Product Description: The Secure Lift LTE, from Baby Trend, is a Rear-Facing only Universal Belted Enhanced Infant Carrier.
Read this instruction Manual thoroughly BEFORE first using the Secure Lift LTE Universal Belted Enhanced Infant!
Always keep the printed Instruction Manual with the Secure Lift LTE Carrier. A special pocket is provided under the cover or access by scanning the QR code on the side of the Secure Lift LTE. Plan to spend some time getting to know your safety seat. This will be time well spent when you consider that your baby's safety depends on it. Please pay special attention to the warnings.
Before continuing, please locate your vehicle owner's manual. You may need to refer to it as part of these instructions. Safety seats are designed to give protection to your child in the event of a sudden stop or crash. No child seat can guarantee absolute protection from injury in the event of a crash, but their use reduces the risks.
To use this Rear-Facing only Universal Belted Enhanced Infant Carrier, your child must meet the following requirements: Child height 40cm-87cm, Child weight <13kg, Child age <15 months.
Notice: This is a Universal Belted Enhanced Child Restraint System. It is approved according to UN Regulation NO 129, for use primarily in "Universal seating positions" as indicated by vehicle manufacturers in the vehicle user's manual. If in doubt, consult either the Enhanced Child Restraint System manufacturer or the retailer.
DO NOT use the rearward facing enhanced child restraint systems in seating positions where there is an active frontal airbag installed.
Care and Cleaning
Hardgoods: Wipe with mild solution of soap and water. Avoid wetting labels. Rinse with clean water, NEVER use household detergents or solvents.
Soft Goods: Hand wash in cool water and mild soap. Air dry - Do Not Tumble Dry.
Warnings
According to accident statistics, CHILDREN ARE SAFER WHEN PROPERLY RESTRAINED IN REAR VEHICLE SEATING POSITIONS, RATHER THAN FRONT SEATING POSITIONS.
WARNING! DO NOT USE THIS CHILD SEAT IN PASSENGER SEATS EQUIPPED WITH ACTIVE FRONTAL AIRBAGS!
WARNING! NEVER LEAVE YOUR CHILD UNATTENDED.
NO SAFETY SEAT CAN GUARANTEE PROTECTION FROM INJURY, HOWEVER, PROPER USE OF THIS SEAT REDUCES THE RISK OF SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH TO YOUR CHILD.
DO NOT INSTALL OR USE THIS Universal Belted Child Restraint UNTIL YOU HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THIS MANUAL AND IN YOUR VEHICLE OWNER'S MANUAL.
DO NOT let others install or use the Universal Belted Child Restraint unless they fully understand how to use it.
IT IS MOST IMPORTANT that the Universal Belted Child Restraint is correctly routed with the lap portion of the belt across the front belt guides and the diagonal shoulder belt is through the rear belt guide. Ensure the belt webbing is not twisted.
Be cautious that the rigid items and plastic parts of the enhanced child restraint system shall be so located and installed that they are not liable to become trapped by a movable seat or in the door of the vehicle.
FAILURE TO PROPERLY USE THIS Universal Belted Child Restraint INCREASES THE RISK OF SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH IN A SHARP TURN, SUDDEN STOP OR CRASH. Your child can be injured in a vehicle even if you are not in a crash. Sudden braking and sharp turns can injure your child if the Universal Belted Child Restraint is not properly installed or if your child is not properly secured in it.
DO NOT use another manufacturer's seat cover on this Safety Seat. Contact Baby Trend for genuine replacement parts. Back cover contains Baby Trend's contact information.
This enhanced child restraint system shall NOT BE USED without the cover.
This enhanced child restraint system shall NOT BE USED without the seat insert.
DO NOT use alternative load-bearing points not shown in these instructions.
DO NOT MODIFY YOUR Universal Belted Child Restraint or use any accessories or parts supplied by other manufacturers.
NEVER LEAVE AN UNSECURED Universal Belted Child Restraint IN YOUR VEHICLE. An unsecured Infant Carrier can be thrown around and may injure occupants in a sharp turn, sudden stop or crash. Remove it or make sure that it is securely belted in the vehicle.
NEVER LEAVE LUGGAGE or other objects unsecured in a vehicle; they are liable to cause injuries in the event of a collision.
REPLACE THE Universal Belted Child Restraint AFTER AN ACCIDENT OF ANY KIND. An accident can cause damage to the safety seat that you cannot see.
NEVER USE Universal Belted Child Restraint IF IT HAS DAMAGED OR MISSING PARTS. DO NOT use a cut, frayed or damaged vehicle seat belt.
Keep this Universal Belted Restraint away from sunlight, otherwise it may be too hot for child's skin. Always touch the Universal Belted Child Restraint before placing child in it.
Ensure any Lap straps or impact shields restraining the child should be adjusted to the child's body, and that straps should not be twisted.
NEVER GIVE THIS Universal Belted Child Restraint to someone else without also giving them this manual or QR code manual link.
NEVER USE A SECOND-HAND Universal Belted Child Restraint whose history you do not know.
SUFFOCATION HAZARD: Infant Carrier can roll over on soft surfaces and suffocate child. Never place carrier on beds, sofas or other soft surfaces.
STRANGULATION HAZARD: Child can strangle in loose restraint straps. Always use the restraint system. NEVER leave child in carrier when straps are loose or undone.
FALL HAZARD: Child's movements can slide carrier. NEVER place carrier near edges of counter tops, tables or other elevated surfaces. Be sure handle locks into position before lifting carrier.
Never leave the child unattended.
It is dangerous to use the Universal Belted Child Restraint on an elevated surface, e.g., a table.
Always use the restraint system.
Do not use accessories or replacement parts other than those approved by the manufacturer.
Consider the danger of making any alterations or additions to the device without approval of the adequate authority, and the danger of not following closely to the installation instructions provided by the enhanced child restraint manufacturer.
DO NOT USE THE Universal Belted Child Restraint in any configuration not shown in this Instruction Manual.
Ensure any Lap strap is worn down low or impact shields restraining the child should be adjusted to the child's body, so that the pelvis is firmly engaged.
Automobile Seat Selection
WARNING! IMPROPER PLACEMENT OF THE SAFETY SEAT INCREASES THE RISK OF SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.
Some seating positions in your vehicle may not be safe for this Universal Belted Child Restraint. Some vehicles do not have any seating positions that can be used safely with this Universal Belted Child Restraint. If you are not sure where to place this Universal Belted Child Restraint in your vehicle, consult your vehicle's owner's manual.
Vehicle Seat Location Requirements
1-Children are safer when properly restrained in rear vehicle seating positions. When ever possible, secure this Universal Belted Child Restraint in the centre position directly behind the front seats. This position is often equipped with a lap belt only and, if so, MUST NOT be used.
DO NOT use the rearward facing enhanced child restraint systems in seating positions where there is an active frontal airbag installed. Seats with Side Airbags are OK.
DO NOT USE THE FOLLOWING SEATING POSITIONS:
2-Seats which face the sides of the vehicle.
3-Seats which face the rear of the vehicle.
Vehicle Seat Belt Systems
4-Use only the vehicle's lap and shoulder belt when securing this Universal Belted Child Restraint.
UNSAFE SEAT BELT SYSTEMS - DO NOT USE THE FOLLOWING VEHICLE BELT SYSTEMS:
5-NEVER use a lap-belt only.
6/7-NEVER use Passive Restraint Lap or Shoulder Belt Mounted on a door.
Installation and Use
Secure Lift LTE Use Requirements
ECE R129/04 Enhanced Universal Belted Child restraint. This child restraint is designed for use by children whose: Child height 40cm-87cm, Child weight <13kg, Child age <15 months.
Child MUST meet these requirements to use this Universal Belted Child restraint.
8- DO NOT use this Universal Belted Child restraint if the carrier extends over the front of the automobile seat.
9- NEVER use this Universal Belted Child Restraint in a forward facing position!
Secure Lift LTE Installation
10- Place Universal Belted Child restraint on automobile seat with handle in the most forward position.
11- Ensure Vehicle is level to ground and Universal Belted Child restraint Green level line is level to automobile floor.
12- Route automobile lap belt through the Green lap belt guides. Insert buckle tongue into buckle. Pull on buckle to ensure it's securely fastened.
13- Route automobile shoulder belt diagonally along the side of the Universal Belted Child restraint.
14- Route automobile shoulder belt diagonally across the back of the Universal Belted Child restraint through the Green belt guide.
15- Installation Check:
15.1- Lap belt in Lap Belt guides.
15.2- Automobile buckle secure.
15.3- Shoulder belt fitted diagonally across back of Universal Belted Child restraint.
15.4- Shoulder belt taught.
15.5- Handle in most forward position.
Placing and Securing Child in Secure Lift LTE
16- Loosen harness by pressing adjuster and pulling on shoulder webbing.
17- Press red release button, separate buckle tongues, place shoulder belts over upper edge of Infant Carrier.
18- Place child in. Ensure child is sitting against the back and bottom of Infant Carrier.
19- Check to ensure shoulder belts are at or below the top of the child's shoulders.
20- Align buckle tongues and insert into buckle. NOTE: Pull on buckle tongues to ensure buckle secure.
21- Pull front adjuster to tighten harness. NOTE: You should be able to only place one finger between the child's shoulder and shoulder belt.
Seat Insert
22- The Secure Lift LTE has included: A- A Seat Insert that must be used with all children.
Handle Adjustments and Positions
23- Press gray release button on both sides to move handle. Always pull on handle to ensure the handle is locked in position.
Use Positions:
A- Automobile use position
B- Carry position
C, D & E- NEVER use positions C, D, & E in automobile.
Harness Adjust
24- Loosen harness by pressing adjuster and pulling on shoulder webbing.
25- Tighten harness by pulling on front adjuster. Caution! The hip belt must lie low as possible over your baby's hips. The Secure Lift LTE has a one-hand adjustment to change shoulder belt height.
26- Without child in the Infant Carrier, loosen harness. Press gray release button and raise or lower to the required height. NOTE: Shoulder belt should be at or below child's shoulder and never above shoulder.
Buckle Use
27- Press red button to open buckle.
28- Align buckle tongues and insert buckle tongues to secure buckle.
Weather Canopy Use and Removal
29- Open and rotate canopy if needed for sun, rain, etc.
30- Lift canopy edge, pull firmly to remove.
Pad Removal
31- Remove Canopy, loosen harness and open flap on seat back.
32- Turn Universal Belted Child Restraint over. Locate metal adjuster plate near bottom of seat. Remove both harness straps.
33- Pull both harness straps through headrest. Remove wing inserts and seat insert.
34- Lift and remove soft goods pad. NEVER use this Universal Belted Child restraint without soft goods, or seat insert.
Pad Installation
35- Lower Pad on Infant Carrier and secure.
36- Thread harness straps through headrest.
37- Turn Universal Belted Child Restraint over. Locate metal adjuster plate near bottom of seat.
38- Attach both harness straps to metal adjuster plate.
39- Install wing insert to hook and lap fastener. Thread buckle through seat insert. NEVER use this Universal Belted Child restraint without soft goods, wing inserts and seat insert.
Ergonomic Carry Grip Position
40- Rotate handle to the carry position. Cross forearm through the carry handle to place your hand on the grip.
