Installation Instructions
Safety First
CAUTION - RISK OF SHOCK - Disconnect power at the main circuit breaker panel or main fuse box before starting and during the installation.
Step 1-7: Chain and Wire Preparation
- Thread a small threaded pipe into the end of the small loop. Pass the threaded pipe on the small loop up through the hole in the canopy.
- Thread a lockwasher onto the end of the threaded pipe protruding from inside the canopy.
- Thread a hexnut onto the threaded pipe protruding from inside the canopy.
- Attach the open end of one chain link to the large loop on the top of the fixture body. Attach the other open end of that chain link to one end of the chain.
- Attach the open end of one chain link to the small loop on the canopy. Attach the other open end of that chain link to the other end of the chain.
- Weave the fixture wires through the chain links, ensuring they are no more than 3 inches apart.
- Pass the fixture wire through the hole in the small loop on the canopy and then through the hole in the canopy.
Step 8-9: Mounting Strap Installation
Diagram Description: The main diagram illustrates the overall assembly of the pendant light fixture. It shows a mounting strap secured to an electrical outlet box using mounting screws and wire nuts. A chain connects from the mounting strap's small loop to the fixture's canopy, and then to the fixture body's large loop. The fixture wires are depicted woven through the chain. The fixture itself comprises a cage structure enclosing a glass cylinder, suspended from the chain. A bottom trim piece is shown securing the glass at the base of the fixture.
- Find the appropriate threaded holes on the mounting strap. Assemble the mounting screws into these threaded holes.
- Attach the mounting strap to the outlet box. The mounting strap can be adjusted to suit the position of the fixture.
Step 10: Grounding Instructions
Refer to Illustrations A or B for grounding methods:
- Illustration A (Dimpled Strap): On fixtures where the mounting strap is provided with a hole and two raised dimples, wrap the ground wire from the outlet box around the green ground screw and thread it into the hole.
- Illustration B (Cupped Washer): On fixtures where a cupped washer is provided, attach the ground wire from the outlet box under the cupped washer and the green ground screw, and thread it into the mounting strap.
If the fixture is provided with a ground wire, connect the fixture ground wire to the outlet box ground wire using a wire connector after following the above steps. Never connect the ground wire to black or white power supply wires.
Step 11: Wire Connections
Make wire connections according to the chart below:
Wire Connection Guide:
- Connect Black or Red Supply Wire to: Black wire (identified as parallel cord round & smooth, or clear/brown/gold/black wire without tracer, or insulated wire with copper conductor).
- Connect White Supply Wire to: White wire (identified as parallel cord square & ridged, or clear/brown/gold/black wire with tracer, or insulated wire with silver conductor).
Note: When parallel wires (SPT I & SPT II) are used, the neutral wire is square shaped or ridged, and the other wire will be round in shape or smooth.
Step 12-17: Final Assembly
- Raise the canopy to the ceiling.
- Thread the lock-up knobs onto the mounting screws. Tighten the knobs to secure the fixture to the ceiling.
- Insert the recommended bulbs (not included).
- Raise the glass up to the fixture. Carefully fit the glass inside the cage. Pass the hole in the top of the glass over the bulb and socket inside the cage.
- Raise the bottom trim up with the foam pad to the fixture, with the lip of the trim facing upwards. Place the trim against the bottom of the glass, with the foam pad resting between the trim and the glass.
- Thread one screw into each hole along the trim and into the corresponding holes in the bottom of the cage. Tighten the screws to secure the ring in place.
