Introduction

The H5 is NovaStar's newest generation of video wall splicer, featuring excellent image quality and designed especially for fine-pitch LED screens. The H5 can work as splicing processors that integrate both video processing and video control capabilities, or work as pure splicing processors. The whole unit adopts a modular and plug-in design, and allows for flexible configuration and hot swapping of input and output cards. Thanks to excellent features and stable performance, the H5 can be widely used in a variety of applications, such as energy and power, judicial departments and prisons, military command, water conservancy and hydrology, meteorologic earthquake prediction, enterprise management, metallurgy of steel, banking and finance, national defense, public security traffic management, exhibitions and presentations, production scheduling, radio and television, educational and scientific research, as well as stage rental applications.

Features

Modular and plug-in design

Based on a powerful hardware FPGA system architecture with a modular and plug-in design, the H5 offers a stable and highly efficient pure hardware architecture. It provides a variety of connector modules for flexible and personalized configuration, allowing for easy maintenance and a low failure rate. The H5 supports industry-standard input connectors including HDMI, DVI, DP, VGA, CVBS, SDI, and IP, and processes 10-bit video sources, supporting 4K high-definition inputs and outputs. It also offers three kinds of LED 4K sending cards, enabling backup between OPT ports and Ethernet ports for ultra-long distance transmission. The H5 supports multi-screen and multi-layer management, input/output EDID management and monitoring, input source renaming, BKG, and OSD settings, providing a rich image construction experience.

The H5 adopts a B/S architecture, supporting cross-platform, cross-system access and control without needing to install an application program. It is compatible with Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, and Linux platforms, allowing online collaboration of multiple users with fast web page response speeds, greatly improving on-site setup efficiency. The H5 also supports online firmware updates for easy hardware updates via PC.

  • Three kinds of LED 4K sending cards:
    • H_20xRJ45 sending card loads up to 13,000,000 pixels.
    • H_16xRJ45+2xfiber sending card loads up to 10,400,000 pixels and provides two OPT ports that copy outputs on Ethernet ports.
    • H_4xfiber sending card loads up to 20,800,000 pixels and supports three working modes: independent, copy, and backup.

    Note: The three cards mentioned above cannot be used together to load the same screen.

  • High-definition scrolling text: Customize scrolling text content (slogans, notification messages), text style, scrolling direction, and speed.
  • Up to 2,000 presets.
  • Fade effect and seamless switching supported, with a switching duration of less than 60ms.
  • Scheduled playback of preset playlist: Set whether to add presets to a playlist, ideal for monitoring, exhibitions, and presentations.
  • OSD settings on a single screen with adjustable OSD transparency.
  • BKG settings: BKG images do not occupy layer resources. The maximum width and height of a BKG image can be up to 15K and 8K respectively.
  • Channel logo management: Set a text or image logo to identify the input source.
  • Input source cropping and renaming after cropping: Crop any input source image to form a new input source.
  • HDR and 10-bit video processing for exquisite and clear images.
  • Color adjustment: Output connector color and screen color are adjustable, including brightness, contrast, saturation, hue, and Gamma.

Appearance

Front Panel

The front panel features an LCD screen which is a touchscreen that displays menus, submenus, messages, device status, and monitoring information, allowing users to perform all operations directly. The picture shown is for illustration purposes only; actual product may vary. The product can only be placed horizontally and should not be mounted vertically or upside-down. It can be mounted in a standard 19-inch rack capable of withstanding at least four times its total weight, using eight M5 screws.

Rear Panel

The rear panel contains various input and output connectors, including multiple DVI, HDMI, DP, SDI, VGA, CVBS, and ETHERNET ports, as well as OPT ports and a GENLOCK input. The silkscreen markings indicate slot types: "I-x" for input cards, "O-x" for output cards, and "MVR" for preview cards. The picture shown is for illustration purposes only; actual product may vary.

Input Cards

H_4xDVI input card

Supports single link and dual link input modes, 10-bit input source, and 144Hz input. HDCP 1.4 compliant. Does not support interlaced signal input.

  • Single link mode: Four DVI connectors for input. Each supports a maximum resolution of 2048×1152@60Hz and a minimum of 800×600@60Hz. Custom resolutions include max width of 2560 pixels (2560×972@60Hz) and max height of 2560 pixels (884×2560@60Hz).
  • Dual link mode: Connectors 2 and 4 are used for input (1 and 3 are unavailable). Each supports a maximum resolution of 3840×1080@60Hz and a minimum of 800×600@60Hz. Custom resolutions include max width of 3840 pixels (3840×1124@60Hz) and max height of 4095 pixels (1014×4095@60Hz).

H_1xHDMI2.0+1xDP1.2 input card

Only one connector can be used at a time. Selection is made via the Web page; default is HDMI 2.0. Supports accompanied audio and 144Hz input. Does not support interlaced signal input.

  • 1x HDMI 2.0: Backward compatible with HDMI 1.4 and HDMI 1.3. Supports maximum resolution of 3840×2160@60Hz. HDCP 2.2 compliant. Custom resolutions: max width of 4092 pixels (4092×2261@60Hz), max height of 4095 pixels (2188×4095@60Hz).

H_1x12G SDI input card

Features 1x 12G-SDI IN and 1x 12G-SDI LOOP.

H_2xAudio input+2xAudio output card

Supports single channel (4x phoenix audio inputs, 4x phoenix audio outputs) and dual channel (2x phoenix audio inputs, 2x phoenix audio outputs). Audio sampling rate: 48 kHz. When single channel balanced audio is used, there are four input and four output audio channels. When dual channel balanced audio is used, input and output channels are halved. Outputs accompanied audio from video input connectors and audio input cards. Supports output volume adjustment and one-click mute. Allows switching between single and dual channel modes. Audio output delay is supported.

H_2xfiber input card

Features 4x 10G OPT ports. OPT 1 and OPT 2 are used for primary inputs, while OPT 3 and OPT 4 serve as backups for OPT 1 and OPT 2, respectively. Input source specifications for backup and primary ports must match. Each connector supports a maximum resolution of 4096×2160@30Hz and up to 2x SL inputs or 1x DL input. Supports input mosaic and two input modes: independent and mosaic. Supports automatic identification of input source resolution and color space. Supports 144Hz input. The optical module supports SFP+ encapsulation (10G SFP+ SR/LR). Input resolution settings are not allowed.

H_STD I/O card

This card can be installed into input card slots. It features 2x COM ports (programmable RS422/RS485/RS232), 1x ETHERNET port (10/100Mbps, TCP/IP, UDP/IP), and 3x I/O ports (programmable for input/output functions). It also has 3x RELAY OUT ports (for controlling device power) and 3x IR OUT ports (for programmable infrared control).

Features 4x SL-DVI connectors. Supports single output, dual link output, and 144Hz output.

Sending Cards

H_16xRJ45+2xfiber sending card

This LED 4K sending card can load up to 10,400,000 pixels (max. width: 10,240 pixels, max. height: 10,240 pixels). This card occupies two slots.

  • 16x RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet outputs: 8-bit bit depth: a single Ethernet port loads up to 650,000 pixels. 10-bit bit depth: a single Ethernet port loads up to 320,000 pixels. Supports backup between Ethernet ports and 144Hz output.
  • 2x OPT outputs: Supports both SMF and MMF transmission. OPT 1 copies and outputs data from Ethernet ports 1-8. OPT 2 copies and outputs data from Ethernet ports 9-16. Supports 144Hz output.

H_20xRJ45 sending card

This LED 4K sending card can load up to 13,000,000 pixels (max. width: 10,752 pixels, max. height: 10,752 pixels). This card occupies two slots.

  • 20x RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet outputs: 8-bit bit depth: a single Ethernet port loads up to 650,000 pixels. 10-bit bit depth: a single Ethernet port loads up to 320,000 pixels. Supports backup between Ethernet ports and 144Hz output.

H_4xfiber sending card

This card can load up to 20,800,000 pixels (max. width: 16,384 pixels, max. height: 16,384 pixels). Independent, copy, and backup modes are supported. SM and MM optical modules are supported with transmission distance up to 10 km. Supports 8-bit and 10-bit outputs. Supports 144Hz output. Optical modules support SFP+ encapsulation (10G SFP+ SR/LR).

  • Independent: All four OPT ports are used for output with equal loading capacity.
  • Copy: OPT 1 and OPT 2 are main outputs; OPT 3 copies OPT 1, and OPT 4 copies OPT 2.
  • Backup: OPT 1 and OPT 2 are main outputs; OPT 3 serves as backup for OPT 1, and OPT 4 serves as backup for OPT 2.

H_1x12G SDI output card

Features 1x 12G-SDI and 1x 12G-SDI (COPY) connectors. The 12G-SDI connector is for primary output, and the other copies the output. Backward compatible with 6G-SDI, 3G-SDI, HD-SDI, and SD-SDI. Supports ST-2082-1 (12G), ST-2081-1 (6G), ST-424 (3G), ST-292 (HD), and SMPTE 259 SD. Each connector supports a maximum resolution of 4096×2160@60Hz. Supports 10-bit YCbCr 4:2:2 output. Custom output resolution settings are not allowed. Only Level A format is supported.

Status LEDs: Green (on) or yellow (flashing) indicates the backend device is connected via Ethernet cable; Green (off) or yellow (off) indicates the backend device or cable is not connected.

Control Card

H_Control Card

The control card supports bi-level and tri-level GENLOCK signals (accepts IN and LOOP). It features a Gigabit Ethernet port for communication with a control PC, router, or switch. It also includes USB 1 & USB 2 ports (2x USB 2.0) for web control, NovaLCT screen configuration, device program updates, and configuration parameter import/export. USB connectors do not provide power. A COM port (serial port) supports RS232 protocol for central control systems (accepts IN and loops OUT signals). The COM port cannot connect to a network or LED cabinet. A power switch allows ON/OFF control.
