Introduction

The ECB62ZB control box is the core component of the underfloor heating control system. It is equipped with 230V voltage connectors for thermostats, pumps, and thermoelectric actuators, enabling control of up to 8 heating zones (2 wired, 6 wireless). It is compatible with NC-type thermoelectric actuators (e.g., E30NC230, E28NC230) and features a built-in control module for heating devices, such as a gas boiler, via a voltage-free output. Wired control involves direct connection of thermostats, which can be battery-powered or 230V AC powered. Wireless communication is facilitated by ⚡️ ZigBee 3.0 technology. The "ENGO binding" function allows direct wireless control of dedicated EONEBAT and EONE230 thermostats using the EGATEZB internet gateway. The EGATEZB gateway also enables remote control of the ECB62ZB via the ENGO Smart/TUYA Smart mobile applications over the internet.

Product Compliance

This product complies with the essential requirements and other relevant provisions of the following EU Directives:

Safety Information

Use in accordance with national and EU regulations. The device is intended for indoor use only in dry conditions. Installation must be carried out by a qualified person in accordance with national and EU regulations. Before attempting setup and installation, ensure the ECB62ZB is not connected to any power source. Incorrect installation may cause damage to the wiring center. The ECB62ZB should not be installed in areas exposed to water or damp conditions. The installer is responsible for ensuring all additional protection requirements are met.

Connection of Thermostats and Thermoelectric Actuators (AC 230V)

The system supports various thermostat types for connection:

The ECB62ZB control box connects to:

Thermoelectric actuators (e.g., E30NC230) connect to the actuator output terminals. Each zone is designed to support up to 6 thermoelectric actuators (2W each). If more actuators are needed per zone, an additional relay must be used to relieve the output. The control box is designed for NC (normally closed) type actuators, meaning they are closed when unpowered and open when powered. 230V AC may appear on the actuator outputs depending on the thermostat's heating state.

Installation

Follow these steps for installation:

  1. Remove Top Cover: Carefully remove the top cover of the control box. A gap of approximately 5mm is needed to facilitate this.
  2. Wire Preparation:
    • For boiler and battery thermostats: Use wires with a minimum of 2 x 0.75 mm² and a maximum of 2 x 1.5 mm² (230V).
    • For power supply, pump, and 230V thermostats: Use wires with a minimum of 3 x 1.0 mm² and a maximum of 3 x 1.5 mm² (230V).
Strip approximately 40mm of insulation from the ends of the wires.
  3. Connect Wires: Connect all wires according to the connection diagram and the instructions provided on the sticker inside the top cover. Ensure correct connections for the power supply, pump, boiler, and actuators.
  4. Finalize Installation: Securely re-mount the top cover. Connect the wiring center to the 230V power supply. The red "Power" LED indicator should illuminate, confirming power connection.

Power Supply and Fuse

The control box requires a stable 230V AC 50Hz power supply. The installation must adhere to a three-wire system and comply with all applicable regulations. The illumination of the red "Power" LED signifies that the wiring center is successfully connected to the power supply.

Fuse Replacement: The main fuse, a 10A slow-blow tubular type, is located beneath the housing cover, adjacent to the power supply terminals. It protects both the control box and connected devices. Fuse replacement should only be performed when the control box is disconnected from the power supply. Use a flat screwdriver to carefully remove the fuse holder and then extract the fuse.

Pump Control Output (AC 230V)

The PUMP OUTPUT is utilized to power the circulation pump within the heating system. It is a 230V AC voltage output with a maximum load capacity of 3A. The pump is connected directly to these terminals. The output activates (and the pump starts) exactly 3 minutes after receiving a heating signal from any thermostat connected to the wiring center. The output deactivates (and the pump stops) as soon as the last thermostat ceases to report a heat demand. When the Pump/Valve control output is activated, the pump status LED displays a constant green light.

Boiler Control Output (Volt-Free)

The boiler control output is managed by a relay featuring voltage-free contacts (NO / COM / NC output). The boiler must be connected to either the COM-NO or COM-NC contacts. This is a standard two-state relay. If thermostats connected to the wiring center send a signal requesting heat, the BOILER output contacts activate the relay with a 3-minute delay, initiating the boiler's operation. The boiler is turned off immediately once none of the zones are requesting heat. When the BOILER control output is activated, the boiler status LED displays a constant green light.

Note: The shutdown delay time for both the circulating pump output and the heat source output can be adjusted within a range of 0, 3, 5, or 15 minutes. Refer to the full device manual for detailed configuration instructions.

Installation ECB62ZB in the App

Ensure your Wi-Fi router is within range of your smartphone and that you are connected to the Internet. This will help reduce the device pairing time.

Step 1: Download ENGO Smart App

Download the ENGO Smart app from Google Play or the Apple App Store and install it on your smartphone.

Step 2: Register a New Account

To register a new account, follow these steps:

  1. Click "Register" to create a new account.
  2. Enter your email address; a verification code will be sent to it.
  3. Enter the verification code received via email. Remember you have only 60 seconds to enter the code.
  4. Set your login password.
  5. Click "Done" to complete registration.

Step 3: Install ECB62ZB in the App

  1. Verify that your ZigBee gateway (e.g., EGATEZB) has been successfully added to the Engo Smart app.
  2. Ensure the ECB62ZB control box is connected to the power supply. Press and hold the PAIR button for 10 seconds. The red LED diode will start flashing, indicating the control box has entered pairing mode.
  3. Access the gateway interface within the Engo Smart app.
  4. Navigate to the "Zigbee devices list" and select "Add devices".
  5. Wait for the application to discover the device, then click "Done". The control box will be installed and display its main interface. The Power LED should light up blue.

Binding Thermostat with the ECB62ZB Wireless Control Box

Confirm that the ECB62ZB control box and the thermostat are part of the same ⚡️ ZigBee network (i.e., they are added to the same EGATEZB gateway) and that the POWER LED on the ECB62ZB is illuminated blue.

  1. On the ECB62ZB control box, use the SELECT button (1) to choose the specific zone you wish to link with the thermostat. The LED (2) for the selected zone will flash 3 times.
  2. Confirm your zone selection by pressing the PAIR button (2). The LED (2) for that zone will then flash green, indicating that the binding process has commenced. This process is active for 10 minutes, during which you can link the thermostat to the selected zone.
  3. On the EONE thermostat, press and hold both the [up] and [down] buttons simultaneously until the message "bind" appears on the thermostat's screen.
  4. Release the buttons. The binding function, which links the thermostat with the control box, is now active.
  5. The binding process may take up to 300 seconds to complete.
  6. Upon successful completion of the binding operation, the message "End" will be displayed on the thermostat. The thermostat will then return to its main screen, displaying a connection icon (❤️) to signify its successful link with the receiver (the ECB62ZB in this case).

⚠️ ATTENTION: If the binding process fails, it is necessary to repeat it. Pay close attention to the distances between devices, potential obstacles, and any local radio signal interferences. The radio range can be effectively increased by using Engo ⚡️ ZigBee repeaters.

Factory Reset

To restore the control box to its factory default settings, press and hold the PAIR button for 10 seconds. The red LED diode will begin to flash, indicating that the control box has been cleared from the ⚡️ ZigBee network and gateway memory. It will then enter pairing mode, allowing you to add it back to the ⚡️ ZigBee network (refer to STEP 3 - Installation ECB62ZB in the app for guidance).
