input. Adjust volume on the external audio source as needed.
Front and Rear Camera Operation - (Optional)
Using the Cameras:
Connect an optional camera to the front or rear Camera Input. Refer to the wiring diagram.
Auto Selection: The unit automatically selects camera mode when connected to the reverse lamp circuitry.
Touch the CAMERA icon on the Main Menu (when enabled) to select camera mode. Touch the top left area of the screen to return to the Main Menu.
Note: Manual mode is for dedicated cameras connected to the 12VDC+ ignition wire and always on while driving. It is not meant for cameras connected to the vehicle's reverse light.
The display shows examples of rear and front camera views.
Adjusting Front and Rear Camera Screen Image
If your front or rear cameras display a reversed image, go to the Camera section in the Settings menu. Toggle "Rear Camera View Reverse" or "Front Camera View Reverse" to correct the viewing angle.
The settings menu includes options for Rear Camera, Front Camera, Rear Camera View Reverse, Front Camera View Reverse, Parking Assist Guide, and Parking Assist Guide Adjust.
SWC Input Operation
The built-in SWC Interface is compatible with PAC steering wheel control modules. The PAC SWI-RC is recommended. A third-party adapter may be needed for compatibility with steering wheel controls.
Available controls include: Preset Up/Down, Mode, Seek/Track Up (+), Seek/Track Down (-), Volume Up (+), Volume Down (-), Mute, Band, BT Talk, and BT End.
Note: Not all OE steering wheel functions may be supported.
PAC SWI-RC Installation Hints:
- Set "Radio Select Switch" to position 7 - "Pioneer/Other/Sony".
- Use the Pioneer/Sony/Other radio function mapping order for Jensen units.
- If a function is not supported or desired, skip it as per PAC SWI-RC instructions.
- Program the SWC function in the correct order per the PAC SWI-RC radio function mapping order instructions.

Troubleshooting

Firmware Upgrades
Firmware or software updates may be available on the Jensen website. Visit www.jensenmobile.com to check for new updates.
Updates can be completed using a user-supplied USB drive (8GB or 16GB) from recommended manufacturers like SanDisk, Kingston, PNY, Samsung, Corsair, or Verbatim. The drive must support USB 2.0 or faster transfer speeds. Format the drive using the FAT32 file system.

Who is covered? This warranty extends to the original retail purchaser for products bought from an authorized JENSEN dealer and used in the U.S.A.
What is covered? This warranty covers defects in material and workmanship. It does not cover software, installation/removal costs, damage from accident, misuse, abuse, neglect, product modification, improper installation, incorrect line voltage, unauthorized repair, failure to follow instructions, or damage during return shipment. What to do?
- Before calling for service, consult the troubleshooting guide. A slight adjustment of custom controls may save a service call.
- If service is required during the warranty period, pack the product securely (preferably in original packaging) and ship it by prepaid transportation with a copy of the original receipt from the retailer to an authorized service center.
- Describe the problem in writing, including your name, return UPS shipping address (P.O. Box not acceptable), and a daytime phone number.
