Before You Start
Please take note of the following before using the unit:
- Do not block ventilation openings or holes.
- Avoid installing the unit in locations exposed to direct sunlight, near heat-radiating appliances, in dusty or poorly ventilated areas, subject to constant vibration, or in humid/moist environments.
- Operate controls and switches as instructed in the manual.
- Before first use, ensure the power cord is properly installed.
- Store CDs and tapes in a cool area to prevent heat damage.
CAUTION: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, DO NOT REMOVE THE COVER (OR BACK). NO USER-SERVICEABLE PARTS INSIDE. REFER SERVICING TO QUALIFIED SERVICE PERSONNEL.
WARNING: Remove batteries if exhausted or if the unit will not be used for a long period. Incorrect battery use can cause electrolyte leakage, corrosion, or battery bursting. Do not mix battery types (e.g., alkaline with zinc carbon) and always replace all batteries simultaneously.

Connect Power
The unit can be powered by AC household power or batteries.
AC Power
This unit operates on AC 120 V ~60 Hz power. Connect the included AC power cable to the AC power socket [16] on the rear of the player and to a wall power outlet providing AC 120V ~60Hz power. Ensure the outlet is working and provides constant (unswitched) power. Contact your local power utility if unsure about your power type. Do not attempt to operate on other power sources, as this may cause damage and void the warranty.
Battery Power
Install 6 UM-2 "C" size batteries for portable use.
- Remove the lid from the battery compartment [17] located on the bottom of the unit.
- Load six "C" size batteries, matching the polarities marked inside the compartment.
- Replace the battery compartment lid.
WARNING: Remove batteries if they are exhausted or if the unit will not be used for a long time. Batteries contain chemicals and must be disposed of properly according to local regulations.
Basic Functions
Turning the Unit On and Off
To turn the unit on, set the FUNCTION switch [1] to one of the function positions (e.g., CD, AM, FM). To turn the unit off, set the FUNCTION switch [1] to the OFF position.
Adjusting the Volume
Turn the VOLUME dial [6] clockwise or counter-clockwise to increase or decrease the volume level, respectively.
Using the Radio
Set the FUNCTION switch [1] to the AM or FM position to start using the radio.
- Select a frequency band:
- For AM stations, set the FUNCTION switch [1] to AM.
- For FM stations, set the FUNCTION switch [1] to FM.
- Turn the TUNING CONTROL [10] to tune to a radio station. The current station is visible on the frequency scale printed on the dial.
- Optimize radio reception:
- For FM, extend the telescopic antenna completely and rotate it for best reception.
- For AM, the unit has a built-in ferrite bar antenna. Adjust the unit's orientation and position, or place it in an open area for better reception.
Using the CD Player
Set the FUNCTION switch [1] to the CD/AUX position to operate the CD player.
About Compact Discs
This player is compatible with digital audio CDs, recordable discs (CD-R), rewritable discs (CD-RW) that have been finalized, and CD-DA format digital audio CDs.
ℹ️ Only handle a CD by its edge. Avoid touching the label or the playable side with your hands or any other object.
Loading a Disc
- Open the CD compartment [9] by lifting the Open/Close lid.
- Load a compatible disc with the label facing up.
- Close the CD compartment [9] by gently pushing down the lid until it latches.
- The player will attempt to read the disc. The LED screen [8] will show the number of playable tracks.
ℹ️ For optimal performance, wait until the player recognizes and reads the disc before proceeding.
Playing a Disc
With a compatible disc in the CD compartment [9]:
- Press the PLAY/PAUSE button [11] (▶||) to start playback. Playback begins from track 01.
- To pause playback, press the PLAY/PAUSE button [11] (▶||) again. The PLAY indicator will flash on the display [8]. Press it again to resume playback.
- To stop playback, press the STOP button [4] (■).
- To select a specific track: Press the BACK button [3] (<<) or NEXT button [12] (>>) repeatedly until the desired track number appears on the display [8]. Press PLAY [11] to begin playback.
- To scan through a track at high speed: Press and hold the NEXT button [12] (>>) to fast forward or the BACK button [3] (<<) to fast rewind. Release the button to resume normal playback speed.
Repeat Playback
You can change the track playback order using the PROG/REPEAT button [2].
- To repeat a single track: Press the PROG/REPEAT button [2] once. "REPEAT" will appear on the display [8], and the current track will play repeatedly. Press the button again to cancel.
- To repeat all tracks: Press the PROG/REPEAT button [2] twice. "REPEAT ALL" will appear on the display [8], and all tracks will play repeatedly. Press the button again to cancel.
Programming a Playlist
When the CD is stopped, you can select up to 20 tracks to play in a custom order.
- Press the STOP button [4] (■) to ensure playback has stopped.
- Press the PROG/REPEAT button [2]. "PROGRAM 01" will appear on the display [8].
- Use the BACK [3] (<<) or NEXT [12] (>>) buttons to select a track to add to the playlist.
- Press the PROG/REPEAT button [2] again to save the selected track. "P02" will appear on the display [8], indicating the next track slot.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 until your playlist is complete (up to 20 tracks).
- Press the PLAY/PAUSE button [11] (▶||) to start playback from the first programmed track. Playback will stop once all programmed tracks have played.
- Press the STOP button [4] (■) to stop the programmed playlist. Press it a second time to clear the playlist from memory.
ℹ️ Opening the CD compartment [9] will also clear the playlist from program memory.
MIX (RANDOM) PLAY
- Press the STOP button [4] (■) to ensure playback has stopped.
- Press the MIX button [13] once to initiate random playback.
- The unit will play all tracks on the CD in a random order and stop when all tracks have been played.
Using the AUX Input
This unit allows you to enjoy audio from external devices via the AUX-IN jack [15].
- Set the FUNCTION switch [1] to the CD/AUX position.
- Connect an audio cable (3.5mm stereo) from the external audio device's audio output (e.g., MP3 player, CD player) to the AUX-IN jack [15]. The unit will automatically switch to AUX mode.
- Adjust the playback volume using either the unit's VOLUME CONTROL [6] or the volume control on the external device.
- Start playback on the external audio device.
ℹ️ Use the external audio device's controls (e.g., Stop, Play, Previous) to manage playback. Adjust the volume to your desired level using the unit's VOLUME CONTROL [6].
Warnings and Precautions
The unit is a Class 1 Laser Product. Handle with care.
⚠️ CAUTION: RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK. DO NOT OPEN. No user-serviceable parts inside. Refer servicing to qualified personnel.
The lightning flash symbol ⚡️ within a triangle indicates the presence of uninsulated "dangerous voltage" that may pose an electric shock hazard.
The exclamation point symbol ⚠️ within a triangle alerts the user to important operation and servicing instructions.
On Protection Against Laser Energy Exposure
- The laser used is harmful to eyes. Do not attempt to disassemble the casing.
- Stop operation immediately if any liquid or solid object falls into the cabinet.
- Do not place objects in the safety slot, as this can activate the laser when the disc compartment door is open.
- If the unit is not used for extended periods, disconnect all power sources (remove batteries and unplug AC adapter). Grasp the adapter body, not the cord, when unplugging.
- This unit uses a laser. Using controls or procedures other than those specified may result in hazardous radiation exposure.
General Precautions
- Do not block ventilation openings or holes.
- Do not place open flames (e.g., candles) on the unit.
- Dispose of batteries according to local regulations to protect the environment.
- CAUTION: INVISIBLE LASER RADIATION WHEN OPEN AND INTERLOCKS DEFEATED. AVOID EXPOSURE TO BEAM.

- Lightning: Unplug the unit and disconnect the antenna during lightning storms or when unattended for long periods to prevent damage.
- Power Lines: Keep outdoor antennas away from overhead power lines or electrical circuits. Contact with power lines can be fatal.
- Overloading: Do not overload outlets or extension cords.
- Object and Liquid Entry: Never insert objects into openings. Never spill liquids on the unit.
- Servicing: Do not attempt self-service. Refer to qualified personnel.
- Damage Requiring Service: Unplug and seek service if the power supply/plug is damaged, liquid has spilled, objects have fallen in, the product has been exposed to rain/water, it does not operate normally, it has been dropped/damaged, or its performance has changed distinctly.
