Baby Trend EZ-Lift™ PRO Infant Car Seat
WARNING: CAREFULLY READ AND UNDERSTAND ALL INSTRUCTIONS AND WARNINGS IN THIS MANUAL. FAILURE TO PROPERLY USE THIS CAR SEAT INCREASES THE RISK OF SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH IN A SUDDEN STOP OR CRASH. KEEP INSTRUCTIONS FOR FUTURE USE.
Store this manual in the pocket provided on the side of the car seat base.
Child Weight: 4 to 30 lb (1.8 to 13.6kg). Child Height: 29.5" or less (74.9 cm).
Safety Seat Use Requirements & Information
Warnings to Alert You to Possible Dangers: The ultimate safety of your child depends on the proper installation of the Safety Seat in your vehicle. Proper installation requires reading and understanding this manual and your vehicle's owner's manual. Do not allow others to install or use this seat unless they fully understand its proper use and installation. Improper use can result in death or serious injury.
Your child's safety depends on:
- Choosing the best location in your vehicle (avoiding active air bags).
- Adjusting harness shoulder straps to the appropriate height.
- Adjusting harness length to be snug.
- Using the seat in the rear-facing position only.
- Proper use and routing of vehicle seat belts.
- Ensuring the proper recline angle for maximum protection.
Safety Information
About Your Child:
- Designed for specific height and weight ranges. Exceeding limits increases risk. Refer to the warning label on the seat and manual cover for limits.
- Special needs children (e.g., pre-term babies) may require consultation with a pediatrician regarding recline angle and suitability.
- Never leave your child unattended.
- Avoid bulky clothing that hinders a snug harness fit.
- NHTSA recommends rear-facing until age 3 or weight/height limits are reached.
About Your Vehicle:
- Proper installation and securing of the child are essential.
- Understand your vehicle's owner's manual regarding child restraints. Contact your dealer if information is lacking.
- Some vehicles may not have safe locations or adequate seat belt systems.
- Never combine this seat/base with other manufacturers' products.
- Certified for use in motor vehicles and aircraft, conforming to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.
About Active Air Bags:
NEVER place this safety seat in a vehicle seating location with an active air bag. Inflation can cause death or serious injury.
About an Unoccupied Safety Seat:
- Never leave the seat or base unsecured in a vehicle; it can become a projectile in a crash. Secure it with a seat belt or remove it.
- The seat can become very hot in direct sunlight, potentially burning the child. Cover it if exposed to sun.
About This Safety Seat:
- Plastic can deform if heavy objects are stored in it. Do not store heavy objects in the seat or trunk with pressure on the seat.
- Replace the seat and base after any accident, even minor ones, as damage may be undetectable and compromise safety. Do not use if damaged.
- Discontinue use after seven (7) years from the manufacture date. Disable the seat before discarding to prevent unsafe use by others.
About Use as a Carrier:
- Never leave a child unattended.
- Place the carrier only on firm, level surfaces (not beds, sofas, etc.) to prevent tipping.
- Keep the carrier away from edges of high surfaces to prevent falls. Stay within arm's reach.
- Ensure harness straps are snug and not loose or undone.
- Check that the carry handle is firmly locked before lifting.
- Strangulation Hazard: Do not place items with strings around a child's neck (hood strings, pacifier cords). Do not suspend strings over the carrier or attach them to toys. Keep the carrier away from windows with cords from blinds or drapes.
- Suffocation Hazard: Infant carrier can roll over on soft surfaces.
- Fall Hazard: Child's activity can move the carrier. Do not place on elevated surfaces. Do not use on shopping carts.
Selecting the Best Location for the Safety Seat
WARNING: Not all locations are safe. Improper placement increases risk of death or serious injury.
Follow manual and vehicle owner's manual instructions. Contact vehicle manufacturer if uncertain.
Overall Considerations:
- Rear seating positions are statistically safer.
- Center rear seat is recommended. If driver is alone and needs to monitor child, front seat may be used if no passenger air bag and specific conditions are met.
Vehicle Seat Requirements:
WARNING: DO NOT place rear-facing child seat on front seat with air bag. DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY can occur. Back seat is safest for children 12 and under.
- Never place seat in a location with an Active Air Bag.
Checking Vehicle Seat Belt Safety:
WARNING: Carefully analyze seat belt operation. Threading the belt is not enough to ensure safety. Read this section, your vehicle manual, and heed warning labels. Modification or special seat belts may be required.
- DO NOT place seat in rear-facing or side-facing vehicle seats (See Fig. 14-1 & 14-2).
- DO NOT use in vehicles with seat backs that do not lock.
- Review vehicle owner's manual for safe locations.
- Unsafe Seat Belt Systems:
- Lap belts that stay loose and only lock in a crash (Emergency Locking Retractor).
- Lap/shoulder belts where both belts have retractors at one end.
- Seat belts connected to the door.
- Seat belts anchored more than 2 inches forward of the seat crease.
- Shoulder belts that move along a track.
- Safe Seat Belt Systems:
- Manually adjusted lap belts that stay tight.
- Lap belts that cannot be lengthened once fastened (automatic locking retractor).
- Lap/shoulder belts with latch plates that lock the lap belt into position.
- Lap/shoulder belts with slide-free latch plates, if they have a lockable retractor or a locking clip is used.

- Using the Belt Threading Tool, insert straps through selected slots in seat pad and shell (Fig. 32-1).
- From rear, pull straps through slots to reach Belt Adjuster Plate.
- Reassemble straps to Belt Adjuster Plate (left first, then right). Ensure straps are within the plate loop.
- Ensure strap ends are fully hooked on the metal plate, threaded in the same position (Fig. 33-1).
- Inspect straps for twists. Twisted straps prevent proper tightening.
- Pull straps from front to ensure they are securely re-attached.
- Fold webbing over metal plate and secure with hook and loop fastener (Fig. 33-2).
5.12 Adjustment of the Crotch Strap Length
Adjust for a safe and comfortable fit. A gap of 1/2" to 1" should be between buckle ears and child's thigh (Fig. 34-1). Check buckle height frequently.
- To shorten webbing: Thread anchor bracket through the slot closest to the in-use position.
- To lengthen webbing: Undo anchor bracket from the second slot and pull buckle up. Ensure bracket secures.
Using Infant Restraint
6.1 Securing Your Child in the Safety Seat / Carrier
WARNING: Children have STRANGLED in loose or partially buckled harness straps. Fully restrain the child.
Improper securing increases risk of death or serious injury from suffocation, falls, or crashes. Harness straps must be properly installed, adjusted, and secured.
- Check harness straps are in correct slots or adjusted to proper height (Section 5.9).
- Dress child in clothing that allows secure harness latching and keeps shoulder straps in place.
- Place seat on a firm, level surface. Move carry handle to non-rocking position. Loosen harness straps by pulling while pressing the Harness Adjuster Button. Unfasten chest clip. Unbuckle harness straps and drape them aside (Fig. 36-1).
- Place child in seat with bottom against the back and bottom of the seat (Fig. 36-2).
- Pull harness straps down over child. Ensure straps are not twisted.
- Insert both buckle tongues into the crotch strap buckle. Test for security (Fig. 37-1). Fasten Harness Chest Clips together. Position chest clip level with child's armpits (Fig. 37-2). Ensure tongues click and are latched. If not securely buckled, the seat will not provide protection.
- Pull outward on Harness Adjuster Strap to tighten harness straps. Ensure straps are flat and snug on shoulders, with no slack.
- Accessory products are acceptable if they do not interfere with harness assembly or adjustment.
Installation
WARNING: Thick, soft, or compressible material over 1/4 inch should not be placed behind or under the child or between the child and harness straps.
WARNING: Toys or other objects attached to carry handle can cause injury in a crash.

- Tighten seat belt very firmly by pushing down on the seat/base while pulling the belt. Ensure no slack.
- To tighten lap belt only: Feed belt back into retractor (automatic) or pull free end (manual). Ensure retractor locks.
- To tighten combination lap/shoulder belt: Pull shoulder portion upward while pushing down on seat/base. Unbuckle, tighten, re-buckle if needed. Repeat until very tight.
- For belts with slide-free latch plates, use a locking clip (Fig. 44-1) or alternate locking mechanism as per vehicle manual. Install clip 1/2 inch from buckle.
- Base Installation Check: Ensure nothing interferes with latching. Place seat onto base, push down until latched with a click. Pull upward to check security. If it does not latch securely, DO NOT use.
- Adjust carry handle: Rebound for children 22 lb (10 kg) or less; Carry for children over 22 lb or if feet touch handle.
7.3 Installation of the Base using LATCH
LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) system simplifies installation. Ensure child seats are installed without vehicle seat belts. Vehicles are equipped with lower anchor points. Child seats have attachments to connect to these points.
- Remove toys/objects from carry handle.
- Locate LATCH seating position per vehicle manual.
- Remove seat from base. Remove LATCH connectors from storage (Fig. 47-1).
- Place Base in rear-facing position in a forward-facing vehicle seat.

WARNING: Improper recline increases risk of death or serious injury. Too upright can cause breathing problems; too reclined can cause injury in a crash.
- Use the Seat Angle Indicator on the child's left side.
- With Base: Ensure seat is level side-to-side (Fig. 51-1). Check indicator for child's weight.
- 4-22 lb: Bubble centered between lines (Fig. 51-2).
- 23-30 lb: Level line parallel to ground (Fig. 51-3).
- If indicator is off, extend elevation foot or use aids (rolled towel, pool noodle) under front of base (Fig. 51-4).
- Without Base: Ensure seat is level side-to-side. Check indicator for child's weight (Fig. 52-1).
- If indicator is not level, adjust seat. If too reclined, adjust as shown (Fig. 52-2). If too upright, use rolled towel/pool noodle under foot end (Fig. 52-3). Re-tighten vehicle seat belt.
7.5 To Deploy Elevation Foot
- Turn Base over with foot away (Fig. 53-1).
- Press elevation foot release buttons (Fig. 53-2).
