8BitDo Pro 2 Bluetooth Gamepad Instruction Manual
Overview
This manual provides instructions for the 8BitDo Pro 2 Bluetooth Gamepad.
Power On: Press the [start] button.
Power Off: Press and hold the [start] button for 3 seconds.
The controller features a D-pad, analog sticks, face buttons (A, B, X, Y), shoulder buttons (L1, R1), triggers (L2, R2), select, start, home, profile, and pair buttons. It also includes LEDs for status and player indication.
Note: NFC scanning, IR camera, HD rumble, notification LED, and wireless wake-up functions are not supported.
Connectivity
Nintendo Switch
Bluetooth Connection
- Turn the mode switch to 'S'.
- Press [start] to turn on the controller. The status LED will rotate.
- Press and hold the [pair] button for 3 seconds to enter pairing mode. The LED will briefly stop blinking then resume rotating. (Required for first-time connection only).
- On your Switch, navigate to Home Page > Controllers > Change Grip/Order.
- The LED will become solid when the connection is successful.
The controller will automatically reconnect to your Switch with a press of the [start] button after initial pairing.
Wired Connection
- Turn the mode switch to 'S'.
- Press [start] to turn on the controller. The status LED will rotate.
- Connect the controller to your Switch dock via its USB cable.
- Wait for the controller to be recognized by your Switch.
System Requirement: Nintendo Switch system version 3.0.0 or above. Ensure 'Pro Controller Wired Communication' is enabled in System Setting > Controller and Sensors.
Player Indication: LEDs indicate player number (1 LED for player 1, 2 LEDs for player 2, up to 4 players).
Windows (X-input)
Bluetooth Connection
System Requirement: Windows 10 (1703) or above, Bluetooth 4.0.
- Turn the mode switch to 'X'.
- Press [start] to turn on the controller. LEDs 1 & 2 will blink.
- Press and hold the [pair] button for 3 seconds to enter pairing mode. The LED will rotate. (Required for first-time connection only).
- On your Windows device, go to Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices.
- Select 'Add Bluetooth or other device' > 'Bluetooth'.
- Pair with '[8BitDo Pro 2]'.
- The LED will become solid when the connection is successful.
The controller will automatically reconnect to your Windows device with a press of the [start] button after initial pairing.
Wired Connection
- Turn the mode switch to 'X'.
- Press [start] to turn on the controller. LEDs 1 & 2 will blink.
- Connect the controller to your Windows device via its USB cable.
- Wait for the controller to be recognized by your Windows device.
Player Indication: LEDs indicate player number (1 LED for player 1, 2 LEDs for player 2, up to 4 players).
Android (D-input)
Bluetooth Connection
System Requirement: Android 4.0 or above.
- Turn the mode switch to 'D'.
- Press [start] to turn on the controller. LED 1 will blink.
- Press and hold the [pair] button for 3 seconds to enter pairing mode. The LED will rotate. (Required for first-time connection only).
- On your Android device, go to Bluetooth settings and pair with '[8BitDo Pro 2]'.
- The LED will become solid when the connection is successful.
The controller will automatically reconnect to your Android device with a press of the [start] button after initial pairing.
Wired Connection
- Turn the mode switch to 'D'.
- Press [start] to turn on the controller. LED 1 will blink.
- Connect the controller to your Android device via its USB cable.
- Wait for the controller to be recognized by your Android device.
Note: OTG support is required on your Android device for wired connection.
macOS
Bluetooth Connection
System Requirement: OS X Lion (10.10) or above.
- Turn the mode switch to 'A'.
- Press [start] to turn on the controller. LEDs 1, 2 & 3 will blink.
- Press and hold the [pair] button for 3 seconds to enter pairing mode. The LED will rotate. (Required for first-time connection only).
- On your macOS device, go to System Preferences > Bluetooth and ensure Bluetooth is on.
- Pair with '[Wireless Controller]'.
- The LED will become solid when the connection is successful.
The controller will automatically reconnect to your macOS device with a press of the [start] button after initial pairing.
Wired Connection
- Turn the mode switch to 'A'.
- Press [start] to turn on the controller. LEDs 1, 2 & 3 will blink.
- Connect the controller to your macOS device via its USB cable.
- Wait for the controller to be recognized by your macOS device.
Turbo Function
Activate Turbo: Hold the desired button and press the [star] button. The [home] LED will blink continuously when the turbo function is active for that button.
Deactivate Turbo: Hold the button with the active turbo function and press the [star] button. The [home] LED will stop blinking.
Note: The D-pad, analog sticks, home, select, and start buttons do not support the turbo function. Turbo function is not applicable when connected to Switch.
Battery
The controller has a 1000 mAh built-in rechargeable battery pack, providing approximately 20 hours of playtime. Charging time is approximately 4 hours.
Alternatively, the controller can be powered by two AA batteries, providing approximately 20 hours of playtime.
Battery Status Indicators:
- Low Battery: Red LED blinks.
- Charging: Red LED stays solid.
- Fully Charged: Red LED turns off.
The controller will automatically turn off after 1 minute of inactivity when not connected, or after 15 minutes of inactivity when connected via Bluetooth. The controller remains on during a wired connection.
Ultimate Software
The Ultimate Software allows for advanced customization of the controller, including button mapping, stick and trigger sensitivity adjustments, vibration control, and macro creation.
