Connections and Setup

Connecting Power

This unit operates on AC 120 V, 60 Hz power. Connect the included AC power cable to the AC Power in socket [28] on the rear of the unit and then to a wall power outlet. The unit supports AC 120 V power only.

⚠️ CAUTION: Do not connect the unit to a power source other than indicated. Doing so may result in fire or electric shock. Do not handle the power plug with wet hands.

Connecting the Microphones

To connect microphones:

  1. Align the 3 pins on the bottom of the microphone with the XLR end of the cable and insert until it clicks.
  2. Connect the 6.35 mm plug of the cable to the MIC 1 [9] or MIC 2 [3] input connectors on the front of the system.
  3. Set the microphone switch to the ON position when ready to use.

? Microphone holsters are located on either side of the system. Flip them down to store the microphones when not in use.

Connecting to a TV

This unit plays CD+G karaoke discs, which contain CD-audio tracks and synchronized lyrics. Connect the system to a TV to view lyrics.

The composite video connection sends a standard-definition video signal to a TV.

  1. Connect the yellow plug of the supplied A/V cable [26] to the Yellow: composite video out port on the unit and to the corresponding video input on the TV.
  2. Connect the white and red plugs of the supplied A/V cable [24, 25] to the White: audio out (left) and Red: audio out (right) ports on the unit and to the corresponding audio inputs on the TV.
  3. Load a compatible CD+G karaoke disc into the CD compartment [16].
  4. Turn on the karaoke system and press the CD/Bluetooth button [14] to select CD mode. The CD indicator [12] will light red.
  5. Turn on the TV and set the active TV input mode to match the composite video connection used (e.g., AV1, AV2, Composite 1, CVBS 1). Refer to your TV's documentation for details.

When the TV input mode is set correctly, CD+G programming will appear on your screen.

⚠️ CAUTION: Disconnect power before making any connections.

The Red/White audio connectors can be used independently of the composite video. They can be connected to a receiver or amplifier to play audio from the karaoke system without video.

CD/CD+G Mode

Press the CD/Bluetooth button [14] to select CD mode. The CD indicator [12] will light red.

About Compact Discs

This player supports digital audio CDs, CD-Recordable (CD-R), CD-Rewritable (CD-RW) discs (finalized), and CD-DA format digital audio CDs.

Note: This player is NOT compatible with MP3-CDs.

The player can play CD+G discs, which contain CD-audio and graphics. Karaoke CD+G discs display lyrics synchronized with the audio.

Handling CDs: Only handle CDs by their edges. Avoid touching the label or the playable side.

Loading a Disc

  1. Gently lift the CD door [17] to open it.
  2. Place a CD into the compartment [16] with the label side facing up (reflective side down). Align the CD's center hole with the spindle.
  3. Gently lower the CD door to close it. Playback will start from the first track.
  4. To remove a disc, press the Stop button [21]. Wait for the disc to stop spinning completely, then gently lift the CD door. Grasp the disc by its edges and remove it carefully.

Disc Handling: Ensure the disc has stopped spinning before opening the CD DOOR. Wait for the system to read the disc before proceeding with other functions.

The display will show "NO" if no disc is loaded or if the disc is unreadable.

Playing a Disc

  • To start, pause, or resume playback, press the Play/Pause/Resume button [18].
  • To stop playback, press the Stop button [21].

Selecting a Desired Track/Passage

  • To select a desired track, press the Skip Forward [20] or Skip Backward [22] buttons until the desired track number appears on the display.
  • To search for a passage within the current track during playback, press and hold the Skip Forward [20] or Skip Backward [22] buttons. Release the button to return to normal playback speed.

Programming Tracks

You can program up to 20 tracks to play in any order when playback is stopped.

  1. While playback is stopped, press the PROGRAM/PAIR button [15] to enter program mode. The Program indicator will light up.
  2. While the display is flashing, use the Skip Forward [20] or Skip Backward [22] buttons to select a track.
  3. Press PROGRAM/PAIR [15] again to save the selected track. The display will flash the next program track number.
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to store additional tracks.
  5. Press Play/Pause/Resume [18] to start playing the custom program. Press Stop [21] to cancel program playback.

To clear the program from memory, press Stop [21] when the disc is stopped or open the CD door.

Repeat Play Modes

Control track playback order by changing the repeat play mode. Press the REP button [19] during playback to cycle through modes. The repeat indicator will light up when a mode is active.

To cancel repeat play mode and return to normal playback, press REP [19] until the repeat indicator darkens.

Bluetooth® Mode

Press the CD/Bluetooth button [14] to select Bluetooth mode. The Bluetooth indicator [13] will light blue.

Note: Ensure Bluetooth® is enabled on your audio device.

Pairing/Connecting a Bluetooth Device

You will need to pair your device with the karaoke system the first time. After pairing, the system will automatically detect and connect to your Bluetooth device when set to Bluetooth mode.

To pair your device:

  1. Press the PROGRAM/PAIR button [15] to place the system in pairing mode. The Bluetooth indicator [13] will flash blue rapidly.
  2. On your device, scan/search for other Bluetooth devices.
  3. Select "NKM-100" from the scan/search results. If prompted, use the password "0000". The Bluetooth indicator [13] will light a steady blue when connected.
  4. Use your device's controls to start playback.

Bluetooth works best within 10 meters. If the connection fails, the Bluetooth indicator will continue flashing.

Refer to your device manufacturer's instructions for details on using its Bluetooth audio functions.

If your device becomes unpaired (due to reset or manual erasure), press PROGRAM/PAIR [15] again and repeat the pairing procedure.

Playing Audio Wirelessly From a Bluetooth Device

Once paired, you can stream audio wirelessly from your device to the Karaoke system.

  1. Follow the instructions for Pairing/Connecting a Bluetooth Device.
  2. Set your device's volume to approximately 80% of its maximum level, then adjust the Master Volume dial [6] on the system for a comfortable listening level.
  3. Use your device's native controls for playback (play/pause, skip, etc.).
  4. If supported by your device, you may also control playback using the buttons on the karaoke system.

Warnings and Precautions

General Safety:

  • CAUTION: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE AND ELECTRIC SHOCK, DO NOT REMOVE THE COVER (OR BACK) OF THE UNIT. REFER SERVICING ONLY TO QUALIFIED SERVICE PERSONNEL.
  • The lightning flash with arrowhead symbol within an equilateral triangle alerts users to the presence of uninsulated "dangerous voltage" that may pose a risk of electric shock.
  • The exclamation point within an equilateral triangle alerts users to important operation and servicing instructions in the accompanying literature.

On Protection Against Laser Energy Exposure

  • As the laser beam is harmful to eyes, do not attempt to disassemble the casing.
  • Stop operation immediately if any liquid or solid object falls into the cabinet.
  • Do not put anything in the safety slot. This can cause the laser diode to be ON when the disc compartment door is open.
  • If the unit is not used for a long period, disconnect all power sources. Remove batteries and unplug the AC-DC adapter by grasping the body, not the cord.
  • This unit uses a laser. Using controls or performing procedures other than specified may result in exposure to hazardous radiation.

General Precautions

  • CAUTION: Do not block ventilation openings or holes.
  • Do not place naked flames (e.g., lighted candles) on the apparatus.
  • When discarding batteries, follow all local rules and laws. Consider the environmental impact.
  • CAUTION: Invisible laser radiation when open and interlocks are defeated. Avoid direct exposure to the beam.
  • To prevent fire or shock hazard, do not expose this appliance to rain or moisture.

Important Safety Information

  1. Read all safety and operating instructions before use.
  2. Retain instructions for future reference.
  3. Heed all warnings on the product and in the instructions.
  4. Follow all operating and usage instructions.
  5. Cleaning: Unplug before cleaning. Use a damp cloth; do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners.
  6. Attachments: Use only manufacturer-recommended attachments.
  7. Water and Moisture: Do not use near water (e.g., bathtub, sink, laundry tub, wet basements, swimming pool).
  8. Accessories: Do not place on unstable surfaces. Use only with manufacturer-recommended carts, stands, tripods, or brackets. Move product/cart combinations with care to prevent overturning.
  9. Ventilation: Do not block cabinet slots/openings, which are for ventilation and overheating protection. Do not place on soft surfaces like beds or rugs. Do not place in built-in installations without proper ventilation or manufacturer instructions.
  10. Power Sources: Operate only from the type of power source indicated on the rating label. Consult your dealer or local power company if unsure.
  11. Grounding or Polarization: The polarized plug fits the outlet only one way for safety. If it doesn't fit, contact an electrician. Do not alter the plug or defeat its safety purpose.
  12. Power-Cord Protection: Route cords to prevent them from being walked on or pinched, especially at plugs and exit points.
  13. Protective Attachment Plug: If equipped with overload protection, see instructions for replacement or reset. Use only manufacturer-specified replacement plugs.
  14. Lightning: Unplug during lightning storms or when unused for long periods to prevent damage from surges.
  15. Overloading: Do not overload outlets or extension cords, as this can cause fire or electric shock.
  16. Object and Liquid Entry: Never push objects into openings, as they may touch dangerous voltage points or cause shorts. Never spill liquid on the product.
  17. Servicing: Do not attempt self-servicing; opening covers may expose you to dangerous voltage. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.
  18. Damage Requiring Service: Unplug and refer to qualified service personnel if the power supply/plug is damaged, liquid has spilled, objects have fallen in, the product has been exposed to rain/water, it does not operate normally, controls are improperly adjusted, the product has been dropped/damaged, or performance changes distinctly.
  19. Replacement Parts: Ensure service technicians use manufacturer-specified parts with the same characteristics as original parts. Unauthorized substitutions may cause hazards.
  20. Safety Check: After service/repairs, ask the technician to perform safety checks.
  21. Wall or Ceiling Mounting: Mount only as recommended by the manufacturer.
  22. Heat: Site away from heat sources like radiators, stoves, or amplifiers.

FCC NOTICE

This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to two conditions: (1) it may not cause harmful interference, and (2) it must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.

This equipment has been tested and found to comply with Class B digital device limits per Part 15 of FCC Rules. These limits provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in residential installations. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy. If not installed and used per instructions, it may cause harmful interference to radio communications. There is no guarantee interference will not occur in a specific installation. If interference occurs (determined by turning the equipment off and on), try correcting it by:

  • Reorienting or relocating the receiving antenna.
  • Increasing separation between the equipment and receiver.
  • Connecting the equipment to a different circuit than the receiver.
  • Consulting the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician.

CAUTION ON MODIFICATIONS

Any changes or modifications not expressly approved by the grantee may void the FCC authority to operate the equipment.

WARNING

This product contains lead, a chemical known to California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. Wash hands after handling.

CAUTION

The product has a polarized plug (one blade wider than the other) for electrical shock safety. It fits the outlet only one way. If it doesn't fit, try reversing the plug. If it still doesn't fit, contact a qualified electrician. Never use with an extension cord unless the plug fits fully. Do not alter the plug or defeat its safety purpose.

NEC NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE

Do not apply oil or petroleum products to this product. Graphic symbols with supplementary markings are located on the bottom of the unit. Using controls, adjustments, or procedures other than specified may result in hazardous radiation exposure.

Troubleshooting

No power when ON

  • Check the power plug is connected to the unit's rear and plugged into a working outlet.
  • Ensure the outlet is switched on.
  • Verify the POWER button on the front has been pressed.

No sound

  • Turn the master volume dial clockwise.
  • If playing from an external audio device, ensure its volume is at least 80%.

CD Player does not work

  • Check that the disc is not scratched or dirty.
  • Ensure the CD lens is clean. Blow clean air across it; if problems persist, use a CD lens cleaner.
  • Check for moisture inside the unit and allow it to dry.
  • Ensure the protective card has been removed from the CD Tray.
  • Try a different CD.

No sound when connected to a TV

  • Ensure your TV's audio source is set to the correct component or AV input.
  • Check that the color-coded RCA cables are correctly connected to their respective jacks.
  • Turn up the volume on the TV or home theatre system.

Lyrics do not appear on screen

  • Ensure the color-coded RCA cables are correctly connected.
  • Verify you are playing a CD+G disc; audio CDs will not display lyrics.
  • Ensure the CD+G LED is lit, confirming a CD+G format disc is playing.

No sound from microphone

  • Turn up the MIC 1 Volume, MIC 2 Volume, and Master Volume dials.
  • Ensure the microphone is switched to the ON position.
  • Sing into the microphone, staying within 3cm of it.
  • Ensure the microphone jack is securely connected to MIC 1 or MIC 2.
  • Check that the echo dial is not set too low.

Music or vocals cut out while playing a CD+G and singing with the microphone.

  • Turn the AVC level dial counter-clockwise to its lowest setting.
  • Ensure you are playing a CD+G that has a vocal track.

Burned CDs will not play

  • Ensure the burned CD has been finalized in CD-audio format. MP3 format CDs are not supported.

What format discs are compatible?

  • Supported formats: CD, CD+G, CD-R (burned as audio CD), and CD-RW (burned as audio CD).
  • Note: CD-R and CD-RW discs burned as MP3 discs are not supported.
